Luke's POV
“You're leaving,” I ran into a maid walking out of my room. She must have been the maid I asked a guard to invite.
“Ah, yes, Alpha.” The maid said with a bow. “Have you taken care of her injuries?”
“Yes I have, Alpha.” She said whilst keeping her head down.
“Okay. You may leave.”
She nodded and went off. I simply opened the door to my room, unsure why I even brought her into my room. But it all went down to a memory lane in my head. It was so long ago. But it consisted of a little wolf that I saved. So I decided to save her too. I did not have any intentions other than the warbook that her family had in their grip and untill I got it back, I would not let her leave. Well I didn't want her to suffer too much either.
I walked over to her and saw that she was still in her wolf form. She was cute in this form and you could rarely think that she was a wolf because she was very tiny.
I saw the plaster on her neck where the wound was. She also smelt a whole lot like disinfectant. Probably the maid had used disinfectant for the blood and wounds.
I leaned a bit close on where she was laying and softly placed a hand near her neck. She turned swiftly at my touch but didn't wake up so I just placed my hand over her head, patting it softly.
She inhaled deeply and then exhaled causing my lips to part as I simply just stared at her.
The door opened and my beta walked in causing me to feel uncomfortable. I simply removed my hand from her head and pretended that my focus was on the painting right on the way of a horse and a little boy.
“Alpha, you would not believe this—” My beta immediately halted himself when he saw her fast asleep.
“What news do you have for me, Aiden?” I asked calmly.
“I can just tell you later. Now, you are busy Alpha.”
“I am not!” I snapped in order to prove a point. My mate simply started stirring in her sleep causing me to turn away from her and walk outside the door with Aiden fast on his heels, escorting me out of the room. When we got to my office within my mansion, I settled down on my office chair with him seated in front of me.
“Hmm,” I cleared my throat quickly. “What news did you want to tell me?”
“I did a quick background check on the girl… who is now in your room.” Aiden looked at me with a captivating stare.
“It’s not that big of a deal, Aiden. If I am to get what I want, I couldn't possibly get rid of Alpha Jesse's daughter, can I?”
“You're right Alpha, but I found out something weird about the girl you captured.”
“It doesn't matter what quirks she has. As far as she's Alpha Jesse's daughter, that's all that matters. I want their warbook as soon as possible and it doesn't matter what lengths I would have to pass in order to get it.” I said with clenched fists. Things had been going quite well. But I really underestimated those two from Jesse's bloodline. They've grown so much stronger than I could imagine.
“I know of your desires, my Alpha. That Is why I went through an uneasy method to get you the information you could possibly need when it came to the girl.”
“And did you find it?” I asked with my elbows perfectly resting against the office desk.
“I just told you I did a background check. Although it might not be very accurate.” I stretched my hand forward. “Let's see it.”
Aiden handed me over the folded school. I grabbed it from his hands and unfolded it.
“Audrey Connor, daughter of Alpha Jesse.” I said out loud. And as I stared down the scroll I realized that it was empty.
“Keep going, my lord.” said Aiden.
“It's empty,” I said boredly, then I tossed the scroll onto Aiden and once he looked through it himself he was in so much surprise that he stood up from the chair and clenched his fists in total fury.
“How can it be empty?” Said Aiden stone loudly. “That bastard completely scammed me.”
“Or you misplaced the real scroll.” I said, keeping my calm. I was not worried about anything. I was entirely sure I would get what belonged me, my family. And this girl who happened to be my mate would be the key towards getting what I desired.
“No I did not misplace the scroll, Alpha. As you can see, the name of the woman is on top.”
“Quieten down, Aiden. It does not matter. We'll get the response we want anyway in a few hours.”
“You are not mad, Alpha?”
“Will you rather I take it out on you then, Aiden?”
“No no, Alpha.”
“Then stay away from me until you get news from Alpha Jesse. And make sure you confirm it's the right letter before you come to me.”
“Alright, Alpha. I'll take my leave now.” Aiden said and I waved him off.
The moment Aiden left, I could finally have the room all to myself.
I leaned back on my office chair and crossed one leg over the other.
It had taken me many years to stand back on my feet. I was going to take my revenge and I was going to enjoy every moment of it.
A loud laughter passed through my lips before I went back to work.
A few hours later, I heard frantic knocking on my door.
I stopped what I was doing.
“Who is that?” I asked loudly.
“It's me, Aiden.”
I went back to what I was doing. “Come in.”
The door opened and Aiden stepped in, I looked up from the sheets in my hand and saw that Aiden had but authorised paper in his hands.
“What is it, Aiden?”
“You have a response letter from Alpha Jesse.”
“And what does it say?”
“Alpha Jesse… doesn't care about his second daughter, Audrey Connor.”
I looked at Aiden with anger building up within me.
“He said you should do whatever you want with his second daughter as he is not going to give up the warbook anytime soon.”
“WHAT?!” I exclaimed.
