Aria The sound of porcelain shattering against marble seemed unnaturally loud. Hot coffee splashed across the floor, the bitter smell rising immediately into the air. Tiny fragments scattered beneath the table, some pieces spinning in circles before finally becoming still. Nobody moved, not me or Damian, not even Lucien. For one strange second, the only thing I could hear was the ticking of the grandfather clock behind me and the rain tapping softly against the windows. Selene recovered first. She let out a laugh Just a small embarrassed laugh as she pressed a hand against her chest. "Oh, God." Her smile returned so quickly that if I had blinked, I might have missed the crack that had appeared before it. "I scared myself." She looked down at the broken cup. "That was dramatic."
