Chapter 9

2860 Words
Rachel's POV. I glared at the bland, rancid soup on the floor beside me in disgust. I moved my eyes to the stale bread beside it and I could literally feel its hard texture without having to touch it. I rolled my eyes and waited silently for the rats to come and feed on them. I'd been freed from the ropes but then they began using the lock on the door. I tried all possible escape routes but the room was sealed inside out. There was a non existent window meaning there was no window in the room. The other door had been nailed with wood and iron bolts. The ceiling had been sealed with cement and the room was like a vacuum with words reverberating on the walls. I assumed it was a basement. I requested for a writing pad and a pen and the boss granted my request, but not for free. I had to sing, or dance for him. I’d written so many drafts and short stories like poems that were worth publishing. I guessed inspiration also came from fear as fear was an emotion. My mind often wandered off to my dad. I knew how devastated he would be now that I was missing without a trace. I also thought of Drew. I wondered why he was not here. The boss always said that only Drew knew this place and like the fool he was, he would come alone. The pessimistic part of my mind chose to think he didn’t care enough about my life to want to save me but then I knew that couldn’t be the reason. He was probably trying to draft out a plan and not just barge in here. He should know the boss and what he was capable of. I thought I was going crazy though. I didn’t know how long I'd been in there. It could be a few days, a week, two weeks, I had no idea. The last time I saw nightfall and dawn was the day I was captured and the last time I saw sunlight was the day before that. I felt like I'd been here for a week. The boss doesn't tell me anything when I ask. He only told me he wouldn't hit such beauty. "Yes my loves. Eat the food,” I whispered to the rats as they clustered around the meal. My stomach growled for the 7th time but I ignored it. I'd rather starve than to eat the food and die from poisoning. My eyes snapped up to the door when I heard the clicking of the bolt. The door opened and in walked creep number 2. "Ay princess. I see ya fed yur food to da rodents. Ya don't like it?" He jeered and grinned showing his crooked teeth. I rolled my eyes and scoffed not replying him. "You know why yur here, don't ya?" He asked. "The boss needs Drew to come here and blah blah blah…" I said and rolled my eyes. The man started laughing hysterically. "Ya been brainwashed Lady. He needs he nephew to come here. Drew is his nephew." He explained in his usual broken English and I thought I was going crazy. Drew was his nephew. Drew had a psychopath for an uncle. I thought pops was his only living relative besides his brothers. I really had to escape. I knew I had to leave. For my safety, for Drew's safety. I’d looked into the boss's eyes, I saw hurt, darkness, I saw a man who wanted revenge. I needed to think. I needed to act fast. "Get the boss in here." I demanded and he looked at me like I was crazy. "Lady I can't just go get the boss. Are ya crazy?" He said and I shrugged. "Maybe. Get him or I'll scream till he comes himself. Starting now!" I suddenly started screaming as loud as I could. The creepy man looked like he was about to faint from fear. Such a baby. "Aye Lady stop!" The man shouted in fear but I smirked and kept on screaming. I knew he would be in so much trouble when the boss got down. I kept on screaming, even though my throat starts to hurt. I heard thundering footsteps coming in our direction and soon, the huge body of the deadly boss fills the room. The creepy man started shaking like a jelly fish and the boss looked round the room till his eyes landed on me. "Why the f**k are you screaming the house down?" He bellowed and I remained rooted to the spot even though I wanted to crawl under a bed and hide. "I wanted to get your attention." I said and he hummed. "Huh... Well what the hell do you want this time and make it quick." He said and I smirked and pointed to creep behind him who looked like he was about to pee in his pants. "And why the f**k are you in here?" The boss growled. "I-I c-came to… S-S-she was n-not…" He stuttered incoherently. "He gave me stale food and came in here to jest about me giving the food to rats. I need food if I'm going to survive in here so I want fresh soup and bread." I asked and he growled turning to Mr creep. "Get her good food first and then come to my office." He said and walked out of the room. The man followed behind, going to get me food forgetting to lock the door. I contemplated trying to escape and the thought danced around in my mind and I just followed my body instead of over thinking. I ran out the door into a small corridor and I came across a stairway at the end of the corridor. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and I quickly ran into one of the other rooms on the corridor. The footsteps passed and I opened the door slowly to find the corridor clear once again. I ran up the steps and found the entrance to the house pretty easily. I ran out and was surrounded by a thick forest. I ran blindly into the forest trying to get away from the house as quick as I could. I stumbled quite a few times but I got up immediately. I heard shouts behind me and fear gripped my heart. I increased my steps and I thought I had lost them. I kept on running oblivious to direction when I collided with a hard body. My blood ran cold and I went to scream on instinct but a hand immediately appeared over my mouth. I started shaking and fighting the hard grip, all the while thinking of the many possible ways I could die right now when I heard the voice. "Calm down love. Its me." He said and I looked behind me to see the handsome face of the biker, He came for me. Drew came to save me. Drew's POV. "Any news?" Brent asked immediately I stepped into the house. I looked up at him, not replying his question and just went up the stairs to my room. I laid flat on my bed staring blankly at the ceiling when I heard a rapt knock on the door. I remained silent not answering when Brent's head popped through the door. "Hey Drew can we talk?" He asked from outside the door and I nodded sitting up on the bed. He walked in and shut the door behind him before dragging a chair close to the bed. He sat in the chair, staring at me as if trying to decipher my thoughts and emotions through my facial expressions. I knew he wouldn't get anything though. My face was as blank as a clear sheet of writing paper. I didn’t know what to feel. Rachel was still out there, held captive by that monster. It had been over a week and still no clue on his whereabouts. "What do you want to talk about?" I asked Brent quietly and he sighed. "I know this is probably not the time for this but I want to know who has Rachel. Its obvious you know who. I need to know too so I can help in the best way I can." He said. I laughed humorlessly. “What can you do that I haven't done already? How the f**k can you help in any of this?!" I asked, my voice a little louder than normal expressing my frustration. "I don't know how but I'd like to help. I just want to know Drew, let me help find her, let m-" He defended and I sighed cutting him off. "Uncle has her Brent. Uncle has Rachel." I said but it came out as a whisper. He looked up at me but I didn’t meet his eyes. I could feel his hard gaze boring deep holes into my forehead but I still didn’t meet his eyes. "You're kidding… you're kidding right? I mean Uncle was in jail then rehab. You put him there. He can't get out. He's a psychopath." Brent panicked and I wished it was all a joke, but it wasn’t. "You know what… This is all your fault! You caused this, If you had left her the f**k alone this wouldn't have happened. I bet you knew you weren't the best choice for her, everyone f*****g knew that but you went ahead and now you brought this s**t on her. Now she's been taken by uncle and only God knows what the fucker has done to her!" Brent cussed, yelling at me. I knew he was livid because he hardly ever used cuss words but that didn’t mean he wasn’t crossing the line and pissing me off as a result. "Brent I know you're pissed but watch it." I warned and he breathed hard. "You know its the truth. I wish I didn't help you with your stupid plan. You should have never been with her in the first place." He scoffed and his words hit me in the gut. He glared at me one last time and walked my room shutting the door noisily behind him. I picked up the bed side lamp and threw it across the room. It shattered into tiny bits of glass but I still felt the great urge to throw anything and everything. It hurt more knowing all what Brent said was true and I was really bad for Rachel but I didn't choose to like her. I didn't choose to fall in love with the cute innocent fiery redhead waiting tables at my brother's bar. I decided to push myself and work harder than before. I racked my brain thinking of all possible places my uncle could be hiding out. I thought of all the places we used to go on family vacations, the places he took his wife to on their couple vacations, the place he used to go to for his weekend getaways……… weekend getaways. Finally, it came to me like thunder striking a house without a lightning conductor. The house in the woods. He took me there once but I was the only one who he ever took there. It is where he would go when he needed a break from life, It is where he would be now. He would be expecting me to figure it out myself and come for Rachel. It is me he wants not her. I threw my gun and bullet packet in my bag. I picked up the sniper mouth from the drawer, adding it to my bag before locking the drawer. "Boss where are we going?" Wolfe asked me standing up and smoothening out his clothes, ready to follow me to the ends of the earth if that was where I'm going. "I want to make a quick stop at pops. I'll be back soon." I lied and he peered at me suspiciously. "We can come too? I'm also hungry,” He said and I shook my head. "What do you want? I could get it for you." I said and he shrugged and waved me off sitting back at the table picking up his cards. Dawg paid me no mind and picked two more cards from the stack at the side of the table. He was probably still pissed at me for treating him like an inferior. I should apologize to him for trying to boss him around but this was not the time for that. My top priority now was to get Rachel out of that hellhole which was what I was going to do. I grabbed my keys and helmet from the small table beside the door before exiting the house. I revved the engine and zoomed off leaving a cloud of smoke as evidence. I rode on the highway going as fast as my baby could go. The wind whizzed past me furiously, blowing my jacket like an over pumped balloon. I drove for over an hour before I turned off the road and onto a rocky path. I got off my bike and turned it off before taking off my helmet and placing it on one of the handles. I added more bullets to my gun and turned off the safety before putting it in its holder at my back. I took out my pocket knife and hid it in the sole of my boots before covering my bike with a leather cloth and walking deeper into the forest. The area was silent and as still as a graveyard, the only sound coming from the melodious chirping of birds in the trees and the wind blowing the leaves. I tiptoed and strained my ear for the littlest sounds. I walked for over thirty minutes and this time, I was deep into the forest and far from the highway. I knew every inch of this area to know that the house is few minutes away. I kept on walking until the house came into view. I stopped and listened for sounds when I heard the side door open and Rachel came running out barefooted and ragged. My heart beat time faster and I resisted the great urge to call out to her. I began running in the opposite direction from where I was standing and I went to call for her when I heard the door open and he stepped out, the devil who happened to be my uncle. He was holding a knife in his hand and running in the direction Rachel just passed. I observed silently from where I was standing as Rachel picked up speed and run towards my position while my uncle kept going straight. I stood in her way but she ran blindly and as expected, collides into me. She stilled in fear and I wrapped my hands tight around her knowing what was coming next. She started thrashing around kicking me and when I didn’t budge she goes to scream but I placed my hand over her mouth. "Calm down love." I whispered in her ear and she immediately went still. She turned around in my arms to look at my face and shock defined her expression. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. "Hey its okay. I'm here now." I reassured her and she wrapped her arms around me tightly as if I'd disappear into thin air if she loses her grip. I gave her a few moments to calm down. "Hey love. We have to leave now. They're still out there looking for you." I said and she nodded in understanding. I went over my plan with her and she refused to follow it. It may not have been the best of plans but it was what I could come up with at the moment. "Listen love you'll be safe. I'll lure my uncle away from you while you run in the other direction. My bike is near the road, if I don't show up in 10 minutes, ride back to town and tell Brent. He'll know what to do." I ran over the plan once again and she nodded, even though the fear was evident in her voice. I hugged her and planted a brief kiss on her slightly parted lips. The plan was going well and the best I had but stupid me didn't put in the extras. "Well if that isn't love, then I don't know what is, Ay?" An ugly man grinned, showing his yellowed distorted teeth. "Found ya." The other shouted and I heard thunderous steps coming in our direction. Rachel shook with fear and I pushed her behind me trying to protect her in the little way I can. The devil appears in front of us and a deadly smirk spreads his features. "I been waiting for ya boy. Ya kept me waiting for too long." He said.
