The awkward encounter

224 Words
The next day, Ava walked into her history class, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. She spotted Jake across the room, and their eyes met for a brief moment. Ava's heart skipped a beat as Jake smiled at her. As Miss Clare, their teacher, began the lesson, Ava tried to focus on the material. However, she couldn't help but sneak glances at Jake, who was sitting a few rows ahead of her. Mia, who was sitting next to Ava, noticed her gaze and raised an eyebrow. "What's going on between you and Jake?" she whispered. Ava hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "Nothing, we're just friends," she whispered back. Mia's expression was skeptical. "You sure about that?" Ava nodded, feeling a bit defensive. "Yeah, I'm positive." As the lesson continued, Ava found herself getting more and more distracted. She couldn't help but wonder what Jake was contemplating whether their friendship might blossom into something more. When Miss Clare assigned a group project, Ava was relieved to find herself paired with Jake and a few other classmates. As they began brainstorming ideas, Ava felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. Ding dong, it was time to take a break Mia and Ava went to the cafeteria to get some snacks. Mia became insecure about Ava as though she thought she was hiding something.
