forced marriage ch 1

1537 Words
As usual, the sun god was spreading its light everywhere today. But today was the real dawn for Mahi's life. Because since Mahi came home after completing her Plus Two from the hostel, she hadn't gone anywhere. And she didn't have permission to go out of the house either. Mahi was the only child of Singh Raghuveer Singh, 19 years old, 5.4 inches tall, fair complexion, long, thick, silky hair that reached her waist, lake-like eyes, dimples on both cheeks, and a face that could captivate anyone's heart. Mahi's mother had passed away at the time of her birth. There were complications during pregnancy, and after much treatment, Mahi was born six years after marriage. But the doctors couldn't save Mahi's mother. That's why Mahi's father didn't have any affection for her. He always kept her at a distance. Mahi's mother's shadow was taken away from her at birth, and Raghuveer ji also deprived her of fatherly love. He never hugged her with love. But if we lose one relationship, God sends another relationship into our life to fill that gap, which makes us feel precious and never alone. God gave Mahi a brother who protected her like a father and loved her like a mother. Rocky, the son of Mahi's uncle, was like a real brother to her. Both had more love for each other than real siblings. Rocky was three years old when Mahi was born, and he was alone because his parents were divorced. Then Mahi came into his life, and they both filled each other's gaps. Rocky loved Mahi very much and spent all his time with her. Rocky didn't get his mother's love in childhood either. His mother had divorced Mahendra because Mahendra had orthodox thoughts, and Rocky's mother was modern. So, they used to fight every day, and Rocky's mother thought it better to free herself from this bond. But she couldn't get Rocky's custody. Now both were growing up without their mother's love. Mahi's grandparents didn't love her because her face resembled her aunt Nandini, who had eloped and married against her parents' wishes. But Rocky's priority was Mahi. Mahi was very intelligent in studies, but Rocky was an average student. When Rocky scored only 60% in the eighth grade, Mahi's father sent her to a girls' hostel, thinking that Rocky spent all his time playing with Mahi. But Rocky opposed this decision and wanted Mahi to stay with him. Still, Mahi had to go to the hostel. Mahi would come home sometimes during holidays, and some family member would scold her for no reason. Mahi would sit alone and cry, and Rocky would do something to make her happy. Mahi studied in the hostel for seven years and scored 98% in her 12th grade. But the family wasn't happy because they didn't want her to continue her studies, thinking she would elope like her aunt Nandini. But Rocky fought with the family and got Mahi admitted to his college. Rocky was in his third semester, and it was Mahi's first day in college. Mahi was happy because her aunt's children studied there, and she would meet them for the first time. But Rocky already knew them and would meet them secretly. And he used to meet his mother secretly, and Mahi would talk to her over the phone. Actually, as soon as Rocky gained consciousness, he found his mother without letting anyone know. Then he would secretly meet her, dodging all the guards. After meeting his mother, he found out from her that he also had an aunt. Rocky's mother remained in contact with Nandini even after the relationship with the Singh family broke off. And now Rocky also meets them sometimes. Similarly, Rocky already knew Nandini's family. Mahi's aunt has two children. Anjum is the elder son, and Neha is the younger daughter. Anjum is in his last semester, and Neha studies in the same semester as Mahi... Rocky entered Mahi's room, shouting "Mahi, Mahi!" Mahi was already dressed in a light brown plazo suit with a light pink dupatta. Rocky teased her, "Mahi, who are you planning to electrify today?" Mahi replied, annoyed, "Brother, you too." Rocky said, "Mahi, how much more time will you take? Hurry up!" Rocky went close to Mahi and whispered, "Anjum called, saying Aunt Nandini is coming to meet you. Hurry up, we're getting late. Don't get too excited, it's visible on your face, like you've found something precious. Grandma will immediately understand from your face and her hidden interrogation officer will come out, and your interrogation will start right there." Mahi said, "Okay, has Papa left for the office? I need to meet him, I haven't seen him even once since I came back." Rocky replied, "Yes, he's left. When has he ever waited for us at home? He's only concerned about expanding his business, he doesn't care if we live or die." Mahi said tearfully, "It's not 'we', brother, it's just me. If I die, no one will care." Rocky scolded, "Don't say that again, or I'll beat you up!" Rocky hugged Mahi and consoled her, "I'm here for you, kiddo, why are you so worried?" Mahi continued, "Brother, Papa didn't even ask me once how I'm doing or how my results were." Rocky, acting like a watchman, said, "Oh, daughter, you don't know that your old man has a big project going on, that's why he's been busy these days." Whenever Rocky acted like Watchman Uncle, Mahi couldn't help but laugh. Mahi also spoke in the same tone, "Let's go, brother, or we'll be late on the first day and Auntie might leave without meeting me." As Rocky began to open the car door, the driver approached and said, "Sir, should I drop you at college?" Rocky replied, "No, I know how to drive. Are you new here? Don't you know that I drive myself wherever I go?" The driver said, "But sir..." Rocky interrupted, "Tell your sir that I've never listened to you before, and I won't start now. Move aside. I don't want to hear your sermons. Don't waste my time." Mahi and Rocky got into the car to head to college. As Rocky started the car and moved towards the gate, he called out to the watchman, "How are you, Uncle?" The watchman opened the gate and replied, "I'm fine, kiddo." Rocky and Mahi both smiled at the watchman and headed towards college. As soon as they arrived, they saw Aunt Nandini, Anjum, and Neha waiting at the gate. Mahi got out of the car and ran to hug her aunt. Nandini kissed Mahi's forehead, hugged her, and started crying. Mahi also cried, as she had never received a hug from her grandmother, and her mother's love had been absent since childhood. Nandini said, "You look just like me, especially these dimples." With tears in her eyes, she asked, "How are your grandmother, dad, and Mahendra uncle?" Rocky replied, "Everyone's fine, but..." Aunt Nandini looked worried and asked, "But what, son?" Rocky lightened the mood by saying, "If you both keep crying like this, there'll be a flood here!" Everyone laughed. Aunt Nandini had to leave, so she handed Mahi a tiffin box. Mahi asked, "What's in it, Auntie?" Aunt Nandini replied, "Your favorite carrot halwa." Mahi asked, "How did you know I love carrot halwa?" Aunt Nandini said, "Rocky told me, and it's my favorite too." Aunt Nandini bid farewell and left in her car. Rocky introduced Mahi to everyone, one by one. Anjum and Neha met Mahi for the first time and became emotional. To lighten the mood, Rocky said, "Let's go inside quickly, or I'll feel like bunking class again today!" Anjum joked, "Rascal wants to bunk classes. When do you ever attend lectures?" Mahi showed mock anger, "Just attend all classes quietly, no bunking lectures." Rocky made a face, "Okay, Masterji. Bye." Anjum and Rocky headed towards their classroom. Neha and Mahi, being in the same semester, walked together to their building. They were in a hurry to reach their classroom when Viren, with his friends, was coming from the opposite direction. (Viren Chauhan was from a well-known wealthy family in the city, with a reputation for being influential. Hence, girls often tried to impress him in various ways.) Viren, usually disciplined, was late due to traffic, which raised his anger level. Mahi was about to become the target of his anger. Mahi and Neha were heading to their classroom when Viren, with his friends Sanjay and Rubal, was approaching. In a hurry, Mahi collided with Viren, causing her register to fall. Viren angrily said, "Can't you see or walk? You haven't seen a handsome guy, so you go and collide with him. I'm not easy to impress, try somewhere else." Viren told Rubal and Sanjay, "What's wrong with these girls' minds? They carry a book in their hand despite having a bag... 🤣🤣🤣" Viren looked at Mahi's bowed head and said, "Why have you become a statue? Pick up your register, I won't pick it up for you." To be continued... What will be the outcome of Viren and Mahi's first meeting? Read the next part of the story to find out...
