The next morning Matthew trudged across campus to a meeting with Father Leo to discuss his progress on his thesis. Rain the night before combined with the falling temperatures to produce a thick fog, the perfect metaphor for how Matthew felt about his life. Discussing the lives and persecutions of gay saints who lived centuries ago didn’t seem all that interesting or important at the moment. Matthew arrived at the good priest’s office door. He knocked.
