77: Keelin Keelin Keelin retreated into her craft, her baby. Piran and Ryann faded, as did the voices in her ear. She became the Proteus, lost herself. Dry, dusty air brushed her skin. She trembled with power, both real and latent. She rode the stone blocks of the city, tensing and releasing. No proximity to assist, only vague sensor readings, but she flew barely one hundred metres from the ground. Too easy going higher. Not enough to distract her, not enough to occupy her mind. The Nyx closed. The pilot was an i***t. He didn’t deserve such a craft. The way he over-reacted, he’d be better suited to a tug in deep space, one of those bulky, padded things designed for brute strength. But he gained.
