Chapter 15

3698 Words
‘Care to tell me what’s going on now?’ Asked a curious Irina, walking with hot breakfast for the Hybrid leader who clearly looked like she had been through a lot. Eliana knew not where to begin, though one way or another she knew the truth would have to come out.      ‘Do you remember how Razaar and I were able to use the elements before in ways we never have been?’ Began the leader, not knowing where else to start. Irina had briefly recalled the miraculous moments, and only nodded, wanting to hear more. ‘Turns out the Yolegs could identify that when we walked in. When their master, Ozak Ingor, saw the prophecy, he had agreed to join the war instantly. He’s a wise and gentle leader, he cares for nature more than anything, so it wasn’t hard to convince him. Though he agreed on the terms that Razaar and I would train our particular elements in case anything ever happened to them, we would be there to protect nature in their absence. So it came to light that I have the ability to control water whilst Razaar can control fire, and whilst Ozak can control water too, his sister could control fire. His sister, Lyra, is the most evil person I have ever met. Her intention had been straight from the minute her eyes landed on Razaar, she wanted him. Though Ozak was our blessing and kept her away from us. Nevertheless, she still pushed her way in, and used her and Razaar’s mutual connection to fire to manipulate him. See when two nature mate’s touch, they are blinded within the connection because the inner fire in them wants to connect. Though it’s not a connection of the individuals, just nature. It is forbidden on Yoleg territory to exploit that connection because it gets in between the concept of mates, but Lyra didn’t seem to care. At first I had caught her inches away from my mate’s lips, and Ozak kindly locked her up. Then she found her mate, I exposed her to him, he gave himself to the flame and the next thing I know is she’s escaped from the dungeons and is on top of my mate, mating him like I’m supposed to. I know that Razaar is innocent, he’s completely blinded when all of this happens, it’s like he’s unconscious, though the trauma of the scene just got to me, and I ran away. I couldn’t bear to be on their lands any longer’ Irina processed the story with shock, acknowledging just how hard life had been for the poor pair that could never truly get the happiness they deserved, though it was only in their nature to endure hardships the way Leopold and Cassandra had.      ‘So, Razaar cheated on you?’ Asked Irina to confirm, though Eliana shook her head speedily to deny the allegations.      ‘No, if anything he was taken advantage of too. Though I just wish that the bond between us would have been stronger and he would have been able to come out of his haze’ she voiced, looking into space to finally process her feelings and bring herself to peace.     ‘Eliana, do you know why I lied to you about having one room the very first time you and Razaar were in my house?’ Irina posed, holding her friend's hands in her own. Respect was something that Irina had always had for the pair, though at the revelation Irina had more than respect for the pair, she had love and admiration. It was a feeling that only the truest most loyal friends had, and Irina sure was one for the pair. Eliana shook her head at the question, waiting to see where she was going with it. ‘I did that because I knew Razaar had done something wrong, but also because I could see the look in his eyes. He’s loved from the very first day he’s laid eyes on you, and I don’t need to have known you then or known the story of your rejection to have known that it’s true. He’s always loved you, he’s never once stopped caring about you, and despite your rejection he would never deliberately cheat on you. I am glad that you realise yourself that he is innocent, but you need to use that to battle those traumatising images. They aren’t real, not if your mate was taken advantage of and certainly not if his love and loyalties lie with you.’ Her words had been fully true, and the Hybrid leader was certainly aware of that, though it would take her a while to come to full peace, time that she did not have at hand. She nodded, setting her mug down before Irina announced the second piece of news. ‘Good, I’m glad you understand. Because your mate is here’ she revealed, standing up from the soft sofa she had been sitting on.      ‘What?’ jumped Eliana, having not expected that. As much as she knew of her mate’s innocence, she had not been ready to face him yet, though Irina did not give her much choice in the matter and it was time for the immortal woman to face her demons.      ‘I love you Eliana, but I’m team Razaar all the way’ commented the Amethyst Witch, winking before taking her leave from the room. Before she had even left, the Hybrid leader had sensed the presence of her mate right behind her, and on cue the man appeared in front of her vision, keeping his distance, knowing that things had yet to be resolved.      The pair remained silent as they stared at each other, not knowing what to do or say for the longest time. It wasn’t until Razaar’s expression of pain finally got to the woman, and she advanced forward, wrapping herself into the arms of her mate that had been innocent. He wasted no time in encircling her into his chest, and he held her tight, not willing to let go.      ‘I’m so sorry, Eliana. I cannot begin to-’     ‘It’s not your fault’ interrupted the woman, not being able to feel the sparks temporarily with her mate as the image had yet to leave her mind. Her slightly cold demeanor had been evident to the man, and as much as he craved to be whole with her again, he knew it would take time before things would return to normal, if they ever did.      ‘I wish I could have fought it, I wish I could have known-’     ‘Razaar, let’s forget about it’ said an emotionless Eliana, unable to bring herself to feel anything in that moment. It was the reason why she had needed the space to begin with, though she refused to let her mate feel guilty for something he was not to be blamed for. Knowing that despite her words he had yet to stop feeling the pain in his chest, the woman connected her lips to hers, though with the flashback pulled away sooner, pretending to be alright as she faked a smile and looked away from his eyes. ‘Let’s go back to the Yolegs, I want to finish off my training’ she suggested, adding surprises to the life of the Alpha.      ‘Are you sure? What about-’     ‘I trust Ozak will take care of Lyra. I just want to get my training over with’ she explained, evidently lying. The Alpha decided not to push it further, knowing the wounds would take time to heal, and trusted that everything would improve at some point by the blessing of the flame. Why the flame would put them through something like this to begin with was a question that lurked their minds, though it had also saved them from death, and so the riddles had yet to be answered, and things had yet to evolve. Though this was an event that happened against the very order of the flame, and soon Lyra would pay for her actions in a way that no one had expected it. The Alpha nodded at his mate’s request, wanting to follow her wishes till she eased herself back to comfort, and wordlessly followed his woman to say her farewells from the Amethyst Witches that had always been there for them before departing to the land of trauma once again.     Killing Lyra had been a tempting thought for the leader that had been vicious all along, though for once Eliana had been the vulnerable woman she never could afford to be, and so that thought had vanished from her head completely, accepting the fate she had to live and the obstacles she had to tackle. Therefore the one thing the pair had not expected to come back to, was a public execution of the very woman that had created troubles between the pair.      Ozak stood in middle of the clearing with everyone surrounding him, his sister on a pedestal, tied to a wooden log that she tried to burn in order to escape, though it had been futile as she was still chained to the shackles that prevented her from using her powers for yet another escape. By the time the pair had stepped foot into the territory, Ozak had already pierced a dagger through her heart, and had left her there to die a slow and painful death. The aspect of unexpectedness struck them as they pushed forward and got to the front, where Ozak and Anya’s eyes finally fell upon them.      ‘Please forgive me for my sister's actions’ the man said, collapsing to the ground in pain at having killed his own sister. Anya got to him in an instant to console him, knowing despite everything he still felt the pain of losing the only family he had left. The area had been silent, and the stunned pair were too shocked to say anything at first.      ‘Ozak, why? She was your sister’ whispered Eliana, getting close enough to the man so he could hear it. The crows had begun going in all directions, and a few members dismantled the corpse that had finally lost its life. Ozak regained his senses, and stood up, facing the pair with a neutral expression.      ‘No she wasn’t. She stopped being my sister ages ago. I should have done this ages ago, I just stopped myself because I thought she was my blood, but that mistake cost me a lot already. I was ready not to make that mistake again. She won’t be a bother to anyone ever again, and the flame can deal with her soul in the way he sees fit. All I know is that my parents would not have been proud of her, and this is what they would have wanted me to do’ he stated, beginning to take a few steps back. ‘If you will excuse me, I would like the day to myself, as I’m sure you would like it too after everything that has happened. We will resume our training at daylight’ he informed, taking his leave with Anya right by his side. The shock had worn off their faces as they returned to their shack, knowing now that the threat was gone, and it wouldn’t come between them again.      However Eliana had a few issues of her own to sort out in her mind, and so as Razaar fell into deep slumber, the restless woman had decided to take a walk in the forest in the dead of night to the only place where she would find comfort. The moonlight shone bright in the sky and bounced about in the lake, striking her immediately, bringing her instant comfort as always.      In that brief moment all her worries had disappeared, and the only thing that lay back was absolute bliss as she pushed away the thought for only a mere moment. Then, all at once, it all came crashing down on the woman, and she felt a pressure that could only bring tears in her eyes. The sobs that escaped her mouth had been covered as she placed a firm hand on her mouth to avoid attracting any attention, and with that, the brave woman cried and sobbed, eliminating all the horrid images from her mind. It was a cleansing process that had been necessary in her life, and one through which she was capable of processing every other thing that had happened to her, starting with her own death and resurrection. For some reason she still couldn’t hate the flame as much as she wanted to, though time would reveal the answer to that. In the meantime her pain had taken a turn that it never had and within seconds the rain that fell upon her head thunderously had been only adding dramatic effects  to create the pathetic fallacy.      With the rain came the awakening of the Alpha, who as soon as he realised his mate was missing from his side, ran out of his shack to look for her. In the rain, he knew not where to go, though when he focused to catch the scent of his woman, he traced it back to her location and froze at the sight of her sobbing figure on the ground. The pain in his heart could only increase at the sight, and he approached her slowly, falling to the ground and collecting her in his arms, holding her tight as he continued to allow her to let it all out. When her sobs had turned to hiccups, he turned her around to face her, and moved her as close to him as possible.      ‘I love you Eliana. I would give up every single thing in this world for you. You are the only living person I ever want in my life, and nothing in the world is going to change that for me, you have to believe me’ he pleaded, his voice breaking as an indicator of how desperate he was. Though it was time that the Hybrid leader put behind her the feelings of trauma, she faced her mate with the attitude she had been meaning to.      ‘Razaar, you stupid man. Don’t you get it? She took advantage of you, and this whole time I’ve been spinning the story to flip the pity on me. I know you were innocent and yet I’ve been acting as the victim when it’s actually been you. I should have been there to protect you from her. I should have known that she would escape and-’     ‘Hey, calm down’ he interrupted, noticing the tears and sobs bubble up within her again. Her words had warmed his heart, and he had every intention of putting an end to the incident right there and then ‘This is not our fault. We have had to go through what seems like everyone’s pain on this planet. We’ve been fighting for the greater good of the planet and all we’ve gotten is riddles, prejudices and obstacles. The one thing no one and nothing can ever change is how much we love each other. That’s all that matters. Let’s forget all that has happened. It’s time to move on. It’s time for us to get this war over with so we can have our happily ever after, because we deserve it’ he commented sternly, only receiving a slight smile from his mate before she crashed her lips onto his, joining with such a passion that she was sure she would never let go. Slowly the rain had stopped and as they looked up, they realised that it had been the upset woman that had been the cause of it.      ‘I think we definitely need those training sessions’ she commented, bringing her and her mate’s laughter out after a long period of sorrow.      For the rest of the night the pair remained in the forest, basking in the light of the moon, and sticking to each other for as long as they could before training would commence. The only concerns that remained had been that of Ozak, and whether he was really doing as well as he seemed.      The truth, however, was far from it, and as much as the man hated his sister, a part of him had broken at the loss of the girl, and he only had his mate to comfort him at a time of need. Looking up at her man, she placed a hand on his cheek and brought his attention to her.      ‘Ozak, you did the right thing. If someone were to behave like that with me, you would want the man’s death as well. Your parents would be proud of you, I just know it’ she comforted, only getting a nod from him as he did his best to reassure himself that he had made the right decision. He couldn’t help but let his mind wander to all the memories of his childhood with his dear sister, having brought her up in a way parents never could, and it pained him more the more he realised just how much he loved his dear little sister. Though he knew that his mate was right, and had he been in the situation Eliana and Razaar were in, he would want the man’s head who would take advantage of his mate. Keeping that in mind, he forced himself to seal the box of his sister's memories shut, knowing it was time to move on from the subject and focus on the next mission at hand: training the Ivory couple and preparing for the war that was to come.     His main concern had naturally been to protect his mate, though as he looked upon her he knew that she was a strong woman who was blessed with her element and was more than capable of saving herself in a time of need. With a smile on his face, he placed a kiss on her temple, and resumed getting the night’s sleep he had deserved and craved for so long since the pair had arrived on their territory with the devastating news about their planet.     With daylight came the air of freedom, and silence had taken over the previously noisy territory that had been tainted with the aura of someone so dark and evil. The changes had been visible, and as both pairs headed out to the training grounds to resume the activities that had been of importance, both had decided to put their past behind them and focus on the war that was to come.     ‘Razaar, Eliana, how are the two of you doing?’ He asked, being as polite as he always had been. The pair looked between themselves, knowing that the night had been as tough for the two of them as it had been for the brother who had just taken the life of his own sister, and so they flipped the attention back on him.      ‘We are alright, thank you. It is you we are worried about. Are you alright, give everything that has just happened?’ The words had stung like a knife poking an open wound, though the master masked it with the gentle expression he always held, and pushed the feeling aside forcefully, knowing that it had to be done and it was for the best after all.     ‘I am well, thank you. I have come to terms with my actions, and I have concluded that it was for the best’ he responded, terminating the subject right there and then. The pair had taken the hint and remained silent, allowing the man to carry on the session as he pleased. ‘Now, I think it’s about time we carried on these training sessions without any interruptions’ he stated, getting into teacher mode and fulfilling his word. For the rest of the day the pair had trained like they never had before, and by the end of it were achieving more than they had in the past few days, knowing that there was nothing left to get in their way.      Despite everything they had been through, the pair had still returned to each other, and no one had managed to shake the love that lay between them. The tough journey of the couple would soon come to an end, though in the meantime they enjoyed the few moments of joy and freedom they could afford before the next obstacle would arise and push them around.     The flame had been pleased with their progress, and had been content that they had passed the test that he himself had not planned for, and that in itself was a great indicator that this reincarnation of Leopold and Cassandra were as strong as the original couple and would go above and beyond to return to each other. Whatever was to come, the flame was sure that the pair would make them proud and achieve what they were meant to when they were sent on the great planet of Zaleon. With great creations like these, Zaleon had a greater chance of surviving, and just maybe the pair would achieve the ultimate peace that Leopold and Cassandra couldn’t on their planet, and bring peace to the flame that for so long lived the haunting memory of the loss of his woman.
