Rachel's POV.
I didn't plan for the night to end the way it did even though I initiated the whole process. Not like I was regretting what happened between us, I didn’t regret it, I couldn’t regret it. I couldn’t possibly regret what was unarguably the best night of my life borne from our evident love. I already guessed this was going to happen after all my provocative displays from my gown, asking him to help me zip up, pretending I had too much wine to drink to make him think I was intoxicated, Laughing at any thing he said and the random invisible circles I drew on his hand. I wonder if Drew knew I was flirting with him the whole time. I bet he caught on, my skills in this area ranged from zero to a minus. I guess my blatant flirtation was as obvious as a circus parade. I hope he didn't think so little of me or think of me as an inexperienced thing. I bet he's had so many other girls flirt with him who could actually pull it off than my lame demonstration of the act.
All these were thoughts constantly going through my head as I laid in bed wide awake surrounded by darkness and the snore of a sleeping Drew. I sighed at the emotions going through me. I thought it wasn't possible to fall any deeper but I guess what happened few hours ago made me fall a few metres deeper in love with Drew.
'I love you.' I whispered into the air knowing fully well he couldn’t hear me. I decided to block out the pessimistic thoughts prevalent in my subconscious about Drew leaving me now that he has gotten what he wants. I closed my eyes and let go to the comforting clutches of sleep.

"Did you pack all your stuffs?" I asked Drew zipping up my bag and he nodded.
"Yeah I did. Even took a little extra stuff as souvenir." He winked and I rolled my eyes.
"That's stealing Drew. You could be prosecuted for it." I teased and he scoffed at me.
"What are you gonna do… Report me to the sheriff?" He retorted with a smirk.
"Whatever." I sneered in his direction and he chuckled. He grabbed both our bags and left the room. I looked round the room and sighed before following Drew. I checked out of the resort as Drew went to warm up the car. I handed over the key card and our map to the receptionist and she favored me with a little gift pack. I smiled in thanks and exited the resort.
"All set?" Drew glanced in my direction as I got in the passengers side.
"Yeah." I replied and he reversed out of the lot. The drive back to shadow creek was surprisingly faster and we made a quick stop at Drew's house.
"Hey lovebirds! Welcome back." Hayden shouted without looking up from the video game he was playing on the tv with Brent.
"He's going to lose." Drew whispered not so quietly.
"Well I heard that!" Hayden scoffed and true to Drew's words curses were flying across the room seconds later from the ultimate loser. I chuckled as Hayden exerted his anger on the poor pillow on the couch as Brent did a happy dance by hip rolling making a cowboy sound and flinging a rope in the air. Suddenly Hayden channeled his frustration towards Drew.
"You jinxed me!" He glared at Drew who looked at him amusedly.
"How?"
"You said I was gonna lose and I lost. Its your fault. You should have never said that." He whined.
Drew scoffed. "It doesn't matter whether I said it or not. You were gonna lose anyway. Your player was positioned wrong which left him open to an attack. The easiest way to have taken him down was by hitting the leg while you were busy protecting the chest area which was what Brent did." Drew explained and Hayden hummed.
"Uhm... Brent let's go another round." He challenged and Brent scoffed.
"Oh please I beat your ass five times already." He commented and I chuckled. Well looks like someone has been having zero success today.
"Lets play this last round. I'm sure I'll beat you this time. I bet $20." Hayden said and Brent smirked.
"Okay. I'll be more than happy to collect part of your savings."
And that was how they began another round of the game. Drew already left to get something from his room. He returned back and we left his house en route my house.
"Thanks for the weekend. I had a really lovely time." I smiled as Drew parked in front of my house.
"I also had a nice time myself. So thank you." He replied and the car was silent, in a way which went from comfortable to awkward.
Drew cleared his throat before speaking up. "Uhm Rach… I think we should talk about last night." He started.
"Okay…" I dragged out the word. "What about it?” I asked.
"You know. Everything. What happened…" He said vaguely and I decided to help him out.
"Its fine. I don't know about you but it was the best night of my life and I don't regret it one bit. You don't have to feel responsible for what happened. I was very much sober and in full control of my actions." I said and he sighed.
"I know but I feel like I forced you while you were… wait, did you say sober?" His brows scrunched up in confusion and I nodded.
"Yeah. I wasn't drunk. I had a little too much to drink but I was in full control of my actions. I knew what I was doing when I came at you in the middle of the night." I explained and he sighed.
"Oh f**k! I thought you were… I still feel like I took advantage of you. I feel like I should've stopped it from happening. I don't regret what happened. I just feel like it shouldn't have happened and I feel like a d**k for not holding back." He said and each word hit me in the heart like repeated blows at a punching bag—my heart being the punching bag.
"Its alright Drew. I don't blame you for what happened. I'm sorry you feel this way about it but I don't regret it and I wish you didn't either." I gathered my things getting out of the car.
He got out of the car after me. “Rachel I don't regret what happened. I just wish it didn't happen so soon."
I scoffed. “Well, means the same thing to me,” I retorted and climbed the few steps to my house.
"Rachel wait! I…" He started and my legs immediately ceased its movement to hear what he had to say. I waited patiently for those words I'd been waiting to hear so I could finally say them back. My heart beat hard in my chest I thought it might explode.
"I… Never mind." He said and my legs almost crumbled from under me. I wish he didn't attempt to say it at all. I wasn't so eager to hear the words. That's a lie; I wanted to hear him say it so badly but I was willing to wait until he was ready to say it. I guess he was no different from the rest. They leave as soon as they get what they want.
Drew's POV.
"SHUT UP!" I yelled for the last time at the bickering adults currently adding to the ache in my head.
"Chill man. What has got you down in the mouth?" Wolfe asked quizzically.
I straightened out the crease in my forehead and sigh. "Nothing. You guys just need to shut up,” I replied quite rudely but at that point, I really needed peace and quiet.
"Whatever you say boss. Bear lets get out of here,” Dawg said strolling out of the office and Bear followed behind him. Wolfe stared at me with narrowed eyes and I raised a brow before he shrugged, leaving my office.
I sighed and raised a hand to my forehead trying to soothe the pain in my pounding head. I picked up my phone and contemplated calling Rachel. Things didn't end so pretty last night and after thinking about all my responses I felt like the dumbest person on earth. They were totally opposite of what I really wanted to say to her. I'm usually in control of my words but with her its like I can't get my s**t together. It’s so frustrating.
I tried calling her last night but it went to voicemail over and over again which wasn't surprising. I figured I had to give her time to calm down before trying to iron out any problem. I dialed her number and it rang before going to voicemail. I hit re-dial and made up my mind to drive over to her house or the bar or wherever the f**k she was if she doesn't pick up.
"Hello." I heard her calm voice and I felt all brewing anger flow out of me.
"Hey love." I said and the line stayed silent but I could picture her rolling her eyes at that.
"What do you want?”
"Uhm…" I went blank again.
"I'm hanging up." She said.
"Wait!"
"Then you better start talking. I'm working right now."
"I wanted to say… I was sorry. I'm sorry Rachel. I really didn't mean what I said." I pleaded with her and the only sound was a silent buzz of current going through the phone.
"Well doesn't sound all too convincing but I'll take it." She replied and a smile broke out on my face.
"Thanks love. So what are you doing?" I asked the first thing that popped into my happy but blank mind.
"I already said I was working." She retorted and I could picture her rolling her eyes making me chuckle.
"Okay I'll leave you to it. See you later." We said our goodbyes before hanging up. I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes to actually rest a bit when a knock landed on my door.
"Hey Boss!" Bear yelled and I cracked one eye open, looking towards the door area.
"I thought I told y'all fuckers to get lost?"
"We are heading over to the range, you wanna come?" He asked, overriding my question.
"I told y'all to leave me the f**k alone!" I said and he scoffed.
"We don't know what s**t you're in but we can't just leave your mopey ass lying around. Get your s**t we're going." Wolfe said from the door with a finality and shut the door loudly behind him and in this moment, I wondered who was the boss between the both of us. Wolfe and I had been friends since we were kids and his respect for me has never wavered but on days where he had to take up the role of friend—like this day—he ordered me around like you would a kid and I dared not question him. I grabbed my phone and left the office. I joined them out front to find them all in Dawg's car. Thank f**k cause I really didn’t wanna do s**t with my body right now. I only agreed to the outing because shooting is a good way to let off some steam. Kinda like a stress reliever for me.
Dawg drove off in the direction of the range with Wolfe and Bear singing cringe worthy romance music playing on a dead radio station. I felt the need to drag my hair out of its roots and smash their coconut shaped heads together.
"Can you guys just shut up?"
They looked in my direction and grinned before blurting out "Nope" and moving on with their horrible harmonizing. I closed my eyes and tried really hard to block out their noise. I chose to think about Rachel instead. I felt jumpy and uneasy for reasons not known to me. I felt like something bad was going to happen to us real soon, to our relationship or whatever it was and I knew I was not going to like it one bit.
"Wake up man. We here." I heard Dawg's voice in my subconscious and I opened my eyes to see the poster of 'welcome to Bulletz'… Such a weird name for a range but whatever. We all made our way inside and headed straight for the front desk. The lady smiled as she saw us and pointed in the direction of the office.
"Hey Bill." I greeted the stout looking range owner who got up from behind his desk, his pot belly immediately jutting out.
"Hey Drew. Fancy seeing ya around here again. Word got around town you gat a new girl. Heard she a fine one and she works in ya brother's bar. Good one man. Now ya can leave the other lasses for us." He commented with a grin showing the missing canines.
"Word sure travels fast in this town I guess,” I replied shaking his hand as a fake smile spread my lips.
"It sure does. Follow me boys." He said and led the way to the store. He handed us our guns, bullet packs, safety googles, gloves and ear protection.
"Ya boys can use range 7. Its free and it has the farthest targets." He said.
"Thanks Bill." Bear said and we all gathered our stuffs, going out to the range. We all picked different targets and fed our guns with the bullets before shooting away. I felt my stress and uneasiness flow away with each bullet.
"Drew hit 10 targets in a minute.. You in?" Wolfe suddenly spoke up and I grinned. I'm always down for a challenge.
"What’s the cut?" I asked.
"You don't see Rachel for two weeks." He blurted out without thinking.
"Hell no! Not doing that. What's in it for you?" I glared at him and he bursts into laughter making my glare deepen.
"Chill man. I let you name my baby,” He said.
I scoffed "I was gonna name your baby anyway. Another deal."
He looked like he was in deep thought. "Okay I step down from my post for a year,” He said and I sensed the reluctance in his voice.
"Are you crazy?!" Bear yelled and Wolfe burst into laughter.
"Are you really serious?" I asked looking at him closely.
"Hell yeah I am. Except if you wanna back out. I can understand if seeing Rachel is such a big deal for you,” He snickered and I could almost taste the sarcasm dripping from his reply.
"Okay I'm in. Get ready to kiss your pretty ass post goodbye man,” I smirked cracking my knuckles and loading my gun.
"Team Wolfe!" "Team Drew!" Both Bear and Dawg shouted.
"Okay Drew remember its one minute and your times starts… now!" Wolfe said and I started shooting each target. I got to the sixth one when he shouts "twenty seconds more." I kept on shooting and I almost hit the last target when I heard it.
"Look its Rachel!" Dawg said and I looked up to see no one but then Wolfe shouted.
"Time's up man. You missed." He said and my blood ran cold.
"What the f**k man! He cheated. He lied that Rach was here when she wasn't,” I yelled confused.
"The were no rules. The only rule was to hit 10 targets in a minute and you missed. Sorry dude but I get to keep my position as the next in command and you don't get to see Rachel for two weeks."
I glared in Dawg's direction and I contemplated beating the s**t out of him but then I agreed to the stupid game. I could break the rules and still see Rachel and I also knew they didn’t really mean the deal but then f**k the guy pride. Never going back on one's word.
"f**k you guys." I said, throwing all the gun s**t on the ground. I turned around and exited the range ignoring their call backs and pleas.
I borrowed one of the bikes from the range and promised to send one of my boys back with it. I switched the bike for mine at the lounge and then drove home with the shittiest mood ever. Thanks to the guys.
The relationship between Rachel and I was strained last night and I already decided to make it up to her. Now I don't get to see her because of one stupid dare.
"f**k them all."
