- Oh great! Nice to meet you, I am James Moore.
He extended his hand to me for a handshake, I took it, and his hand is huuuuuge.
He has a very good handshake.
What does a good handshake look like? Firm, not very strong, not very short but not very long, without a sweaty hand and without being uncomfortable when removing it or it does not feel awkward at all when you hold the other person's hand.
I, due to the astonishment of seeing such a sculpture of the Greek god, Apollo, who by the way, is right in front of me at this exact moment, I tried and I repeat, I tried to not be noticed, as much as possible, that my mouth was agape and that I had some huge eyes, and I struggled, hard, to recompose myself in order to be able to tell him my name.
Act professional!
Look normal!
- I am so happy to meet you Mr. Moore, I am Layla Miller.
- Oh no no, please don't talk to me like that, you can relax and call me without formalities, you can call me James, Jim or if you feel like it, you can call me Jimmy.
- Very well Jim, nice to meet you and thank you very much for having me here.
I suddenly felt again observed, I turned around and nothing, I remembered the Adonis, that we all have as a boss who is in the meeting room across the office, I turned to look over there, and yes, he is standing inside the meeting room, lying his back on the side wall of the building, watching ME intensely!
My God, what is wrong with him?
Have I really earned him as an enemy?
Well done silly one!
- Shall we?
Jim told me at the same time he is extending his arm to tell me to enter the training room.
I nodded yes to him and walked in as he told me, but unlike Richard, Jim stopped just before entering at the door and gave me the opportunity to go in first, this is what they call a true gentleman!
Richard is not ugly, but you can consider him a regular person, maybe a little more handsome than regular, but these two gods, they are such an unbelievable thing to behold, tall, athletic, brawny, dapper, just beautiful, Adonis and Apollo, my respects to their parents, what a couple of dolls they have fathered, wow!
The room is half full, but the training attendees were scattered throughout the room. Apparently, there are several new employees, easily about fifty people are in here right now.
As always, the front row is empty and I walked to the front of the room, at a steady pace, feeling pretty confident, to sit in the front row, centered, as I like to do, since I was in school, yes, I know, that is very nerdy of me, but I do not like to be distracted by people talking or getting in or out of a room, it was one of my secret weapons to get straight A’s in my exams.
Jim followed me and he sat next to me.
Wow, he smells delicious, his delicious scent makes me want to kiss him, lick him or bite his face, he smells delicious, and he is so handsome, very handsome, handsome, and beyond, may I say.
How the hell do you expect me to work under these conditions?
No woman could work with someone like him and not get distracted, and being distracted equals mistakes, and I hate making mistakes, not that I do not make mistakes, obviously, no one is perfect, but I try to learn from them and not to make the same mistake again, but with a boss as handsome as Jim, daaaaang, right now, I am getting worried about my job performance!
Richard stands at the front of the room and at the same time, a young girl passes through the rows handing to everybody a medium-sized paper bag, like a mall store kind of paper bag.
Richard started by welcoming all of us to the company and he briefly explained the history of the company.
The company is more than 70 year old, but Bennett Jones, our boss, bought it ten years ago, he not only renewed it from its foundations, but managed to turn it in such a short period of time into one of the best pharmaceutical companies in the world.
I take a look inside of the paper bag and I see an agenda, a thermo, a pen, a set of office supplies, a box of business cards with my name on them and a metal shiny plaque with my name, wow, impressive.
What a nice detail!!!
I inserted my hand carefully, trying not to make noises, and I took out of the bag the agenda and a pen. Every item has my name, the company name and logo, is that out of the owner´s arrogance? Or does everyone love the company?
I think it is a phenomenal logo and the calligraphy they chose for the company name makes each item in the bag look really fancy.
I took notes of every piece of information that I considered important and relevant, that is a habit that I developed since, hmm, I am not sure since when, during my education most definitely, but it is something that gives me the ability to remember almost everything and if I do not remember it, there is no problem, because I wrote it down.
I saw askance how Jim was watching me attentively.
Beautiful thing, what a handsome man, I would be nervous just to be sitting next to him, but he is my boss and I will spend time with him, so you better get used to it and take off the silly face you put on when you first saw him.
The training ended, we stood up and got out of the training room and standing at the door Richard called me, I stopped, I turned around and so did Jim.
- Yes? - I told Richard.
- Miss Miller, I need you to come with me.
- Where?
Jim asked him with a not so happy face.
- It is 1:40 p.m.
- Yes, and?
- I must escort Miss Miller to Mr. Jones' office.
- WHY?
- Well, just because Jimmy, orders, Can I? Do you approve of it?
Wait a moment, what did I miss?
What is going on between these two?
Why do they talk like that to each other?
- Ricky, What 's Up?
- Jimmy, Mr. Jones asked me in the morning, to take Miss Miller to his office, fifteen minutes before his lunchtime, Can I?
- Oh, I see, And do you know why?
- Obviously no, I don’t, we have to leave, I don't want us to be late, Mr. Jones is extremely punctual, this morning was the first time I have seen Mr. Jones being late, just a minute, but in the ten years I have been working in the company, it is the first time it happened. Are we leaving Miss Miller?
He said and we started walking towards the elevator, I looked back, and I noticed a weird expression on Jim's face.
Is it really a bad thing to be called to the owner's office?
