HIS LITTLE BRIDE (COMPLETE)

CHAPTER 10

She was so excited; things were going so well especially after she told her husband about the pregnancy. He came home earlier and they have dinner together no matter how busy he was. She was happy and so were her parents. She had done it and no one will look down on her because she didn't perform her duty a as wife.

'What are you thinking about?' Sean asked her as they both sat in the backseat of the car.

'I am just happy. I can't believe that we are going shopping,' she said happily as her gaze was deep in her husband's.

'I never thought I will be doing this so soon but I am happy regardless. Let's buy everything that you want,' he said and she laughed.

'We don't even know about the s*x of the baby yet,' she protested.

'That doesn't matter, we can just buy neutral stuff and add more when we know the s*x of the baby,' he said as she put her hand in his.

'Okay, I can never win against you,' she said sulking but in a good way.

The car came to a stop at the shopping mall and Sean was careful when she got out.

'You know I can do things on my own right?' she reminded her husband seeing how far he was taking this too far.

'I know but we should be careful,' he said and she sighed. She couldn't even voice herself out, she knew what he was worried about but that will never happen.

'I will do whatever you want,' she said as she spreads her arms wide and he laughed.

'I will carry you if you remain that way,' he said and she quickly put them down. She knew that he was serious and he will do it and she was not going anywhere being treated like a person who wasn't capable of moving on her own.

'I will just walk husband,' she said and he grinned at her.

'I love it when you call me that way. Now let's go and but our baby stuff,' he said and clasped her hand with his.

Being with him like this was just so great. She was in love and it was great that her husband was treating her like this even outside. Those that used to mock her now they will be crying tears of blood with envy.

She followed her husband to the baby department full of excitement. When she was alone she never even walked towards that department, afraid of how people will view her but now she was flying and going everywhere unable to contain her happiness.

They took their time going through baby clothes and selecting all the neutral clothes that came to mind. To even think that they were shopping for a pregnancy that wasn't even showing yet was hilarious but she loved every second of it.

They spent the whole morning shopping and even chose a baby cot for their ten weeks fetus. After their shopping the two of them went to a restaurant where they bought their lunch and had it since they were both starving.

'What should we do next?' Sean asked her as she finished her glass of juice.

'I want to see a movie,' she answered him.

'Let's do that then,' he said as he stood up. After finishing her juice she stood up with him and followed him to the car.

Richard drove them to the movie house where they bought tickets for a movie that hadn't been sold out yet.

'Are you sure that you can watch this?' Selena asked her husband as she saw the genre of the movie that they had chosen.

'You want to watch a movie and this is the only one we can watch since all are sold out. I can watch it if you can,' he answered her.

'I have no problem with animated movies. I heard that this one is good, how about we see it for ourselves?' she suggested hoping that he will like it and she wouldn't waste his afternoon and bore him to death.

'Let's do that. You go and sit there. I will go and buy some popcorn for you,' he said and she smiled at him.

She loved the way he didn't judge her when it comes to food. She just ate her lunch and he knew that she will be hungry so soon and he was willing to solve the issue before it becomes big.

'Thanks,' she said and walked towards the lounge and sat down.

She placed her hand on her stomach and smiled. She couldn't wait to meet her baby. Whether her baby will be a girl or a boy, it won't matter. She just wanted to see her baby and cuddle her baby in her own hands.

'Oh, it's you Selena right?' someone called and she lifted her head up to see who was talking. She froze upon seeing the person who had just recognized her.

'It's been a long time,' she said pasting a smile on her face.

'It is indeed,' the other girl said as she sat down opposite to her.

'Are you here to watch a movie?' she asked wanting to just say something.

'Yes, I am here with my boyfriend. You probably remember him, he used to keep looking at you back in the day,' she said mocking her.

She really hated this girl a lot. She just came to her former workplace to just bully her and belittle her all the time and now she was acting as if they were friends.

'I am happy for you. I wish you happiness,' she said.

'Oh, there he is!' she exclaimed and she looked at where this girl was looking.

'Isn't he sexy and cool?' the girl asked and she nodded.

'He is,' she answered trying to just make everything go away but the other girl wasn't even bulging.

'What happened to you? I came back from oversees only to find you gone. Why did you even quit when you can't take care of yourself?' the girl asked showing off her expensive clothes and jewelry and inside she laughed. She wished that Sean will return soon and rescue her from this calamity.

'Something came up, I got married so I quit my job,' she told her.

She watched as a look of mockery popped up on the other girl's face, she didn't even believe it at all. The other girl looked at her hands and noticed the golden band on her finger and she laughed.

'I guess everyone is just getting married now when they fail to do something with their lives. I guess you were desperate.'

Selena became so furious that she stood up and looked at her.

'Jane, it is enough! I would like it if you leave me alone,' Selena said as she tried to calm herself down.

'How dare you yell at me, you w......?' Jane didn't get to finish her sentence and when she turned her head she realized why.

She smiled as her man approached wearing a serious look on his face. Sean wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him.

'Babe, is she bothering you?' he asked her as he looked at Jane who was now frozen at the spot upon seeing Sean.

'She was mocking me right now,' Selena told her husband as she leaned in closer to him.

'I don't take it lightly when someone bullies my wife especially in her condition. I will advise you to leave now or I will press charges,' Sean warned Jane and she smiled as she saw how speechless Jane looked.

'Do you believe me now? I have no use for your boyfriend because I am already taken and judging by the look on your face I can guess that you know my husband. It's a shame that you are not even aware of this. He is the reason why I quit working there,' Selena explained to Jane and made it so clear that she can understand.

'I am very sorry, I didn't know about it,' Jane suddenly became docile and she wondered why.

'Sir, why are you here?' Jane's boyfriend asked as he approached them and Selena was shocked and she looked at Jane.

'You girlfriend here was busy bullying my wife, I will leave her to you Thomas,' Sean said in a tone that literary spoke for itself.

'I will sir, please forgive us,' Thomas said.

Sean pulled her along him and he two walked into the theatre holding hands. Her heart was fluttering, seeing how Sean had rescued her from all that hassle and how angry he sounded when he was scolding that Jane.

After taking their seats, Selena looked at her husband with eyes that were filled with so much admiration. It was the first time she saw him defending her and it felt so good she just couldn't forget the look on Jane's face.

'Did she always bully you?' he asked her as he gave her the box of popcorn.

'She loved doing that a lot. I guess it is a crime to be born a bit poor than others,' she answered as she picked some popcorn and threw them in her mouth.

'Should I just go back and teach her a lesson?' Sean said sounding serious and she laughed.

'I bet that she had learnt her lesson now. That boyfriend of hers is probably giving her an earful,' she said imagining what those two were talking about now after the way Sean reacted.

'I will have a talk with the boyfriend on Monday,' Sean said and she looked at him.

'He didn't do anything wrong and I doubt that she will try something like that again especially after tonight. For my sake, forgive them,' she pleaded to her husband and he looked at her with a look she couldn't comprehend.

He stretched his hand and touched her cheek with his palm. He was so warm she leaned in closer to linger there for a moment.

'You are the best thing that ever happened to my life Selena. You have a heart of gold and that is something that is hard to come by, thank you for giving this kind of happiness to me,' he told her and she found herself becoming teary.

'I will do anything for you, because I love you with all my heart and I would love it if my husband becomes more forgiving. It is tiring to have only hate in our lives. Let's be happy now for the sake of our unborn child,' she said as she took her husband's hand and placed it on her stomach.

'I will be better, I promise,' he said as he caresses her stomach.

She smiled and felt butterflies all over. Having his hand there was just intriguing. The movie finally began and because it was an animated movie, there were fewer people in the cinema which gave them much privacy to do what they want. She was happy seeing how Sean was putting so much effort in watching an animated movie even when he wasn't used to it. She was going to show her husband how to be a normal person. It is not everyone who is born under good circumstances and lives a life with no worries.

She had met people who couldn't even afford buying a cell phone because it was a luxury to them, that money could be used on something more meaningful. She grew up that way even though her parents could afford a lot of things but there were days they had to eat no meat because they were saving her tuition fee. Because of her fateful meeting with her husband, she no longer has anything to worry about. She had so much money she couldn't use in her lifetime. She had too much of everything and her parents didn't have to work hard like they did when she wasn't married to Sean. She was really grateful to Sean. He changed her life for the better and she was going to show her gratitude by loving him till the end of the world.

She was glad that he was the first man she fell for. He was her first love and her husband. They practically skipped the boyfriend part but it was okay. She was happy and she was glad that she could share that happiness with him too. She was going to make sure that she raise their child well and enjoy their time as a family. She leaned in closer to Sean who ran his fingers in her hair as the movie continues to play. She just hoped that they will spend some quality time together like this. Once the baby arrives, it will be impossible to have time to themselves but it wasn't bad to have another addition in the family.

They were at a family dinner and Sean was excited, it has been too long since he saw his mother and he was glad that she was still beautiful as before. His mother was a strong woman and he really admired her for that. He never understood why she married his stepfather but as he grew up he understood; she did everything for him. Just like how she placed Selena in a corner to marry him his mother went through the same experience. He understood why his stepdad did it, he was just a man crazily in love with a woman and his mother wanted to make his future a better one. He was grateful for such a huge sacrifice she did and he wanted to see her happy all the time.

The maids poured wine for everyone at the table including his wife.

'Pour her some juice, she can't drink any alcohol,' Sean clarified and everyone at the table looked at him.

'What do you mean darling? I personally taught her how to drink, so why won't she drink now?' his mother asked wanting to know exactly what game he was playing.

'I almost forgot to tell you mother. My wife she is expecting, she is ten weeks pregnant now,' Sean told his mother and rejoiced when he saw the look on her face.

'Is that true Selena? Come here!' his mother asked full of joy.

He watched as Selena got up from her chair and walked towards his mother. His mother embraced his wife so tight, he saw her shedding tears as the hug broke.

'Thank you so much Selena. I will have another grandchild soon. Honey, did you hear that?' his mother directed the question to her husband, his stepdad and they all looked at him.

'I just heard that honey. This is good news, we should celebrate,' he said raising his glass.

Selena quickly returned to her seat, next to him and lifted her pineapple juice with the others and they clink their glass to celebrate Selena's pregnancy.

'Congratulations son. I am very proud of you. Take great care of her, she is a special one,' his stepdad said with a smile.

'I will do so father, I will not let you down,' he said and they all cheered.

The dinner turned out to be great in the end and they all had a quality time despite the tensions that already were there. After dinner Selena disappeared but he didn't worry much because this was also home and no one will surely cause her any harm.

'Your wife has been gone for long now. How about you go and check up on her, I wouldn't want anything to happen to my grandkid,' his mother suggested.

'Okay, I will go and look for her and don't worry as long as I am here, nothing will happen to her,' he said and kissed his mother on the cheek. He left the room and began to walk around the house in search of his wife but he couldn't find her inside so he went outside. He heard her voice in the garden so he walked in that direction.

As he walked there, he realized that she wasn't alone but his stepsister Wendy was also there.

'I have never seen such a hypocritical person like you before. So you finally managed to trap him with this pregnancy nonsense? Is it even his? I doubt if the two of you are even sharing a bed. Why would he even get intimate with you in the first place when this whole thing is just a charade?' he heard Wendy throwing accusation on Selena. Why was she doing that to his pregnant wife?

Sean was so angry and he was ready to settle this matter once and for all. His wife was a fragile woman and she wasn't able to handle such matters like this. As he took long strides towards his wife, something unexpected happen.

'Oh s**t! Do you know how long I have tolerated you Wendy? It has been so damn long that I too was getting tired of faking it. I have no beef with you but you just can't stop yourself from finding fault with me all the time and that doesn't bother me because I am used to it. What I do not tolerate is for you to insult my husband and my baby. What do you care whether we are intimate or not? Should I film a video and show you just how crazy my husband gets whenever we make love? Maybe I should do that and show you how he got me pregnant. As for the charade thing, what do you care? If it hurts you so much then find yourself a husband and marry too. I didn't cause you to divorce your ex husband so don't try to offload your unhappiness on the rest of us. Leave me and my family alone, if you can't stand us. I am pregnant and if something happens to my child because of your harassment I will make sure that you will never peace in your entire miserable life!' Selena said on top of her lungs.

It was the first time he had seen Selena exploding like a bomb like that. He didn't know she was capable of uttering words like that or getting angry to the extent of revealing such intimate information or provoking someone as crazy like his step dad.

'How... how dare you talk to me like that? I am older than you, so show me some respect!'

'I will show you some respect the second you start to behave like an adult. I don't care about the reasons why you hate my husband so much. Your family has got so much money; do you find it so horrible to share it with one extra person? I don't want to fight with you for any reason Wendy. I just wish that one day we will see eye to eye and have a normal conversation like sisters in law. I am sorry for how I spoke to you just now but I have to leave. My husband will worry if I am gone for too long,' Selena said and without waiting for Wendy to have another outburst, she left.

Sean hid by the corner and watched with pride as his wife walks away. He was proud of her; she had managed to stand herself against that bully and won. This was a day he would never forget. He was going to reward her but for now he had something else to do.

He walked towards Wendy who was still fuming with anger and he stopped right in front of her.

'You really deserved that,' he said while looking at her.

'You heard everything she just said. You see, she is a pretender!' she yelled and he smiled at her.

'I will be honest with you; her behavior just now really shocked me. I have always wished that she will explode like that one day and now she did it. I am happy that she offloaded the things on her chest and it is time for you to do the same too. We might not see each other eye to eye but let us not involve innocent parties into this. I really hope that we can live together and just be together without anyone fighting. Even if we don't like it, we are still a family and I hope that you can see that. If I ever done you wrong in the past then forgive me,' Sean apologized which was a surprise to both him and Wendy.

'Why are you apologizing?' Wendy asked him.

'Being with Selena had made me see the world in another way. She taught me that the world isn't all black and white but it is colorful. She taught me how to love and to forgive. I want to live my life peacefully with her now and I don't want any more fights between us. It is time we put all this behind us, don't you think so?' he asked her and saw her looking at the sky. He could tell that she was thinking and pondering over it which was a good sign.

'I am tired, I want to go inside,' Wendy said escaping from the issue at hand.

'Have a good rest then,' he said and walked away first.

It was a good thing to leave her alone like that, maybe for once in her life she will think things through for the better and maybe for once after two decades they can all have a peaceful meal together at the same table.

He walked inside the house and spotted his wife busy talking and smiling with his stepdad. She was one of a kind, she was lovely and free to everyone. He just hoped that they will all see what a kind creature she was and stop criticizing her. She wasn't a bad child; she wasn't driven by money, jealousy or greed. She was just a pure soul filled with so much love that she wasn't hesitant to share with those that surrounded her.

He was really sorry that he married her in such a hush, one day he was going to give her a proper wedding ceremony and together they will renew their vows and have a nice start again; seeing her smile with that cold man who only had eyes for his mother and money, made him cheerful. She was the kind of person he wanted to be with for the rest of his life. He wanted to have more children with her and have a huge family. He wanted to see her happy and his family for the rest of their lives. He has finally found someone he was willing to risk everything for and be happy with.

Love was really a cunning things, it came to him unexpectedly when he wasn't even prepared for it and it just keeps on making him fall and fall deep and deeper every second.
