Strange Job

Number One exchanged glances with the female secretary. Both parties could see the shock in each other’s eyes. However, no one dared to say another word as they nodded their heads and went off to make arrangements. Inside the playroom, Mia stood up. She had been squatting on the floor for one afternoon and her legs were completely numb. The little kid was still examining the model they had just assembled with great focus. Mia passed him a bottle of yogurt milk while opening another one for her own consumption. However, the moment she took a sip, she suddenly remembered something and was shocked. Oh dear, she had completely forgotten that she had been substituting for Jessica. What… What time was it? What should she do now!? Also, had Dylan seen through her? When she first entered, he had already stated that she would only get 15 minutes. At least four to five hours had already passed, and yet, he had not called her out. This was worrying. She had to head out and find out what was going on. After taking a deep breath, Mia bent down and spoke to the little boy, saying, “Little kid, big sister needs to go home now. If another opportunity arises, I will come and play with you again.” As she said this, she stroked the boy’s head gently. His hair was soft and thick, leaving a deep impression on her. However, one second after she turned around, a small hand grasped onto the corner of her clothes. “Mm?” Mia didn’t walk off. She looked at him in confusion and asked, “What’s wrong?” The little boy lifted up his head and stared at Mia without speaking. However, the emotions surging from the depths of his eyes were extremely obvious. “You don’t want me to leave?” Mia knelt down and asked him warmly. The little boy nodded his head. “But…” Mia frowned. What was she supposed to do now? Dylan, who was still seated in front of the monitor, watched with keen interest. He wanted to see how Mia would resolve this situation. When she first stepped into his office, a phrase surfaced in his mind: Love can bring down cities. He had been stunned by her entrance then and there! He was especially enticed by her familiarity. Even though she wasn’t a devastating beauty, every part about her suited his taste and aesthetic. Regardless of how heartless he was, he would be moved whenever he thought of her warmth. Unfortunately… After thinking for a while, Mia kneeled down and spoke to the little boy at eye level. “Little kid, is the person outside your father?” she asked. The little boy hesitated for a moment before nodding his head. “Oh.” Mia nodded her head to indicate that she understood. Then, she said, “I am his good friend. He was busy just now so he asked me to come over and play with you for a while. But in order to save you from the falling building, big sister got a little bit hurt. Big sister needs to go and clean my wounds now. Don’t worry, the next time your father is busy, I will come and visit you. We’ll build that castle up together again. Is that okay?” The little boy hesitated for a moment, his eyes overflowing with reluctance. However, he nodded his head sensibly before waving his hand to bid farewell to Mia. Mia turned around to leave. However, the office outside the room was completely empty. She finally heaved a sigh of relief as she prepared to slip off stealthily. Dylan was someone that she could not afford to provoke. There were rumors that he was a heartless and ruthless person. If he found out that an imposter had spent so much time with his son, she might meet her death without even knowing how it had happened. She heard some noise from the bathroom. Dylan was probably inside and she decided that it was the opportune time to take her leave. At that time, her phone suddenly started to ring. In her shock, she hastily covered her mouth and dug her phone out from her pocket before answering it. She was extremely worried that the ruckus would alert Dylan, who was inside the bathroom. “Hello…” She whispered as softly as she could. “Mia Jones, you shameless b*tch!” Eleanor Jones’ flustered voice could be heard on the other end of the call. She had worked hard to gather a hundred and fifty thousand dollars for that bodyguard. When she arrived at Oscar Burton’s office in the afternoon, she heard Jessica’s plea for help when she answered the phone. Fortunately, she was able to answer the phone while Oscar was away. She hastily deleted the call record from his telephone. “What are you talking about?” Mia furrowed her brows and walked towards the door. She stretched out her hand to open it, only to realize that the door was locked. She was already starting to grow worried and her tone of voice became a bit more impatient. “Are you expecting Oscar to clean up for you after you’ve provoked some questionable people? Didn’t you already promise to give up the Jones family and Oscar this morning? Can you stop clinging to Oscar? We are sisters! You should give us your blessing!” Eleanor snarled. She was completely different from the frail act she put on earlier. “Eleanor, have you forgotten who Oscar’s fiancée is? What more, I’m now inside the Greco Group’s office. You better shut up!” Mia threatened in a low voice. Alas, that sentence shocked Eleanor silly. Why would Mia head to the Greco Group? Unless… Has she already realized that the person last night was… Dylan Greco?!
