The revelation

After the confrontation in the hallway, Miss Clare's intervention had brought Ava and Mia closer together. They hugged it out, and Ava felt a weight lift off her shoulders. Mia apologized profusely, and Ava forgave her. "I know you didn't mean to hurt me," Ava said, smiling weakly. Their friendship was stronger than ever, but Ava's mind was preoccupied with Jake. She had been developing feelings for him, but a new revelation shook her world. Rae, a classmate, whispered to Ava, "You know Jake's ex-girlfriend is Tiffany?" Ava's eyes widened in surprise. Rae continued, "Yeah, and rumor has it, he was really cruel to her. She was devastated when they broke up." Ava's heart sank. She couldn't believe Jake would be capable of such behavior. When she saw Jake in class, she confronted him. "Is it true?" Ava asked, her voice trembling. "Were you cruel to Tiffany?" Jake looked taken aback, defensive. "Who told you that?" he asked, his tone rising. Ava stood firm. "That's not the point. The point is, did you treat her poorly?" The argument escalated, with both of them raising their voices. "You don't know the whole story," Jake said, his face red with anger. Ava felt her heart breaking. "Maybe I don't, but I know I don't want to be with someone who could hurt someone like that." The fight ended with Jake storming off, leaving Ava in tears. She felt betrayed, heartbroken, and confused. As she walked home, Ava couldn't shake off the feeling of disappointment. She had thought Jake was different, but now she wasn't so sure.
