The sky is getting darker. The clouds are thicker, the stars are becoming visible. The melancholy wind started to breeze. It's a cue that it's past midnight. It is too late to recognize that we had consumed a lot of time at the park surrounded by the dim red light with a dash of blurry green, sounded by a faint background music of sweet percussion. The indulgence is in the highest degree.
Liam is not bad. He is a good type of person. I discovered a lot from him even small things. His favorite color is blue, he loves to read textbooks and encyclopedias rather than most of the guys spent their time outdoor games and a lot to say.
For me, I shared only limited one. Every word coming out of my mouth is restricted. It is all processed in my mind before I speak. I hide a thousand privy secrecies behind my mask. My sole purpose here is to get back to my world. That is the number one of my rules and he shouldn't have a slight of doubt within my existence here in an alternate universe.
"Oh, it's past midnight," he looked at his wrist to check the time. "I did not notice."
I gave him a weak chuckle and a dazzling smile. "You're right. I had fun." That's right. He is not difficult to get along with. He usually controls our topic, he always started with a question or whatever he may be observed. Random thoughts. He's kinda amiable.
He stood up and straightened his uniform that has been creased in a long hour of idling. He offered me a hand to led me up. I was about to accept his hand when there's a powerful force withdrawn my hands to Liam's waiting hand. I sensed a wrathful presence behind me and I am not wrong.
It's Mark.
Sharply glaring at me with his brooding, dark chocolate hooded eyes. His poise is commanding and decisive. My knees trembled in fear. My breathing hitched for a second. All the blissful moment I had vanished in just a snap. If glaring could kill, I would be fainted on the dread, cold floor.
No words came out from my mouth. I was totally speechless. He held my wrist drastically causing me to wince in pain.
"Man, you're hurting--" Liam pleaded.
"Don't you lay a finger on her." Mark trailed off in an authoritative baritone voice with finality.
Liam was froze. I saw a pang of fear on him.
Mark continuously pulled me like there's no tomorrow until we reached our home. He finally released my wrist when we got inside the house.
"I--"
He pointed me. "Reserve your excuses upstairs."
Once again, he caught me off guard. He suddenly moved and came upstairs. I followed him with my gaze and I thought of moving when I realize his dreadful anger. His superiority made me pushed to follow him.
When I had entered his room, I closed his door in a rageful manner to show that he is not the only one who is mad. I am mad at him too.
"Now, what is your problem?" I introduced.
From behind, he looked at me with disapproval in his face. "You. You are the problem. Didn't I say that you must follow me? I've waited for you."
Oh! He must be talking about the argument lately. He wanted me to follow him but I insisted because I chose to attend my class.
"I had classes at that time. What should be prioritized first?" I reasoned out.
"Me," he pointed to himself. "You must prioritize my concern first."
"Education is more important than you!" I trailed.
He clenched his jaw. His aura darkened. Who would think that he is more handsome with his masculinity and rageful disposition. He narrowed his eyes. "So you are saying that I'm not important to you?"
I trailed off in his question. "Y-Yes."
That caught him off guard. Of course, that's not true. It's a total lie. It's something that I don't mean but to show him my anger and to have some revenge, I had to say it. I had to hide my weakness from him.
He held both of my shoulders and pushed my body to the nearest wall. He imprisoned me with his territorial forearm. He possessively chained me and I submissively commanded him.
He gazed at me with his flaring eyes. I exchanged it with a blazing eyes too but it is too much. His glare is so much for me to take. I diverted my vision beside him. He crouched then lowered his head causing me to feel his manly scent and warm breath on my neck.
"I'm offended from all what you've said.." he whispered.
My entire body shuddered. He has never been failed to make my heart get affected this way.
"I want to.punish.you.right.now" he said with emphasis to each word.
"But damn.. You know I can't hurt you that way.."
And he releases me from his arm. He left his room and that's when I pump some air to breathe drastically. I almost die of suffocation. I almost forgot to breathe. I held my chest as I drop my jaw to fill some oxygen.
I composed myself to leave the room when the door moved and he entered again.
"O-One more thing," I saw his Adam's apple waved sexily as he swallowed. "I don't wanna see that guy lingering on you again. I don't like him." His face reddened. I don't know if it's because of the warm weather or he is shy about what he just said.
I tried not to smirk. I bit my lower lip to restrain myself from giggling. He became more cuter.
He closed the door and he left me again.
Months have passed, we became busy with our projects, performance task and written works. My schedule became hectic. We were loaded with corresponding information and such to the point that I have totally forgotten the fight we had with Mark. That's probably the only advantage of having a workload.
That's the last conversation we had after that night.
"Hello, you're new here?" Then a girl in teenage greeted me as I silently eat my lunch in the canteen. She's familiar. She's my classmate, though, I didn't bother to look up on faces of my classmates but I had glanced at his face once.
"Can I sit here?" Her innocent jolliness is hard to reject so I've done nothing but to let him seated next to mine. She unleashed her lunch and started to eat with gladness. She seems so nice and I didn't feel anything about her but an innocent mind.
That's her litany everyday whenever I go into the canteen alone. I prefered to eat with myself than with other people but she seems so persistent and full of determination to befriend with me. Every lunch break, I waited her and she waited me as well then we eat our lunch together.
She's the closest friend I had aside from Liam. Although, we didn't keep in touch this past few months after that but I'm certain that he might be busy as well.
"Lily, I think we need to go. We're running out of time and Mr. Abuelo told us that he has an important announcement."
She flashed in shocked. I chuckled. She's so adorable and as innocent as kind as lamb.
"Gotta go," she immediately rushed to her lunch with a bunch of food in her mouth. I can't hold a laugh and withdrawn it out.
We walked through the corridor with a noise of boisterous laughter in the four side corners of the hallway.
As we go in, Mr. Abuelo just got in time that we met him around the corridor. We get in the classroom preceded by him. We seated in our designated seats and waited for the announcement.
Everyone's murmur became dreary silent when the entire class noticed Mr. Abuelo's presence. Some unfinished business has been interrupted. Our professor waited for the class to recover and started to turn to his agenda.
He intently looked at us as he spoke. "As you all know that the examination is nearing to be held,"
Everyone immobilized, waiting each every word coming from his mouth as if their life depended on it.
"The directors favored about this risky implementation of this kind of system but it has been agreed by the majority.."
The surroundings filled a deafening silence. Nobody intends to make a noise.
Mr. Abuelo inhaled deeply before he speak. "There's this thing called Gifted Program wherein each student will be given a test to challenge one's intelligence,"
"For the students who will make it to the top 10 highest percentage of combined scores will have the privileged to join in the mentioned program, everybody is given a chance to take an exam and solidify your intellectual ability to us." his lips slightly smirked a bit.
"I'm aware that you are the last section but who knows? It may be one of you could surpass it." he continued.
He narrowed his eyes. "The question is.. could you make it?" With the finality in his voice, he looked at me with glory and nobility that shaken my whole sense to the core.
After he spoke, he left the class hanging with a dumbfounded mind.
