"I'm not a thief. Do not say what you don't know," Drax fumed while the accusation hit him, but the woman scoffed in response.
"You're supposed to be on your knees begging for your life right now! You look like the beggar that came earlier today for alms giving. How dare you break into this house to steal?" She yelled again, waving her hands in the air in an exaggerated manner.
Drax was beyond angry at that point. Of all the terrible things that has happened to him that evening, this was by far the worse.
"Maybe I should just call the police on you. I don't know why the guards are taking so long to pick you up and throw you out of this house!" The woman added.
"You shouldn't speak to me in that manner," Drax replied to her gently, his face twisting into something darker.
"Or what? What will you do? Kill me? Are you also a killer? I should definitely get you locked up!" The woman screamed out loud.
"Why are you harassing my guest? Aren't you supposed to be in the kitchen cooking?" Cara suddenly said out loud while she slowly descended the staircase.
The woman froze as she heard the words. Her eyes darted from Cara to Drax as surprise filled her face.
"He's your guest? But ma'am, look at him. He's obviously a thief," the woman was adamant.
Cara approached her with a frown on her face.
"He's not just my guest, he's also my grandfather's guest. If you don't want to lose your job right now, get back to the kitchen where you belong!" Cara screamed at the woman who jumped back in fear.
Tears built at the corners of her eyes as she shamefully gazed at Drax before she left the scene. Cara sighed as the woman walked away.
"I'm very sorry for that, Drax. I'll ensure she's punished appropriately," Cara said to Drax and he just nodded. She gently touched his shoulder, and his anger faded.
"You must be the gentleman who saved my precious granddaughter from an abuser tonight…" an elderly man said as he approached the pair with a bright smile on his face.
He stretched out his hand and Drax took it in a handshake. He was Mr Blackview. CEO of Blackview Incorporated.
"Thank you for what you did tonight. Ask of anything, young man, and I will give it to you," Mr Blackview said to Drax.
"It's okay sir. I already have my reward," Drax responded honestly, though he knew the pair might not understand him.
"Nonsense. I will give you five million dollars to appreciate your hard work!" Mr Blackview said to Drax who smiled.
In a world where he currently had nothing, five million dollars was a good start.
"I might as well make a name for myself here while I gather my points to go back home," he though.
He was still brainstorming possible ideas to invest on when Mr Blackview's phone rang. The old man excused himself to receive the call. Few moments later, he returned to Drax and Cara with a worried look on his face.
"Grandfather, what's wrong? What happened?" Cara asked him with worry in her voice.
The old man sighed.
"It's this contract deal that I have been trying to seal with Nova-tech Incorporated. I want to buy 51% of NovaTech," he explained. "But there are problems. Regulatory issues, patent disputes, and disagreements over price."
"I don't understand…" Cara said while Drax listened in on the conversation.
"I made an offer of $15 billion dollars for the shares. But Nova-tech wants $20 billion. I don't have that amount to spare. I've already taken loans. Nova-tech is meant to be the next big thing in the tech world. Buying 51% of them will guarantee us unfathomable wealth if they launch their new product in a few minutes. How can I miss out on that?" The old man sighed.
"Justin wants me to sell my mansion and invest. He promises that I'll get double of everything. But I don't know…" he added.
Cara let out a deep sigh as she thought about it. She has never been interested in the company stuff. She found it exhausting so she just pursued a career in modelling instead. But now, her grandfather needed held and she couldn't help him.
"Why don't you consider an earn-out agreement with Nova-tech sir?" Drax suddenly suggested. Both Cara and her grandfather turned to him.
"How do you mean?" The old man asked him.
"You can convince them to take the $15 billion and after the product launch has been successful just as you've said, the remainder can be paid in installments. If they're confident about their product, they'll accept this deal. Otherwise, it's a danger zone for you and you must not invest for you'll lose everything." Drax simply stated.
Being a businessman in his world, he was used to these sort of things. Even worse.
The old man watched him closely as he contemplated the words.
"Hmm…" he muttered and dialed a number. When the CEO of Nova-tech picked up the phone, the old man stated Drax's proposal, but the CEO refused.
"You're not ready for business. How dare you doubt my product?!" The CEO of Nova-tech yelled at the old man and hung up.
"The product will fail," Drax simply stated.
"How are you so sure?" Cara asked him, puzzled.
"A hunch," Drax replied. How could he possibly explain to them that he was a top billionaire in his world? It would sound insane.
" It has launched…" the old man said to them with a defeated tone in his voice. "The margin is good. Maybe I should have sold my mansion…" he said again.
Cara gently placed her hand on him and comforted him, but Drax was not perturbed. He knew something was coming. He just had to wait.
Just then, the old man received a ping in his phone. It was a notification. His eyes widened as he read the text.
"The new product has been hacked by scammers! People are losing their money and properties. They're blacklisting the product as we speak. The product was an epic failure!" The old man exclaimed.
Drax smirked.
"Young man, you just saved my company with your skills. How would you like to become acting CEO of Blackview Incorporated? I want you here with me!" The old man asked Drax.
"Say yes Drax! You did it!" Cara giggled.
"What about Justin Hale sir? He's your current acting CEO," Drax asked the older man who scoffed.
"If I had followed Justin's advise, I'd be homeless now. He's fired! So, what do you say?" He asked Drax again.
Drax slowly nodded his head. If he would he stuck in this world for some time, he had to make it worth his while.
"I accept the position," he replied with all certainty.
