My long-awaited chance to shame this jackass was finally here, and I was not going to waste it. All I needed to do was hit the right nerve, and then it’s bye-bye Toddrick’s fragile little ego.
“Toddrick… I’d rather eat an adult werewolf’s s**t than ask you to be my date to anything, let alone the coronation.” His smirk disappeared once more.
“Besides, it’s not like any of those girls asked you out to actually spend time with you… All they wanted was a close-up of Sage and the other ranks.” He froze at my words. His humiliation and stupidity oozed from his pores.
My brows lifted in recognition. I hit it right on the head… Lucky me.
The corner of my lips quirked up in satisfaction at his humiliation. It was sadistic to say, but I was feeding off of every ounce of shame I smelled on him. And who would I be if I didn’t milk him some more for my own satisfaction? So that’s what I did.
“You seriously didn’t realize girls weren’t paying you any attention until this week?” Toddrick didn’t answer, he just stared at me, stunned into embarrassed silence.
“Awwwww. Well, now you know… They didn’t give two f***s about you. They only wanted to use you to get close to your brother.” I chuckled with a feigned pout. Todd’s cheeks reddened in embarrassment. I mentally applauded my victory in shaming this jackass.
“Have a nice day, Toddrick.” With two pats of pity to his shoulder and a taunting wink, I brushed past him and out of the building.
I walked to my white Range Rover Autobiography and climbed into the driver’s seat. When I cranked the engine, Best Friend by Saweetie ft. Doja Cat blared through the speakers, brightening my victorious mood further. The triumphant smile on my face grew, and I drove out of the parking lot.
I sang and danced along to the song as I drove. Not only was I elated from shaming Toddrick, but Kyson and Trevor were coming home today.
Few people know that my brother and I are the Gamma’s kids. We never made a spectacle about it growing up. The same with Trevor being the Delta’s son. It was mainly because when they were in high school, they wanted nothing to do with our family’s titles.
Kyson and Trevor refused to take over as Gamma and Delta of the pack when they were in high school because of Sage and Tyler’s bullying. But, when the four of them became best friends— which still makes me sick to my stomach— they agreed to take the positions after Sage practically begged them to.
So, the coronation this weekend isn’t just for Sage like everyone is making it out to be, it’s also for Tyler, Kyson, and Trevor.

When I arrived at the packhouse, I noticed the crowd of excited and antsy pack members standing in the roundabout driveway in front of the house. They seemed to be expecting something… or someone. Some were hawk-watching the driveway while others fidgeted with their clothes in an attempt to look presentable.
I gasped in excitement when I noticed one of the signs a service Omega was carrying that read, ‘WELCOME HOME, RANKS!!!’
Ky’s almost here! I mentally exclaimed.
I quickly pulled into the packhouse garage and parked in my usual spot. I turned off my car and hopped out before running to the roundabout driveway in angst to join the crowd, forgetting about my bag and books in the passenger seat. I was too excited to care about schoolwork right now.
The group was tightly compacted. Everyone was trying to get to the front so they could be seen by the soon-to-be leaders once they arrived. I wanted to be front and center when Kyson pulled up, so I decided to squeeze myself through the crowd to get there.
I’d nearly made it to the front, but there was one more line of onlookers for me to get through. Unfortunately, the LPP was in this row, but I refused to let them stop me from getting through to see my brother. I forcefully pushed my way through Carmen and Sadie to get to the front. They tried pushing back, but I wasn’t having it and pushed through until I was standing in front of the crowd with the perfect view of the driveway.
Carmen growled at me in annoyance. “I don’t know why you’re so desperate to get to the front. It’s not like you’re worth the glances. Sage doesn’t want to see your fat ass as soon as he gets here!” She folded her arms with a smug smirk on her overly plumped lips. Sadie and Sasha giggled at the pathetic insult.
I would’ve retaliated with a few great insults of my own, but the past year of therapy and self-reflection has taught me that insecurities fuel hatred; hatred that coaxes others to throw nasty insults at others who aren’t afraid to be themselves, no matter their size, shape, sexuality, or race. Clearly, Carmen hasn’t come to terms with her insecurities and she’s choosing to take that out on me. I refuse to meet her animosity. I’m better than that, and her. I decided to just ignore her and walk away, and I was going to, until my best friends, Jackie-Lynn and Joshua— aka Jackie and Josh— stepped in to my rescue.
“Carmen, I’m pretty sure the future Alpha would love to see this curvy bundle of thickness,” Jackie said, motioning to me. “What he wouldn’t want to see is silicon push pins,” she added. I curled my lips to hide my amusement.
The LPP gasped. Carmen was going to spit back another insult, but Jackie beat her to it.
“Piérdetes las Barbies hinchiables. {Get lost blowup Barbies.}" Jackie flashed her wolf’s eyes in warning, dismissing the LPP and their silicone-enhanced t**s.
Carmen huffed in defeat and stomped to the other side of the crowd in a puff of strong perfume and low self-esteem. The twins flipped their hair and followed their queen bee.
I smiled at my best friends of the last seven years in gratitude. “Thank you, Jack, but you didn’t have to do that.”
“Yes, she did. Somebody needed to put that bimbo b***h in her place.” Josh growled.
“Yeah, and besides, who lets an eighteen-year-old get a boob job and lip fillers? I’m still surprised her parents let her get them! All she does is flaunt those plastic bags around like prized trophies… I mean, look at her…” Jackie complained, pointing in the direction of the LPP.
Josh and I looked at Carmen, who was adjusting her cleavage-enhancing crop top to make her boobs show more than they already were. The twins quickly followed her action in their equally exposing tops. We snickered and laughed at the idiotic similarities between the three.
“She and her parents made a deal that if she got straight A’s and passed her midterms then she’d be able to get them done. And she did. So, to each their own, I guess.” I shrugged.
“Yeah, but everyone knows the twins were the ones who did everything. They may lack balls and seem like they lack a grand amount of street smarts, but they’re no idiots where books are involved,” Josh stated. “Besides, Carmen isn’t capable of straight A’s,” he snickered.
Jackie laughed. “Look, academic Einsteins or not, those twits and their future Alpha’s mistress need a size seven and a half foot up their asses-” the sound of engines cut off her rant.
I perked up when the cars rolled through the gates at the far end of the driveway. I was going to see my big brother in person after five years! I was so excited!
Before Kyson left, he was really thin and wore small, round, dorky glasses. His fluffy curly hair was always in braids or cornrows. He looked like Harry Potter’s soul brotha. That was one of the reasons Kyson was bullied in school. He was quite the nerd; even more so because he’d skipped ninth grade and went straight to tenth— Trevor too.
Every time I talked to my brother while he was away, he was either at a tattoo shop or the gym finishing up a workout. I also remember him telling me that he’d cut his hair. So, he’d definitely had a glow-up of some sort.
The four sports cars stopped in front of the crowd, pulling me out of my wandering mind. The engines turned off and one by one, the future leaders of the Shadow Howlers pack stepped out of their vehicles.
My jaw dropped when Kyson stepped out of his black Maserati Quattroporte GTS GranSport.
Gone was the skinny nerd with a head full of braids and dorky round glasses that were too small for his face. Now he was a lean, muscular man with a fade, and brown brow-line glasses that suited him perfectly.
What was left of Kyson’s fluffy curls was braided into a unique pattern along his scalp and pulled back into a ponytail, allowing me to see the new piercings that decorated his ears. The black t-shirt he was wearing hugged his defined muscles from his chest to his biceps, making it possible to see the tattoos that littered his arms here and there. Kyson has mom’s medium-dark skin tone, so the black ink showed vividly on his skin.
I figured Kyson would look different, but not this different; he was the stereotypical f**k boy now. I was glad though; he wasn’t the only Summers kid who’d undergone some physical changes.
“Kyson!” I exclaimed and ran and jumped on my brother. He stumbled a bit, but he caught me.
I squeezed him like my life depended on it. “I missed you so much, Ky!”
Kyson awkwardly chuckled. “Umm, I’m sorry, do we know each other?” He pulled me off him and held me at arm’s length. He seemed confused.
My smile dropped. “You seriously don’t recognize me?!” I asked in disbelief.
He shook his head no. “Sorry… Am I supposed to?”
I knew I looked different from all the weight I’d lost, but I still looked like me.
How could he not recognize his little sister? I’m appalled!
“So you don’t recognize your little sister?” I deadpanned. “Your sight must’ve gotten worse over the years.”
Kyson’s eyes widened in surprise. “OJ?!” He exclaimed incredulously. I nodded. “Oh my Goddess, look at you!” He yelled once more, excitement oozing from him as he picked me up in a bone-crushing hug and swung me around. I yelped in surprise.
“I can’t…breathe… Ky!” I wheezed.
Kyson quickly put me down. “Sorry! I’m just so happy to see you! You’ve grown since I last saw you!” He said, sizing me up, taking in my appearance.
I was a lot thicker in the past. I had a gut, chubby arms, and a chubby face. My weight mostly came from my huge thighs and butt. Now, I’m slimmer with curvy hips and a decent crease on my abs. I still have my thighs and ass, but they’re smaller and toned like the rest of me, apart from a good jiggle here and there.
My face wasn’t as fluffy as it used to be, but my cheeks were still chubby— they’re naturally like that. And my style wasn’t the best when Kyson left five years ago, considering I was thirteen… What’d you expect? I’m more expressive with my clothing now though… In addition to my tattoos and piercings.
“Well, it has been five years. A lot’s changed.” I shrugged.
“Yeah, I can see that. You look just like mamma, but lighter.” Kyson chuckled. I smiled at my brother.
Kyson was going to speak again, but a few people walked over. It was Sage, Tyler, and Trevor. “Hey man,” Tyler said, dapping Kyson up.
Upon seeing the future ranks of the pack together, the crowd started to disperse. I guess all everyone wanted to see was their faces and bodies. Weirdos…
In no time, it was just the five of us and the service Omegas who came to take the guys’ luggage inside. Jackie and Josh had disappeared with the crowd; I didn’t even see them leave.
I wonder where they snuck off to…
“Who’s this?” Sage asked. His gaze shifted between me and my brother in curiosity.
After everything that happened two years ago, you’d think he’d remember me. But alas, here he is... not a clue who I am... how cliché.I was fairly disappointed, but not at all surprised. I expected this.
Kyson pulled me into a side hug and introduced me. “This is my little sister, Olivia.”
Upon hearing my name, Sage’s eyes widened in recognition and shock.
Well then, I guess he does remember me… Oh s**t! He remembers me!
