Chapter Thirty: The Bruise

Monday came around faster than I wanted it to. I wasn’t looking forward to coming across Caspian or anyone else in his group, especially because of the bruise under my eye that still didn’t heal. It was still there, a vibrant blue and purple shade that was starting to yellow around the edges, and I didn’t know how to convince them that I’d fallen (if asked). It was obvious that it wasn’t caused by a fall. As I walked into the school through the front doors, I kept my head ducked. I’d styled my hair differently today, all in hopes of covering the bruise, or try to. Anyone who looked closely enough would see it, but I was hoping that I could at least avoid stares in the hallway. I reached my first class, which was pre-calculus. Livette was already there—she was always pretty punctual
