HIS LITTLE BRIDE (COMPLETE)

CHAPTER 16

Selena was so tired and she just couldn’t stop wondering why her best friend was making her go through all this torture from morning until now. Her husband had been weird for a week now and she could tell that he was keeping some secrets from her and she just couldn’t grasp what exactly. Was he very uncomfortable with her belly being that huge now? She could barely walk without the help of a wheel chair and to think that she was only carrying one child, it felt very weird.

She looked at herself in the mirror as the makeup artist applied some light makeup on her face. She looked at Vivian who couldn’t stop grinning from joy, she was enjoying this and she wasn’t even telling her why she was spending so much effort in making her look like that.

‘So are you not going to tell me even now?’ she asked her friend one more time and Vivian shook her head in response.

‘It is a secret darling. A woman should spend some great time dedicated to her beauty and well being,’ Vivian answered her and Selena grimaced at that.

When she woke up that morning, she found Vivian waiting for her at her house and she didn’t remember calling her friend to her house the previous day. Vivian told her that she wanted to take her out and her husband agreed to it immediately without even a single complaint. Sean was even so generous he gave them his black card which Vivian couldn’t stop but swipe since morning for the massages and beauty treatments as well as her food.

It was now towards four in the afternoon and she was tired of being stuck in the massage parlor. It was a good thing that she was already dressed but for what occasion, she had no idea.

‘We are done Mrs. Sawyer,’ the lady said and she smiled at her. She really looked magnificent, she admitted to herself as she stood on her tow feet. Somehow the dress was as if it was designed solely for her and she felt beautiful wearing it. She looked at Vivian and gave her a smile. She felt really thankful for the effort her friend put in making this whole day like this despite being tired.

‘You can say it out loud, you know!’ Vivian said and she found herself tearing up.

‘Thank you, I love this look,’ Selena said and her friend gave her a hug.

‘You are welcome, now that we are done here how about we leave and grab you something to eat,’ Vivian suggested and Selena found herself laughing.

‘That will be a good idea and while we are on it, you might as well just slip the beans,’ Selena said hoping that her friend might indulge and tell her what was really happening.

‘We will get to that some time later but for now darling, let’s get you that burger you have been craving the whole afternoon,’ Vivian said as she hooked her arms with hers.

She gave up on that idea seeing how her friend was refusing to tell her what was really going on. She suddenly have a thought, maybe this was all her husband’s doing. Maybe he wanted to surprise her or something. That was the only explanation she could come up with. Since they had put a lot effort in it, she was going to see to the end just what exactly these people were plotting but she had a feeling that she already liked it.

She had rested well enough the whole day and it felt good having a massage. She just hoped that her arrogant husband will give it to her occasionally then she will surely be over the moon.

They got into the S.U.V and settled in the back. She could see her driver Richard smiling. It felt as if everyone was aware of what was happening except her. What was really going on? She was now so curious that if no one tells her in the coming two hours she was going to surely explode with anger.

Vivian instructed Richard to pass by the burger place where she bought her a big chicken burger and some soda for her to eat. She was grateful to her friend who didn’t complain much about her eating habits; maybe this was why she was so heavy now. She couldn’t cut off the food; she tried but that only resulted her in so much distress that Sean scolded her and she didn’t want to suffer that again twice. So since he loved her like that then she was just going to be natural and continue with her ways. By the time she finished her burger, the car came to a stop at the hotel. They owned the hotel so she wondered why they were going there instead of going home. She had been away for the whole day and she was starting to miss her husband, she was literally going crazy.

‘We are here,’ Vivian said as Richard got out of the car.

‘Why did we come to a hotel? Are we having dinner or something?’ she asked full of curiosity.

‘Yes, we are having dinner and everyone is waiting,’ Vivian said which made her feel relieved. That was the first time she agreed to answer her regarding what was really happening that night. Since they were going for a dinner, why did she let her eat like that before? She still didn’t understand her friend but she was going to go along with whatever she says now as long as she goes in and sees her husband.

Selena got out of the car and refused to get into the wheelchair. It made her feel as if she was just incapable of walking by herself. This was all thanks to Sean who made her get that damn wheelchair. Although she struggled to walk freely that didn’t make her unable to walk at all.

‘Are you sure you can walk?’ her friend asked her seeing how she was breathing heavily after taking a few steps.

‘I will be just fine. We can just walk slowly until we arrive besides it is still early for dinner, so don’t worry,’ Selena replied her friend.

Vivian was worried about her and she knew it but she just wanted to walk by herself even if it was difficult if she continues to rely on that damn chair then after she gives birth she might continue using it since she was so accustomed to it by now. She usually laughed at herself; she was probably the only pregnant teenager who moved around in a wheelchair.

When they arrive at the lobby they received all smiles and she could see the unspoken envy and joy in the employees eyes. No one was still talking and she could sense that something was definitely fishy. They took the elevator and Vivian pressed the penthouse button. She had never had dinner there before but there was always a first for everything. When they arrived Vivian was in the lead, she opened the oak door for her and she was really surprised by what she saw. How can such a hotel have such a suite like this? Did they forget to turn on the lights or did someone deliberately turned them off. She didn’t like darkness at all but she still walked in curious as to what Vivian was scheming. Vivian was a great schemer but all her schemes were harmless to the body which was always a huge relief to her. The second she got inside, the door closed making a huge bang which frightened the hell out of her and she screamed. She could feel her heart beating so fast, she thought it was going to fall to the ground. Who was so heartless to pull such a prank on her when she was carrying?

As her hands were covering her ears and her eyes closed, she suddenly felt her eyes twitching. The lights were now on, she could sense it. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around. She didn’t even finish looking through the suite she was already on the floor laughing out loud. How could she be so clueless and stupid? Who does that really? She was still a teenager so how could she forget such an important day? To think that she had absolutely no clue that this was a big day made her feel so embarrassed as she read the banner hanging on the wall.

She read them loud in her head, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY SELENA SAWYER.”

Now she knew why everyone had been weird all these days. They were planning this day and she the owner of the day was so clueless, they might have laughed at her behind her back but that didn’t matter now, this she really likes. However the problem was to get back on her feet again, it was a good thing she wasn’t wearing white. She now regretted not being in a wheel chair. As she struggled to stand up she saw Vivian coming to her with a smile. This time she really got her but before Vivian could help her, Sean appeared and she found herself crying. He rushed towards her and he scooped her up.

He used his fingers to wipe away her tears but they just kept on streaming down her cheeks.

‘I am sorry that I kept this away from you but I just wanted to see that look in your eyes,’ her husband confessed and she smiled through the tears.

‘I had completely forgotten about it. I like it,’ she said as she looked around, seeing the decoration but above all the people that had come to celebrate this big day of hers.

‘Happy birthday my love,’ Sean said as he kissed her on the forehead. Selena closed her eyes and let the intimate moment linger for a while. Her heart was racing like crazy because of joy, she was glad she didn’t pressure Vivian more about the day. This was one day she will surely never forget.

‘Thank you very much,’ she said as he looked at her after kissing her.

‘Let’s get you inside on a couch, I wouldn’t want you falling down again from shock,’ he said jokingly and she found herself laughing.

Sean took her to the couch where she sat, there were so many people inside who wished her a happy birthday and a huge pile of presents too. She had never in her entire life received such many presents before, so this was new and exciting.

‘I have another present for you,’ Sean said suddenly and she looked at him. He had given her so much, what more did he want to give her?

She looked in the direction her husband was looking and it was the balcony. She wondered what was there. She wanted to stand up but he stopped her. It didn’t take long before the glass doors opened and two familiar figures entered the room. She practically screamed and began to cry again as she saw what her present was. Her parents were here and it felt so good to be celebrating her birthday with them. She had never celebrated one without them.

They came to her and hugged her so tightly. She couldn’t believe that they were here. No wonder why they didn’t call her early in the morning to wish her a happy birthday. They were already here and knew what was happening before she could even know it. She looked at her husband and gave her a smile of love. She didn’t know what she could do without him. Every single day he finds ways to see her smile and happy. She just hoped that she will be able to do the same for him till the end of time.

Why didn’t you call me?’ she asked her mother who was smiling from ear to ear.

‘It was a surprise and it worked. I am glad to see that you are okay and happy,’ her mother said and she touched her arm.

‘I am happy to see you mom and dad,’ she said smiling back at them.

She now has everything she wanted, so the party began. A huge cake was brought inside and they sang the birthday song for her joking while they were at it. She blew the numbered candles with her exact years on it. It was a bit tiresome but exciting. She was growing older by the day, too bad she will not be able to catch up to her husband. He will always be thirteen years older than her no matter how much she ages.

Sean helped her to cut the cake and everything was settled. The caterers were now busy slicing the cake, while she was busy talking to her family and friends. Food was brought to her and she ate until she was full. Sean just kept on bringing food to her and she ate everything he brought. He meant well so why should she reject his goodwill?

As everyone was enjoying the party, Sean stole her from the crowd and he took her outside to the balcony. She could see the city lights. It was so beautiful she just wanted to remain there for a while, while she appreciates the beauty of the city.

‘Thank you for celebrating my birthday,’ she said as she turned to face her husband.

‘This is what I should do as your man. We share the happy and sad days together as one,’ he said taking her hand in his. She smiled at him, satisfied with the response she had just received.

‘I really missed you. I thought I was going to go crazy but now that I see you, I feel fine,’ she confessed to him and he drew her to him. Although they couldn’t hug like before she could still feel his arms on her and that was enough for her.

Sean gazed deep into her eyes, and she could see what she always see every second of the day. There was no need for anyone to tell her, they spoke volumes on their own. He loves her and so does she. Slowly he lowered his head towards her and she anticipated what was coming. She closed her eyes, as his lips brushed hers. She moaned with pleasure, she had missed this so much. It’s been a couple of days since they were intimate. Sean suddenly pulled away and she opened her eyes and practically begged him with her eyes. He smiled at her and lowered his mouth to hers once again and engaged her in a sweet and passionate kiss she nearly forgot to breath. She wanted him but she couldn’t have him. There were so many people present including her parents and she didn’t want them to see how their daughter can turn into a nymph.

Their private moment was disturbed by a cough, she just wanted to grab that person and throw him or her over the balcony. She noticed later that it was Victor and there was nothing she could do to her best friend’s brother. Victor stole her husband from her and Vivian joined her. They didn’t say a word to each other but simply smile because of all the joy that were coursing through their veins.

Vivian took her back inside to her couch but her husband was nowhere to be seen. With everyone enjoying their time, she just thought her husband was probably on an important call but when the lights went off again, she calmed herself this time. She wasn’t alone so there was no need for her to be scared.

As she was seated there, something unexpected happened. The projector was on and it started showing a documentary of some sorts. There were videos and pictures of her from when she was young until now. She couldn’t help herself but laugh as she saw how far she had come and how far she was also going. She cried as she saw the day she got married. She couldn’t believe that she was smiling like that. She had never seen that video before. Who took it? At the end of the documentary, there were words appearing on the screen.

“On this beautiful day a baby girl was born and brought so much joy in our lives, thank you for being born Selena. I know we met under abnormal circumstances but I don’t regret ever meeting you. Marrying you was the greatest thing I ever did. You brought so much joy in my life as well as those of my family. You taught me to love, forgive and be a normal person who lives freely and happily. Because of all that I just want to say that thank you for loving and be with a person like me. I am very sorry for everything I made you go through but I promise you that I will never let you suffer in your entire life. I will make sure that you are happy as you are now and I will not let you duffer alone. We will face everything together as one, just like our vows we took together that day. I love you and I will always do. S.S.”

She couldn’t help herself cry as she read that message that her husband had written for her. He wasn’t a great talker; it might have taken such great courage for him to say all this. She was really proud of him and happy that he declared his love in front of so many people. As she wiped away her tears the lights came up and there he was smiling at her and walking towards her. She couldn’t stand up at all, she had lost all the strength, she felt as if she will stagger and fall if she tries to stand up.

Sean reached her and went down on her knees. She didn’t even think much about it. She just thought that since she was seated he just wanted to be on the same level with her. He wiped away her tears and she smiled at him.

‘I love you more my husband and I will always do,’ she said as she cupped his cheek with her hand.

She could feel it, he had more to say and she wondered what more he could say when he had already done everything a woman could hope for. He suddenly reached for his pocket and took out a box. Everyone gasped as they saw what was happening. She just couldn’t understand what her husband was up to but when she saw him opening the box, she gasped too and looked at him with confusion.

‘Dear what is going on?’ she asked as she saw the sapphire ring in the box.

‘Selena Sawyer will you do me the honors of marrying me?’ he popped the question and she just stared at him with utter confusion.

‘Aren’t we married already?’ she asked confusedly as she looked at him.

‘I know that we are but I want this to be our fresh start. I never gave you a proper engagement ring, don’t you remember?’ he asked seriously and she knew the answer. There was no love between them in the beginning so nothing like this happened but this was different. How could she refuse him when he was being such a darling like that?

Selena stretched her hand towards him with a huge smile pasted on her face.

‘Yes, I will marry you as many times you want my husband,’ she said and made the whole audience burst into laughter.

Sean slid the white gold sapphire ring on her finger and it fit perfectly. She has always wanted that ring, she was just so glad that he gave it to her and fulfilled one of her greatest wish. Ignoring everyone that was around, Selena initiated a kiss between herself and her husband. She could heat the cheer of the audience until she couldn’t hear it anymore. She was lost in a world where only she and Sean existed with no one else. When the kiss was finally broken she was all red with embarrassment, she couldn’t believe that she did something like that in front of her parents. But they didn’t seem to mind at all, everyone was just happy with what had just happened which was a huge relief.

The rest of the party was spent with her clinging on Sean as if she was stuck. She didn’t want to leave his side and he just gave up on going anywhere else. By the time the party ended, she was sad to see everyone leave. Her parents were sleeping at the hotel; apparently Sean had booked them at the hotel and gave them a week getaway. Her parents were going to have a vacation while they enjoy a romantic time together which was a relief. She kissed her parents goodbye as it was time for her to return back to her marital home with her husband.

She sat in the car quiet as she thought of everything that had happened. She just couldn’t believe it, everyone fooled her and she fell for it. Next time she was going to pay attention to herself and those around her. Because there was no way she was going to have another surprise birthday without her knowledge.

When they arrived home, her husband disappeared for a while and she took that time to dress herself in that red sexy lingerie her husband loves on her. She no longer has that body to die for because of her pregnancy but that never stopped the two from being intimate to each other. When he returned she was lying on the bed and he smiled at her.

‘You do realize that we need to rest right,’ he said as he climbed on the bed in his gown.

‘Does that matter?’ she asked as he lay next to her.

‘I guess it doesn’t. Since it is a special night I may as well make love to my beautiful wife and make this year a special one,’ he said as he kissed her neck slowly. She moaned with pleasure as he did that.

‘I would love that dear,’ she said as she hooked her arms around his neck.

She knew what she was asking for and she didn’t mind at all. She wanted her husband and he wanted her too. They had been careful because of the pregnancy but for tonight all that can be forgotten. She just wanted to make love to him, feel him as he fills her in and rocks her world. And Sean never disappointed her, was it because he was older and has so much experience, because he did exactly that and took her places and rocked her world the whole night.

Selena looked at her husband at dawn, loving the way the sunrays were streaming across his handsome face. This man lying there was hers and there was nothing more she could ever ask for. So what if she was a little bride like what others calls her? She was still his bride, his wife, the mother of his children but above all his woman and she knew it that she was going to be happy with him by her side.

Love is strange; it has no frame, no rules and no requirements. Love is love.
