Alyssa stared out at the guests crowding the courtyard and shifted uncomfortably. Hours passed since Moab first started the proceedings, and despite the wonderful displays of skill and magic that entertained her, she was ready for this to be over. As if Moab sensed her thought, she glanced at Alyssa, and the Queen lifted her hand when the dragon shifter ignited a candle more than fifty feet away with a single, well-aimed ball of fire. The people grew silent, and their expectant gazes turned toward the five thrones on their raised dais. “Tonight, we are gathered here to appoint my successor.
