"Does Mrs. Jacobs need a lawyer?" I asked. Natalia looked freaked out and now was not the time to sort it out.
Benson, with his usual sarcasm, says, "It depends on how she answers my questions." Well, s**t.
Mrs. Jacobs was already following him down the hallway. "Mrs. Jacobs, I'm going to get you a lawyer. Please do not answer any questions yet." I called after her. She nods, so I know she heard me, but she doesn't turn.
"Let's walk outside," I said to Neil and Natalia. I have a feeling she knows something she didn't a few minutes ago and the sheriff's department lobby is not the place to discuss it.
We walked into the parking lot towards where I parked my car. I wouldn't be surprised if the station had cameras and microphones placed outside for just this sort of thing.
