HIS LITTLE BRIDE (COMPLETE)

CHAPTER 12

Nothing more could make her happier than finishing writing her exams and going on another break. Exams were a bit hectic considering the fact that she had to read and had to suffer morning sickness here and there during her first trimester. Now that she was free from exams she had more time to tend to herself and her family.

Her pregnancy was now showing and it wasn’t a secret that she was expecting. A lot of people looked at her with disgust but they were going to get used to it. She wasn’t the first person to have s*x with a man. She was married after all and she was glad that she knew who was responsible and the person who was responsible was taking good care of her.

Because of the long vacation, she had nothing to do at home. She spent most of her time with Vivian who was busy dating her Edward. Things were pretty well between those two and she was glad that her friend found her own happiness.

She was really bored so she was lying on the couch watching cartoons on T.V. she heard the door opening and she ignored it, it was probably one of the maids doing their chores.

‘Is the baby turning my wife into a child again?’ she heard Sean asking and she quickly turned her head. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. What was he doing here at home during that time? He was supposed to be at work and not at home. Seeing that she was really looking at her husband, she rushed off the couch and ran to her husband. He scooped her up and carried her.

‘Someone is looking so happy. Did you miss me that much?’ Sean asked her and she nodded her head.

‘What are you doing by the way? Aren’t you supposed to be at work or something?’ she asked as Sean sat on the couch while holding her in his arms.

‘I was supposed to do that but I just took the whole week off,’ he told her and she looked at him surprisingly, not sure of what he was talking about.

‘Why would you take the whole week off?’ she asked him.

‘I want to company my young wife but above all we have a trip to make today,’ he said and she looked at him questioningly.

‘Where are we going?’

‘You will see when we go there. The jet is already on standby so let’s go upstairs and pack our bags,’ he said as he lifted her up again as he stood up.

She hooked her arms around his neck as he carried her up the stairs to their bedroom. He gently put her down on the floor and the two of them went into the closet where Sean busied himself with choosing the clothes. Lately he has been the one to pick her wardrobe and she respected his choice and loves it at the same time.

She smiled as Sean carefully packed both their clothes into the suitcase, they weren’t many but it was okay. She didn’t like moving around with too much luggage, but exactly where were they going that they had to take the jet with them? What schemes was her husband planning behind her back this time?

‘You need to change out of that,’ he said looking at her and she looked at herself. She was fully dressed, why did she have to change?

‘I just don’t understand why…..’ she didn’t finish as he gave her a pair of white jeans and a dress top. She undressed herself right where she was without moving. She had been getting lazier by the day ever since she got pregnant and her husband was getting used to it. She was glad that most of the work was done by the staff and not her.

She put on the clothes that had been chosen by Sean before putting on the flat shoes that he brought to her. She watched as he picked her clothes up and disappeared with them in the bathroom. She looked at herself and smiled. The dress top gave her allowance and didn’t make her feel as if she was suffocating. Because of her pregnancy she had been wearing loose clothes and every week her husband brought something new for her to wear. He was much more demanding, he reminded her of her mother. She had really missed her and wanted to see her so badly.

When she was done changing, the tow of them left the bedroom and took the stairs down. Richard was already waiting for them; he took the suitcase and put it into the car boot. Sean helped her to get seated in the car before Richard drove for the airstrip where the jet was waiting for them.

They were welcomed warmly when they arrived and she boarded the jet. She settled herself on a single seat since she was feeling sleepy and heavy. If she was to sit with her husband then it will be impossible for her to rest at all. Sean sat right opposite her before the jet departed the airstrip for the destination she still wasn’t aware of yet.

Sean looked at his sleeping wife; she looked beautiful even in her sleep. Her baby bump was showing and he was counting down days. In just five more months he will be a dad and that feeling made his life more exciting. He lived each day with anticipation of what the future was bringing to him.

It was really funny seeing how pregnancy can change a person. His hardworking wife had turned into a lazy bones, it was a miracle that she managed to finish her exams in one peace. He was worried that she will fail but even if she does he will still take care of her for the rest of her life.

He wanted to reward her for all the hard work and give her something she really was craving for. He knew that she will be ecstatic when she sees his gift and he couldn’t wait to see her face lighting up with joy.

Sean busied himself with his emails and making sure that he won’t be disturbed during this one week while he makes sure that his wife enjoys her time to the fullest.

After about two hours in air, the jet finally landed on a private airstrip and Sean helped his wife to alight the jet. There was a car waiting for them so it didn’t take long for them to continue with their journey. It was just a thirty minutes drive to Selena’s new home. He was relieved to see that her mood has changed since the second she realized that she was going to see her parents. It’s been over five months since she last saw them and he really felt for making her miss them like that. Now that she was pregnant it was good for her to go and see her parents, at least she wouldn’t be pressured about why she wasn’t conceiving. He knew how hard it was for the women to return to their maternal homes without showing any signs of pregnancy; they usually end up being criticized for not doing their duties.

He didn’t mind whether Selena got pregnant early or late. He just wanted to be with her but it was also good that she was carrying his child. He was getting older each day and he wanted to see his grandchildren too before he passes on.

‘Thank you for bringing me here,’ Selena said as she touched his hand that wasn’t on the steering wheel.

‘I am glad to see how happy you are. I should have brought you here sooner before you started showing,’ he told her, feeling bad but she squeezed his hand and smiled.

‘It’s good this way too. Do they know that we are coming?’ she asked him and he smiled at her.

‘Yes, I told them yesterday and begged them to not tell you,’ he said with a grin and she sulked.

Seeing her pouting like a child made his heart race. The he before he met her wouldn’t be touched by something like this but the current he was touched by every single action that Selena did. He couldn’t get angry at her or manage to see her being angry. It was as if he was bewitched and it didn’t sound bad at all.

‘You surely know how to deceive others,’ she said before looking out the window. He watched her as her hair flew all over because of the window. Seeing her struggle to keep it behind her ear was the most intriguing scene during the drive. He was happy seeing her like that and he wasn’t even going to bother to give her a ribbon that was just within his reach.

They finally arrived at Selena’s parents’ home and they were already waiting outside. The second they arrived, Selena rushed out of the car; he could tell that she had completely forgot that she was pregnant but since she was happy seeing her parents he was going to let it go this time. This was a vacation for the tow of them and he was going to create more and happy memories with the family that loves him even more than his own.

Selena was ecstatic as she was embraced by both her mother and her dad. They had totally fooled her she was angry at the beginning but not anymore. Just seeing their faces was everything she needed and she was happy that her husband had thought of it on her behalf.

‘You look beautiful princess, I almost didn’t recognize you,’ her mother said and she laughed hard.

‘I miss you too mom,’ she said and her mother smiled. She wasn’t surprised when she saw tears rolling down her mom’s cheeks. She wiped her tears with her own hands and hugged her so tight.

‘I am okay mom, so don’t worry and be happy, okay!’

‘I am happy this is why I am crying. I thought it will be hard since you are young and being in that kind of family. I just didn’t know what to think but now that I see you all my worries are gone,’ her mother said while spinning her around.

‘He takes great care of me and doesn’t mistreat me. Above all we love each other,’ she told her mother and rejoiced when she saw how she reacted.

Her mother didn’t say a word but she simply pulled her husband closer to her and she hugged the two of them.

‘Thank you for loving our child,’ her mother said and Selena looked up at her husband and saw ho teary his eyes were. It was rare to see him like that.

‘She is a special woman your daughter, I should be the one thanking you for raising such a woman,’ Sean said touching both the hearts of her and her mother.

‘No wonder why my baby fell for you, you are pretty good with words. Let’s go inside, I have prepared some snacks for you to eat,’ her mother said and led them inside.

Selena rushed to her dad and sat down next to him. She really loves her dad; he was always there for her and spoilt her rotten all the time.

‘I missed you dad,’ she said as she laid her head on his shoulder. Her dad patted her hair before he spoke.

‘I missed you too kiddo. How are you faring?’ he asked and she lifted her head up.

‘I am doing okay, soon you will be a grandfather,’ she said as she put her dad’s hand on her bulging belly.

He smiled at her and kept his hand there for a while, while he looked at her.

‘I can’t wait to meet my grandchild,’ he said.

‘You should see the names your dad compiled for the baby, he has been busy,’ her mother said as she joined them with a tray full of fruits.

‘Did he really do that?’ she asked filled with curiosity.

‘I will show it to you when you are done eating, now eat. I have heard of your weird eating habits,’ her mother said as she sat next to her.

Selena looked at Sean who simply smiled at her as he picked an apple slice and threw it in his mouth.

‘I guess you have all become besties behind my back. How can you not even tell me that you planned all this?’ she asked angrily at her mother.

‘It was a secret love and aren’t you happy to see us now?’ her mother asked, trapping her with her own words.

‘You know I am happy, I am just shocked that you kept this from me when we even talked on the phone earlier this morning,’ she said sulking once more.

‘I will make it up to you. I will bake you your favorite vanilla cake tomorrow, how about that?’ her mother suggested and she smiled at the thought of her devouring a cake by herself.

‘I can deal with that,’ she said and picked a strawberry and threw it in her mouth.

This was the best present her husband had given her and she was glad that he didn’t tell her in advance.

 After having the fruits she left home while her husband and her parents remained behind. She was just going to take a walk and stretch herself especially after being seated for so many hours. She knew that her parents had a lot to talk about with Sean and she was just going to give them the privacy that they all deserved.

As she was walking she spotted a tuck-shop and she made her way there. She saw a very familiar face and she smiled at the girl. She was her senior during high school.

‘Selena, is that you?’ the other girl asked and she nodded her head in response.

‘Yes, it’s me. How have you been Clara?’ she asked her as she steps on the brick to look inside since she was a bit short.

‘I am doing okay, just working here part time. What about you?’ she asked her and she looked at herself before looking back at Clara.

‘I came to visit my parents with my husband. Schools are closed so there is nothing much to do,’ she answered and saw the look on Clara’s face. She didn’t look happy at all but that wasn’t her business at all.

‘Is that so? I thought there were rumors that you were married. I just never expected that one second you are gone to the big city and the second you are married and now you are pregnant. Isn’t that a bit too fast?’ she heard the sarcasms in Clara’s voice but Selena just brushed it off, she was used to people like Clara and she wasn’t going to let her ruin this vacation for her.

‘I guess we all see things differently. Can I have two vanilla ice creams?’ she asked as she looked at Clara who was still waiting for a detailed answer which she wasn’t going to get.

‘Sure, they are one dollar each,’ she said as she gave her the two ice creams.

Selena took out the ten dollar bill she had in her pocket and gave it to Clara.

Clara was looking for change and Selena just wanted to get the hell out of her sight.

‘You can keep the change. It was nice seeing you again,’ Selena said as she left the tuck-shop.

She could see Clara’s face, she was probably angry with the way she just acted but she meant well. She had a lot of money, which change meant nothing to her and she just wanted to help someone she used to know and look up to. In this world you will never do anything if you keep on concentrating on what people say about you or think about you, Selena thought to herself as she devoured her first ice-cream on her way back home.

Before she arrived home she met her husband on the way and she smiled as soon as she saw him.

‘What are you doing here?’ she asked as soon as she met him in the road.

‘You were gone for long and you left your phone behind,’ he answered and she touched her pockets and realized that she didn’t have it on her.

‘I must have forgotten about it,’ she said as she finished her ice-cream.

‘Which is why I came to pick you up; your mother is preparing dinner now. Do you want to take a walk with me?’ Sean asked her and she nodded her head.

‘I can do with a walk. Do you want ice cream?’ she asked as she stretched her hand to give the remaining ice-cream to Sean.

‘No, you can have it. I can see it in your eyes that this isn’t even enough,’ he said bringing her hand back to her and she laughed.

‘I can see that you are getting good at this. We can go to the supermarket and you can buy me some chocolates,’ she said as she caressed her stomach and he smiled at her.

‘Let’s go and do that,’ he said as he took her hand in his.

Smiling she let him hold her hand as they both took another walk towards the supermarket.

They passed the tuck-shop where Clara almost stretched her neck trying to see who she was walking with.

‘Do you know that girl?’ Sean asked her.

‘Yes, we went to the same school but she was ahead of me. I just bought this from her and gave her the change and I think I may have pissed her off,’ she confessed and Sean laughed after hearing that.

‘Don’t just randomly don’t do that. I know you have a kind heart but not everyone will see your great intentions towards them, so next time see the situation before you do that,’ Sean advices her and she nodded her head in agreement. She could see that what she did might have been misinterpreted but it was too late to retract it now.

‘I will think about that next time, this is why I have you,’ she said as she leaned in closer to him.

‘You have a long way to go my dear but I will always be here to guide you well,’ he said as he kissed her hand. She felt her heart flutter; she was really a lucky girl to have found such a man who kept on giving her great life lessons.

His gaze was on her when they entered the supermarket and ignored all those flirtatious women who tried all their best to gain her husband’s attention. He bought everything she wanted in the supermarket and after that they made their way back home where dinner awaited them.
