CHAPTER 1 ABANDONED TO DIE “I hope the pleasures of this night make you reconsider your decision, Beldon. I truly wish you knew that terminating an innocent life isn't an option for maintaining your reputation,” Sonia muttered to herself after a long gaze at the sleeping man. Swiftly, she unwrapped his arms, which were clutched to her back. “I'll love you till eternity, Beldon,” she muttered, and her face flushed with excitement. As she stumbled out of the bed and grabbed the envelope on the bedside table, a flicker of hope washed over her face while she cradled her stomach with joy. “Beldon, we're expecting twins. Can you… No!” “Bel honey, you're going to be a father to twins… Gosh! No! “Beldon, the doctor said…” Sonia ran her hands over her hair as she kept on memorizing how best to disclose the result of the pregnancy scan to him. Soon, she heard the creaking sound of the entrance door but was hesitant to check, as she believed that it was the cleaner who was always punctual with her duties. She just had to hurry and serve Beldon the special breakfast in bed that could soften his firm heart. “Good morning, Sonia,” a familiar voice greeted with enthusiasm. “Oh, this b***h in my house again?” Sonia mumbled inwardly. “Clara! W—what do you want again?” Her brows furrowed as she asked. Clara scoffed. “Wait, are you seriously asking me that question, Sonia?” “Well, to answer your question, I'm here to see Beldon. Do you have any problem with that?” Sonia's eyes darkened, but she just had to force herself to control her violent emotions, which were giving her a great urge to slap Clara already. “Beldon is still sleeping, Clara. Now, can you get out of my house?” She replied icily. “Ha,” Clara chuckled bitterly. “Wait, what made you think you have the right to ask me out of this house, Sonia? Besides, Beldon hasn't married you yet; you're just a mere girlfriend!” “Don't worry. I'm here to put an end to this stupid confidence in you,” Clara declared and grabbed Sonia's wrist tightly, pushing off the tray of coffee she was holding. “What are you trying to do, Clara!” Sonia cried, struggling to get herself off Clara's grip. “What? Does it hurt? This is what you get when you don't back off with a simple warning!” Clara mentioned coldly. “Let go of my hands!” Sonia screamed so loud that her voice caused Beldon to stumble out of the bed. “Sonia! So—nia!” he screamed. Out of confusion from the faint sound of commotion he was hearing, he quickly opened the door and raced down the stairs, only to see Sonia's unconscious body drenched in a pool of blood while her sister stood there, glaring at her. “Clara! What have you just done to my girlfriend!” He yelled and rushed to lift her in his arms. Instead of feeling remorseful, Clara stood and watched with contempt how Beldon struggled to save Sonia's life. “Sonia, Sonia, please, don't do this to me. Sonia, you have to wake up! Please, don't leave me,” he cried, running after the nurses as they wheeled her to the emergency room. Beldon's chest felt like someone had ripped his heart out. “Consider yourself dead if anything should happen to my girlfriend, Clara,” Beldon threatened with bloodshot eyes. “You can't do anything, Beldon. After all, I was just following your orders,” Clara mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper. “D-doctor. P–please, how's my girlfriend? Is she still alive?” Beldon stuttered, his voice trembling. The handwriting of regret was boldly written over his face. The doctor was hesitant for a while, throwing a calm gaze at Beldon, he reported, “She's fine, but I'm sorry. We lost the babies.” “Babies?” Beldon raised a brow as he muttered under his breath. “Yes. She was carrying twins. You should have known that, I guess,” the doctor affirmed and proceeded to the next ward. The days flew by; Sonia couldn't stop mourning her babies even on the sick hospital bed. To some extent, whenever she thought of the pains she was passing through, she blamed it on herself. She believed all this wouldn't have happened if she had listened to Beldon and aborted the pregnancy peacefully. Besides, his reason was not far from the truth; it won't speak well of a famous figure like him to have a child out of wedlock. Yet, she insisted because she felt it was high time they looked into the future. It has been five years of perfect dating with Beldon. “Finally, welcome back home, sweetheart,” Beldon exclaimed with joy and engulfed her in a tight hug as soon as she returned home after spending a week in the hospital. The massive decorations in the living room reminded her of the special days with Beldon. The pain in her heart suddenly derailed at the sight of the red flower decorations in the living room. Before she could open her mouth and say a word, she saw Beldon’s tall statue lowered to the ground on one knee. With an expensive diamond ring in his hands, he held it up and gazed directly into her eyes, “Sonia Sinclair, would you do me the favor of being my wife?” He proposed. Sonia blushed with happiness; this was the moment she had been looking up to for the past five years. Finally, she'll be recognized as a member of the Hart family. “Y–Yes, I'll marry you, Beldon,” Sonia exclaimed joyfully and stretched her fingers to receive the symbol of infinite love from the one man she ever loved. The warmth of his arms as he hugged her made her heart run cold. “For the engagement, we're throwing the party in the next three days, and…” “I don't want to see my family there,” Sonia declared before Beldon could finish his statement. “What? Why? Beldon asked, raising a brow. “That is my condition, Beldon. Give them an invitation, and there'll be no engagement!” She said flatly, her words stirring up more confusion in him, but he dared not object. They've gone too far to break up at this point. The days flew by; the Crescent Event Centre was filled with luxurious cars and expensively dressed invitees who had come for the engagement party of the fast-rising billionaire, Beldon Hart. Sonia, dressed in her long red dinner gown was communicating with a guest when she saw the one person she hated most, approaching. Instantly, she walked up to her fiancé and asked with a frown, “Did you invite Clara here, Beldon?” “Huh, I… No, I did not. Isn't she your sister?” Beldon stammered, sounding guilty and worried. “Never! Not after what she did to me!” Sonia mumbled, her tone apathetic. Immediately, she left in a rage to where Clara was seated. “Hey, congratulations, big sister! You're finally engaged to your charming prince!” Clara said with a hysterical smile as soon as Sonia drew closer. “Yes, Clara. Beldon and I have been together for five years, and that is one thing you can't steal from me.” “Besides that, this party was strictly by invite, and I can't remember giving you any, and the same with Beldon. So how did you smuggle yourself to this place, Clara?” Sonia reprimanded. “Ha-ha-ha,” Clará sniggered. “Are you sure Beldon actually wanted this, Sonia?” She said with a smug smile and continued, “Well, I didn't actually come here to stay for long. But do you care to know where your fiancé was last night?” She sneered and displayed her phone screen to Sonia. “What!” Sonia flinched. The sight of her fiancé unclad in a compromising position with Clara on the couch caused a sharp pain in her heart as if being struck by a knife. “You see, I've always told you. Think about the miscarriage. Did you think I did it on my own? No, Beldon said you were too stubborn to heed his instructions, so he asked me to help him out, and I did! Can you now see that He never loved you?” “Shut that dirty mouth up!” Sonia cut Clara short with a slap. “How could you do this to me, Clara! I'm your sister!” “Half sister!” Clara corrected immediately, with her hands clenched to her cheeks. “And, it is not my fault that you didn't fit into Beldon's spec,” she added, and she turned to take her leave when Sonia grabbed her wrist tightly and drew her back. “How dare you talk to me like that, Clara?” Sonia attempted to yank another slap on her, but Clara stopped her hands before it reached her cheek. “Enough already, Sonia!” Clara yelled, holding tight to Sonia's wrist. “Let go of my hands,” Sonia screamed, but Clara was adamant in her actions. “If I can remember correctly, you can't swim. So, let's see who Beldon would run to save if we're both drowning,” Clara said and dragged Sonia into the pool. “Cla–raaa! Beldon screamed and jumped into the pool the moment his eyes sighted the two sisters in a state of chaos. “Clara, are you okay?” He whispered as he snuggled her out of the pool. Slowly, Sonia's body began to sink down, and only her hands could be seen floating above the waters.
