Athena’s words rang in her head; her indifferent blue eyes remained stoic as she walked past them without another word. Michelle sat there in a daze as David kept on talking; she could hear glass slowly c***k in her ears as the memory of this afternoon replayed in her mind.
David’s did not stop like a train rushing to the next station; Michelle did not bother to listen to him, but she tried. Her mind was just not with her and she could not bring herself to his full attention. She nodded at times and smiled, but in truth, she did not wish to be her. She looked away briefly and David noticed her sullen gaze.
“What’s wrong?”
Michelle’s eyes darted back to him as she put on a smile, “Nothing. Why?”
