NEXT DAY
A kaleidoscope of emotions are coursing through me right now. Tonight is the mating social. I’m nervous, happy, anxious and a little giddy. Adam and I haven’t spent a lot of time together, but he has picked me up from school and we’ve taken advantage of that time. That’s the extent of it though. After my father caught me sneaking back the last time, I was too embarrassed to sneak out again.
The look on his face was enough to mortify me. He didn’t say anything, but the grimace on his face was enough to tell me he knew where I was and what I was doing. “Oh please! Just the other day you caught him and mom in the kitchen with their clothes all wrinkled and crooked. You pretended to believe he had come home for lunch.” Felicity snorted with laughter.
