Chapter 40 – Defiance
“What are you up to, baby girl?” I hear behind me, causing me to pivot around.
“s**t, you scared me; you need a bell or something,” I remark
“Watch your language, and I don’t think a bell would’ve helped; you looked a million miles away,” she informs me.
“Sorry, I was just distracted and kind of lost,” I admit.
“How about I show you the rest of the second floor before the outside?”
“Sound perfect.”
While she walks me around the beautiful gardens that I could just stare at forever, I can’t help but crave the knowledge I lost.
“I love this garden, but I can see room for improvement,” I remark as we walk back to the house.
“It hasn’t been changed since you created it, and you weren’t finished, so I am very inclined to agree with you. You are welcome to come
