A few days after Princess Tarella had the conversation with her mother concerning her relationship with Tezan, she was summoned by her father. It was shortly after lunch. She left her room leaving her maids in the room while her guards followed her as she walked down the hallway.
She got to the front of the door to her father's room and her father's guards greeted her with a slight bow and her guards exchanged pleasantries with them. She knocked on the door and she heard her father's baritone voice behind the door asking her to come inside.
She turned the doorknob, gently pushed the door open, and entered the room. She saw her father lying on the bed and he was gazing at her with an impassive face which was unusual as her father always smiled at her every time she visits him in his room.
