We stood in silence for a moment, still watching the trees where Kade had disappeared. My heart was still racing, but I forced myself to breathe evenly.
"We need to move," Aiden said finally, his voice low. "Now."
No one argued.
We turned and continued toward the eastern border, moving faster than before. Every sound, every shift in the wind, felt like another rogue watching us from the shadows.
But no one attacked.
Not yet.
Mira walked beside me, her eyes scanning the trees. "That was a warning."
I nodded. "I know."
Kade had let us go, but his words stayed with me. Be careful, Audrey. Not everyone wants to see you make it back.
