"Wait. Don't chant it yet," Stacy said, turning around to grab a pen and paper.
Mathias smiled mischievously, looking at her back facing him.

As soon as Stacy turned around to face him, his face returned to normal.
Stacy looked at him suspiciously for a moment before nodding for him to continue.
She was ready to write the chant when Mathias suddenly shouted, "Shadow Walk!"
His body became transparent and merged with the dark shadows as mana spread through his body.
Stacy's paper and pen dropped from her hands as she stared in shock, her mouth and eyes wide open.
"What!?" she thought. "He isn't lying?! How could there be such a simple yet complicated spell? And the amount of mana Mathias released - he shouldn't have that much!"
She had thought that Mathias could use the Shadow Walk spell despite having almost no mana, because the stealth spell didn't require much mana and therefore the chant for such a spell should be longer to make the mana spent on it more efficient.
But not only did Mathias turn invisible, he did so with a short chant.
The only possible explanation was that Mathias had a high level of faith in the Shadow God, which allowed him to chant a shorter and more mana-efficient spell.
As mages, having strong faith in the god whose authority governs the spell you are about to cast can help you cast it more efficiently and powerfully, as the god will provide more authority to the faithful caster.
And also that Mathias affinity is Shadow, similar to her that's affinity is wind.
...
A close one, haha. Mathias smiled as he sweated and lied on his bed, a bit exhausted.
Looks like using too much mana really tire the mind and even affect the body a bit.
Looks like I had to add more to my physical stats and improve my mana.
Good thing he added on stamina, so he's just a bit tired.
