Chapter 12

3696 Words
Lyra had given up looking for her mate the very day she turned 18, it was a sign of blatant disrespect to the flame as vengeance for taking her parents away from her at that age, and a clear highlight of her impatient nature. The woman had become someone who fought for what she wanted, though what she wanted was not always the right thing. Having nightly companions had been one thing, though wrecking a relationship for the sake of a connection with the attractive Alpha was a completely different thing.      Little did the woman know that her mate had lived within her own kind for the longest of times, though he had been a little preoccupied whilst being in deep meditation with the element that was his to deal with: wind. The poor man had only been ensuring that he had fulfilled his duties as a Yoleg, and kept the flow of the wind straight before he would lift from his mediation, and it was only too bad that his mate was not patient enough to wait for him. Though the revelation had yet to come to light, though when it did, it would surely come with a boom that would shake up the entire situation they were in to begin with.     In the meantime the plan of the woman had not faltered, she had yet to woo the man that was committed to the immortal woman, though the plan that Lyra had in mind was sure to create a few issues between the pair that were the very reincarnations of the glorious Leopold and Cassandra. It was an idea that the flame had not agreed with in the slightest, though as he watched the plan in her mind, he decided to let her plans follow through, placing the pair through a probationary period of some sorts, testing to see if they really were in love with each other as much as they claimed to be. It was a test to determine whether their love was as strong as the God and Goddess of fire and water, and despite creating them, the flame only wished to see if he had done a most successful job.     The minx had executed a plan that in her mind worked to the greatest of abilities, it was only a matter of time before reality would show its results. She knew for a fact that the Hybrid leader had been annoyed at her mate for not being able to do anything in their previous interaction, and knowing how stubborn the woman could be she waited for her to exit the shack they had been staying in first, knowing she would no doubt leave him for a mere moment to get her own air. And that is when her plan began. Though unlike with Selina, the Hybrid leader had put aside her plans to test the Alpha, knowing he was a loyal man despite what she had seen, and in her oblivion, had made the great mistake of leaving the tent early for training, just to get away from her mate for a minute. She had left the tent unsupervised, and she should have known that the cunning woman would return to the shack, much like Selina had to seduce her man. The only difference was that this time the Alpha had no control over his actions, he had been solely controlled by the woman that held the same power of fire he did.      To Razaar, his mate’s separation had been something he definitely was not pleased with, though learning from the differences they had in the past, he let her wander off, knowing she would be better off when she got the space she deserved. The concept had been bizarre from him, not having remembered much of the interaction he had with the woman yesterday. His only memory had been that of the connection he had with the fire within him, though when the truth would unveil, it would perhaps change the entire perspective of the man. Lyra had been for him like any other woman on their planet: unimportant and cunning, and he had no intentions of hurting his mate in any way possible, for that reason he had thought of doing whatever he could to stay away from the woman that somehow always got too close.  He had yet to process the happenings of the previous day, and despite not knowing what happened, all he knew was that his mate was upset, and he could not afford to replicate such a situation.     As the man had gotten ready to leave for his training, where he would encounter his mate, he was stopped by the door of the shack when it burst open and a smirking Lyra walked in, swinging her hips towards the Alpha she had every intention of manipulating.      ‘What are you doing here?’ Questioned the angry Alpha, ready to banish the woman from his sight, though before he could the woman had placed her hand on his chest, bringing the fire to the tips of her fingers, and initiating the process of seduction. The sparks and connection of nature had taken immediate effect, and in the moment of paralysis, Razaar had once again forgotten to push away the woman that only kept getting closer.      ‘You feel that? Only I can make you feel that Alpha Solonov’ she began, holding his eyes to hers, as he lost himself in the manipulative connection she had set up. He had not been able to say anything further, and could only watch as she moved her hands so they were flat on his chest, and inched her face closer to his. ‘Tell me, who do you want, Razaar? Me or Eliana?’ Her question had been rhetorical, knowing he most certainly could not answer in his state. The Alpha remained silent, only thriving on the sparks that went through his body, so much so he had not realised in consciousness that the woman had been only inches away from his mouth, and that, was a dangerous thing.     As Eliana waited by the forest grounds for training to begin, she had started understanding how blissful the connection to nature could be just by looking at the beauty that surrounded her. The Yolegs sure lived poorly, though the atmosphere that surrounded them changed the entire perspective of things. Her reflection in the water below her had calmed her down beyond belief, and as she looked down at the odd transparent liquid that flowed in any way you moulded it, the fascinated woman waved her hand through the fresh stream of water, surprised when the water she had been touching elevated with her hands as she pulled away from the stream. She had yet to figure out how to fully control her abilities, though watching her hands pull out water into the air as if it were nothing was something that she was still not used to doing.     ‘Fascinating isn’t it?’ As the voice shook the woman from behind, and as she turned around, the blob of water fell on her feet, alarming her back to her original state. Ozak chuckled as he walked up to her, a proud smile on his face. ‘I see you are learning quickly’ he stated, impressed with the slight progress of his student.     ‘I don’t even know how I did it’ wondered the Hybrid leader, feeling pride at her achievements despite not knowing how she had come about conjuring such a thing.      ‘Nature flows in our veins. Any nature controller is born with a part of nature embedded within them, we were created with the element of water well present within us, so it’s only a matter of feeling to be able to control it. It’s like having extra hands that you can learn to use. Think of it this way, you have a wolf and snake inside of you, and the only reason you can shift so easily, is because you feel those presences within you, you call to them and they come out at a time of need. You control that part of your life, it doesn’t control you. Similarly the element of water is a power that lies within you, you’ve just been unaware of it for the majority of your life. It’s time to learn about yourself and control the magic that is within your hands.’ He explained in a fascinating way, leading Eliana to understand and appreciate his way of teaching. He sure had been a large contrast to his sister, and the more she thought about it, the more tempted she had been to ask until the words tumbled out of her mouth.      ‘Are you sure your sister and you are related?’ The question had only lightened the mood, and Ozak found himself laughing once again, finding the right words to explain his minx of a sister to the immortal woman.      ‘My sister is a troubled young woman. My parents had her when they were quite old, though she very much enjoyed growing up with them. When my father passed away a few years ago, my mother could not bear the pain, and she gave herself to the flame to be with him. That image has been haunting Lyra, she thought that her mother didn’t love her enough and so she left her. From that day onwards the concept of mates has been tainted in her vision, and she gave up looking for her mate, started sleeping around with nightly companions, though she’s never been a home wrecker before. I don’t know what fascination she has with you and Razaar, I just hope that with time she’ll understand that it is not right to do so and she’ll leave you and your mate alone’ his words had been comforting, no matter what had been happening back at her shack, the woman had faith that Lyra would learn her lesson one way or another, she just had no idea that it would be the messy way.      ‘Do you have a mate, Ozak?’ Asked the woman, knowing that any woman the man would have would be lucky to have a mate like him. He truly was a gentle soul, one that contrasted his sister in every way, and deserved all the best. The smile on Ozak’s face dropped slightly, and Eliana regretted instantly asking such a personal question.      ‘I do, she’s been in meditation for the past three years’ he admitted, slightly upset at the revelation. The fact had surprised Eliana, who had no idea what that meant. The look of confusion on her face said it all, and the man decided to explain to clear up the doubts for the woman. ‘Every three years a singular member from each element goes into deep meditation to ensure the smooth running of nature around the planet. It’s all turned out, so every three years it’s a different pair that has to go through the pull. Sooner or later every single mated pair has to go through it, but it is for the best, it just means you can’t communicate with your mate for three years. My mate, Anya and I had been together for three years before she went into meditation, and I have been waiting for her return ever since so we can get married and have children. I have already been through my mediation so now I’m just waiting for my mate’s return, which actually, is tomorrow’ he announced, getting excited at the thought of his mate returning from her state. The news had alarmed the woman completely who had been completely unaware of all these details.      ‘That must be so hard for you, three years is a rather long time. How do you manage?’ Asked the woman, knowing from experience that being away from her mate had been a real pain.      ‘We're Yolegs, it’s our job to be in love with nature as it is to be in love with our mate. If our mate goes into mediation it’s only for the best of the other thing we love the most: nature. So it’s not all that bad. I guess our priorities are just slightly different to the ones everyone else has. His positive attitude had put a smile on Eliana’s face, who more than ever admired the man in front of her.      ‘What’s your mate’s element?’ She asked out of curiosity, wanting to shed more light in the man’s life.      ‘Earth’ he stated, a smile dancing on his face.      ‘Well, I can’t wait to meet your mate tomorrow, I’m sure she’s a really lucky woman’ she mentioned, before her thoughts roamed to her own mate, and she realised that Razaar had yet to make an appearance to training, and he was very much late, which he normally never was. ‘Speaking of which, where is Razaar?’ It had slipped her mind in the moment of distraction that the sly Lyra had still been after her mate, and she would do anything to get to him, and when that realisation struck on her expression, it took Ozak no time to piece together her thoughts, and come to the only conclusion of the whereabouts of the man.      ‘Lyra’ whispered the master of Yolegs, following the Hybrid leader as she dashed back in the direction of the shack she had come from. She had been terrified of what she may encounter when she opened the door, and for good reason, because as she opened the door, she was faced with a sight that had slightly broken her heart.      In front of her stood Lyra, inches away from Razaar’s lips, though not quite having had the chance to do anything yet, and the Alpha remained stationary as always, without being able to push her away in his entranced state. The actions of the woman had not surprised Eliana, though her mate’s reluctance to movement had, especially after their previous conversation about it. As soon as Lyra’s attention fell on the Hybrid leader and her brother, her hand dropped from Razaar’s chest, and the man found himself awakening from the enchantment, realising the situation he was in. He had not been able to remember how he kept getting into these situations, though he pushed the woman away upon noticing his mate by the door, though it was too late for him.      Lyra had only smirked as the immortal woman took a step back, feeling the pain go up her nerves. Razaar had pushed past Lyra and had begun approaching his mate, though she put her hand up to stop him, and shook her head in silence, turning around to dart away a second later. She needed to be alone desperately to process that her mate was, in fact, about to let someone else kiss him, and the thought had hurt her more than she thought it would have. The smirking minx had achieved what she wanted, and didn’t bother holding the man back who ran after his mate, needing to explain himself despite not having a clear explanation to begin with. Though the one person who could explain the whole thing had been glaring holes at his sister, who had crossed the line and would definitely suffer the consequences of her actions. Nevertheless, Ozak pushed the thought of punishment for later, and ran after the pair to explain that the Alpha had been innocent in the games of his sister.      ‘Eliana, wait, let me explain please!’ yelled Razaar from a distance, following his mate’s scent. He ran with lightning speed, reaching his mate in record time, though it was definitely not what she wanted nor needed.     ‘I don’t need any explanations Razaar, I just want to be left alone, I-’      ‘Eliana, it’s not what you think it is’ interrupted Ozak, arriving at the scene. Razaar had been surprised that the master was supporting him, though he was grateful nevertheless. The Hybrid leader had no idea the stuff the man would reveal, and so she ignored him, turning around to make her escape, before Ozak did the unthinkable, and grabbed the woman’s hand, entrancing her like Lyra had Razaar, to prove his point.      The Alpha had been confused for sure, though before he could protest against it, the image had begun making sense to him, watching his mate remain silent and hypnotised by the master of Yolegs. When his hands let the woman lose, she snapped out of her enchantment, though looked with utter confusion at the man who had done so.      ‘What was-’     ‘That was what was holding Razaar hostage’ intervened the man once again, bringing confusion to both members of the pair. When the Hybrid leader and Alpha remained silent, he decided to continue. ‘Like I said, the Yolegs are created first and foremost for nature. That is our greater strength and happiness, so much so that we sacrifice three years with our mate for it. People that are born with a connection to a certain element all have this special connection between them, it’s not as strong as the mate bond, but it’s close enough. It can entrance you into a bond like nothing else, but in reality it’s just a way for the elements within ourselves to connect. When I touch you or Lyra touches Razaar, that is exactly what happens, our elements come forward and they find a way to connect to each other and be one. It is truly a beautiful concept, but one that clashes with the idea of mates. For that reason it is forbidden to any Yoleg with the same element to touch or connect in such a way, because it is a large factor of concern when it comes to having mates and nature mates at the same time. The Yolegs have, for centuries, followed the order of the flame and strayed away from embracing our nature mates just to keep our actual mates happy. I know it’s a confusing concept, but that’s how my sister has been getting to Razaar, he has no control over himself whatsoever because my sister hypnotises him in that powerful bond. So whatever you saw, it wasn’t real, it was all just a manipulation’ he revealed, visibly calming the woman down with his words. The image had begun making sense to the both now, who looked between each other for a brief moment before Eliana focused back on Ozak.      ‘So you’re saying that it was beyond Razaar’s control? He had no idea what was happening?’ Her question had been just for reassurance, to understand that her mate was innocent in all of this and restore her faith in him.      ‘Yes, Razaar wouldn’t have realised anything the moment she initiates that contact with him. I should have told you before, it’s just a sacred concept between us, I didn’t think my sister was capable of stooping so low. Though I won’t let it happen again, I promise. I will transfer my sister to a cell tonight, strip her of connection to nature, and that is where I will keep her for the duration of your stay’ He mentioned, bringing some relief to the system of the pair, who had taken a deep breath upon realisation of the truth. Eliana nodded, not protesting against his words.      ‘I would appreciate that, thank you Ozak’ she said, watching him nod with respect before taking off to confront his sister. As the pair faced each other in lonesome, Razaar decided to ensure that his mate really was ok.      ‘Eliana, I-’ his words were cut off when the woman decided to embrace her mate, however, and the action had been enough to signal that everything would be alright between them now that the truth was out and a solution had been found.      ‘Let's forget about it’ she stated, silencing him as he wrapped his arms around her tighter, and remained there with her for the longest time in a while.     Ozak had found his sister wandering about in her shack, waiting for her brother to come and complain, though she certainly had not expected him to incarcerate her like he planned to. When the man entered her home, and glanced upon her smirking figure, he knew at that moment that his sister was lost long ago, the very moment their mum had given herself to the flame, and since then he had no real sister.      ‘Why?’ He asked, not needing to clarify any further.      ‘Because I hate mates. I despise them. I wanted the Alpha, and I plan on taking him, no one tells me what to do’ she responded, her childishness falling through in her words. The look of disappointment on his face had struck her, though she masked it with the cold demeanor she carried around.      ‘Mother gave herself to the flame because of the love she had for our father, what part of that sounds terrible to you. I understand that she left you sooner than expected, but can you imagine the love they had to have had if she was capable of doing that. We all have nature mates in this world, but nothing can break our connection with our real mates, that will always be superior’
