Rachel's POV.
"Okay! Lets make this date count, shall we." Drew said in an excited cheesy manner that didn’t suit his biker bad boy aura. He opened the door to the passenger's side and shut it after I got in. He walked round the car and got into the driver's side.
"I didn't know you had a car. Its beautiful." I commented and he grinned in my direction.
"Thank you. She's Carina my third love." He replied and for some reason, I felt the compulsive need to know who his other lovers were.
"Who is the first?" I blurted out.
"My bike." He replied without thinking and my heart dropped. I guessed I wanted to be the first but who was I kidding. It was greedy of me to want love when I wasn’t ready to love in return.
"So lets go!" He enthused and I just stayed mute and turned my attention to the window looking out uninterestedly at the blur of trees. He tuned the radio and stopped on a station playing hard rock with heavy bass.
"So what kind of music do you like?" He asked and I momentarily glanced his way.
"Country music but I listen to R&B once in a while." I replied and he nodded. He turned off the road and parked in a fairly empty lot.
"Breakfast first." He said and I looked up to see the familiar signboard 'pops diner'.
I turned to ask why he brought us there but he was already out and rushing to open the door for me. I got out and we walked over to the entrance. He opened the door for me once again. It felt weird that he was doing all these things but I didn’t comment knowing he was trying to make the date work. The 'ding' sound of the doorbell rang and pops looked up from his place behind the counter and his face lit up with his usual huge smile.
"Hey kids. Sit wherever ya like. I'll be there to take ya order inna minute." He said. Drew led me to an empty booth by the window. I slid in and he gets in beside me instead of opposite me. I quirked an eyebrow at him.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Sitting." He retorted and I rolled my eyes.
"I can see that. Why here?" I further inquired and he shrugged.
"Cause I want to have as much physical contact as I can get with you. We're on a date and after this I have to leave you alone." He said cheekily and I laughed.
"So what ya both getting? Ya know what is on da menu already." Pops said in his thick accent and I ordered toast with scrambled eggs and sausages on the side and tea. Drew ordered a double and it amused me how much men eat. Pops left us to get our order and it was silent for a while before the both of us spoke up at once.
"You go first." He said and I nodded.
"How did you know pops?" I asked.
"He's my uncle. My dad's older brother." He shrugged and my eyes literally popped out in shock.
"Not him again. Just how many more people are you related to in this town." I sighed.
"Not many. We just own the major business in town." He explained and I nodded.
"Your turn." I said and he smiled.
"Okay. So you are gonna play a quick game and you have to choose between A, B or C and the letter you choose determines what we'll do today. " He said. I didn’t need a lot of time to think before blurting our the letter B.
"What’s in letter B?" I asked.
"Hmm lets see.” He opened the paper with letter B and what I saw made me want to end the date right there and then.
"No. I'm so not doing those." I exclaimed and he chuckled.
"Relax. Its not as bad as you think." He smirked and I rolled my eyes.
"Jumping from a moving object high up in the sky with nothing but another object made of cloth that could fail at any time is not bad. And also going to a place that reeks of s*x and booze and sweaty bodies is literally the best." I retorted sarcastically and he laughed—really loud belly laughs.
"What has ya laughing like you inhaled a gas?" Pop asked Drew as he set our food in front of us. Drew replied him and he smiled before leaving us to attend to other customers.
"It would be fun Rachel. I promise you." He tried to reassure me. I nodded, partially agreeing to it.
"Just so you know… If I die, my dad is gonna hunt you down and you know what he'll do." I said with a smirk and he tipped his imaginary hat at me.
"Yes ma'am. Understood." He smiled genuinely and my heart skipped a beat. I quickly looked down at my food and started stuffing my face with egg. He chuckled probably at my display but I didn’t stop.
We left the diner after we were both filled with food. We got into the car driving off to our first destination which was the arcade. I added this to the list because I love an arcade and I blackmailed Drew saying that going there was the only thing that will make me want to go to the other places. We bought a card and paid for chips in the card before playing quite a lot of games. I won most of them of course but he beat me in the shooting game. My body shivered fearfully at the thought of Drew using a gun in real life. We left a few hours later for the sky diving arena. The instructor met us out and explained the whole process to us to which I was freaking the f**k out and trying to maintain a steady breathing pattern for my sanity but Drew was all enthusiastic and happy and nodding at all what the Instructor was saying.
“How many times have you done this?” I asked Drew, since he showed no sign of distress or worry.
“This the fifth time I guess,” he replied me with a shrug and my mouth formed an ‘o’.
We were strapped up and we got notified that I would be joined to a professional sky diver since it was my first time. I let out a sigh of relief. Drew had done this quite a number of times which was why he felt so confident and at ease. The helicopter left the ground and flew for a few minutes before stopping in the air, far away from the take-off site.
"Okay guys. Lets move!" The instructor said and I got strapped with the professional and they also did a double check on out parachutes. Drew opted to go first which was mandatory considering my state of panic.
"Oh lord! I don't wanna die!" Was the last thing I said before closing my eyes and shortly after, it felt like I was flying. I opened my eyes to actually see myself flying but then, I made the mistake of looking at the earth below me. I began to scream and my chest was pounding hard. The professional tries to calm me down but it wasn’t working.
"Hey love calm down!" I heard his voice break through my state of frenzy and I looked up to see him smile reassuringly at me. I smiled back shakily and he grabbed my two hands in his. We did a weird circle movement before separating from each other to spread out our parachutes. The big umbrella like object spread out above us and our descent slowed down. We landed smoothly and the guide unstrapped the both of us and I stumbled, my legs quaking badly.
"Ooh, deep breaths,” Drew said holding me from falling.
"Never again. Never f*****g again,” I yelled and he laughed and swooped me up in one motion carrying me. Blood pooled in my cheeks and they felt hot to touch. I knew they were really red and I hid my face in his warm chest to prevent him from seeing my blush. I bet he already did from the low chuckles rumbling from his chest.
"There you go." He placed me gently in the passenger seat and I smiled in thanks not trusting myself to speak. He went round the car to the other side and got in before driving out onto the highway.
"Do you still want to go to the club. I could take you home if you don't want to." He offered and I was quick to shout a ‘no’. I hated to admit this and it was something I'd probably never say out loud, but I really didn’t want the date to end.
We got to the club at around 7 and we practically walked in with no restrictions. Drew had a gold membership card which he showed the bouncers. He didn't even need that because they already opened the barrier just from seeing him.
"Do you drink?" He asked and I shook my head in denial.
"No. But I'll like to try." I said.
"Not on my wa-" He refused but I cut him off.
"Hey come here.” I motioned to the bartender. “I need two shots and please, put it on this guys tab,” I ordered pointing at Drew. The bartender nodded, placing two shot glasses in front of me. He poured whiskey in them and I nodded in thanks before gulping it’s content. The unfamiliar burn wasn’t something I was used to and it was pretty evident from the pool of tears that converged in my stinging eyes.
"Told ya." Drew smirked and I scoffed. He dragged me away from the bar to the dance floor. I wasn’t so concerned about the sweaty bodies around me as I moved and swirled with Drew leading my movements. I escaped a few more times to get more shots before I got totally wasted. And from that moment I lost control of my consciousness. All I could say was it was the best date ever!
Drew's POV.
I dropped Rachel off at her house and took my leave but not after answering a long list of questions from her dad on why she was with me and why I brought her home drunk. The old man has always had issues with me. I never caused him any trouble but I guess the reason he termed me as bad was because I was the leader of the gang whose members give him trouble and I also related with other bad bikers in other towns. He didn’t know me though. I earned my position through hard work and respect. I never resorted to violence but if I had to for a brother, I wouldn't hesitate.
I got in my car and drove off to my house. The drive was a really short one considering how free the road was at night. It also wasn’t so filled with cars during the day enough to cause a traffic jam. I drove into the ranch and parked in the garage before turning off the car and getting out. I covered the car for next time which could be another few months before going into the house.
I input the code on the alarm system to stop it from going off on my entry before heading up the stairs to my room. I opened my door to find Hayden passed out and snoring away on my bed. I chuckled and went into the bathroom. I took a quick shower and put on boxers before getting into bed beside Hayden. I usually sleep with no clothes but I put on boxers when any of my brothers decided to sleep in my room. I wouldn't want them comparing manhood sizes.
My mind wandered off to Rachel and the club. After getting completely wasted, it was like someone removed the plug of shyness and replaced it with boldness and a large dose of sexiness. She danced like an inborn stripper but hers wasn't irritating. It was sexy as hell. Gave me a b***r a few times that I had to think of Grannys and sagging mammary glands to keep it down. I promised to stay away from her after one date but I had hoped she made the next move to see me. I had to stay away for real. My word and my reputation were two things I would never compromise. Sleeps enveloped me and my exhausted body shut down after a few minutes of trying to fight off the sleep.
"Morning Drew!" Hayden yelled and jumped on me and I grunted from the impact pushing him off.
"Get off me." I swatted him away like an annoying mosquito and he laughed before getting off my bed.
"Its a new day bro. The day looks good so wake the f**k up!" He cussed and I opened one eye at him. He apologized before running out of the room. I dragged the blanket over my head and closed my eyes going back to sleep for a few more hours.
I woke up later in the day and the first thing I noticed was how silent the whole house was. I went into my bathroom to take a shower before going down into the kitchen. I poured myself a cup of coffee after heating the already made one in the maker. I spread peanut butter on two slices of bread and carried my breakfast back up to my room to relax for a few more hours before heading out to the lounge.
••••••••••••••••••••
Morning boss." Wolfe greeted me as I stepped into the lounge headed for my office. He followed me and shut the door after getting in. He locked the door before turning to face me and I knew something was up.
"Spill now." I ordered and he nodded before taking a seat in front of me.
"Python was shot." He started and my blood ran cold.
"Oh s**t! When the f**k did this happen?!" I asked.
"Yesterday night boss. He was on his way home on his bike when he got shot. It was a fast one and the shooter didn't wait to confirm if he was out before fleeing." He relayed and I massaged the crease in my forehead.
"Tell me he's alive." I said hoping he really was.
"Yes boss. The bullet only hit his shoulder. He's in the hospital right now. Bear is with him." Wolfe said and I sighed in relief.
"Any updates. What did the boys find after investigating?" I asked knowing there was no way they wouldn't have started the investigation.
"They found bike tracks going up north. Not our kind of bike tyres though. I think it belongs to the Jaguars of Woodlands. The trail also disappeared in their direction. Seems like they sent an amateur who knows nothing about covering his tracks." Wolfe scoffed and I grinned.
"Well good for us. It seems those fuckers didn't get the message the first time. They should know better than to mess with one of my boys." I cracked my knuckles.
"Get Dawg and two more bikers. We ride out at night." I ordered and he nodded before leaving the office already bringing out his phone. My blood boiled with bubbles emanating from the liquid just thinking about it. The Jaguars of Woodlands were another biker group, north from Shadow creek. The feud between us began when their leader r***d a girl from shadow creek. Dawg was livid and f****d him up really bad. They tried to retaliate but it ended up backfiring and their leader got killed in the process. The elected another leader and I thought they got the message by staying away but it seemed they were still stupid. I mean, they had the guts to send an amateur into my land to shoot one of my bikers. I should go easy on them though as Python didn't die. But my kind of easy isn't easy at all.
I grabbed my phone and keys to my bike before leaving my office. The bikers greeted me and I nodded in response. I got on my bike driving off to the house to get a few things before heading for the bar.
I walked into the bar to find Rachel wiping down the tables. She smiled at me and lifted her hand in a wave but I looked away, breaking eye contact with her. I saw her frown and the surprise and hurt that flashed across her face but I didn’t have time to worry about her bruised ego. I walked up to the bar area.
"Where's Brent?" I asked Pecos and he pointed at his office.
"Hey bro. Whats up?" Brents asked me as I stepped into his office. I ignored his question at first and walked over to his tray of drinks pouring myself two shots before downing them at once.
"Whoa slow down. Whats going on?" He asked again and I stopped drinking going to sit in front of him.
"I'm leaving town,” I started and he nodded.
"Okay. For how long?" He asked.
"Few days, few weeks, a month. I don't know. Depends on when I get my job done." I said.
"Why though? Is something wrong?" He asked.
"Trent was shot,” I sighed and he shouted, cussing up a storm. Trent was his high school friend and the two were still as tight as ever so I had to let him know.
"Oh f**k. Is he okay?" He asked worriedly.
"He's still in the hospital. He'll live,” I said and he nodded and it was silent for a while before he spoke up.
"Who did this? You know who?" He asked and I glared at him.
"Its none of your business, Brent. Just go see Trent and tell him I left to handle business,” I ordered him and he nodded in understanding.
"Be safe bro!" He shouted as I left his office and a deadly smirk spread on my face. I was always safe but I couldn’t guarantee the safety of some fuckers though.
