~Third Person~
Zacariah flies through the woods, determined to reach his destination as soon as possible. He has no idea if he and his mother have been found out or not, and he doesn’t want to run the risk that it may be too late for Mrs. Moras. She needs to be free of his Alpha, and he is sure of that.
Betraying one’s Alpha isn’t something that is dreamed about. You are brought up with nothing but respect for your ranked members and an understanding that they are a vital part of the pack’s success. To betray a ranked member is to betray the pack itself. Death is the only recourse.
He was told many times that Alpha Moras would be gone for the night, but he’s always been one who will pop up on you at any time. He has said that he liked to keep his pack members on their toes. He also likes to know what’s going on in his pack and have his people understand that there are always eyes watching.
Zacariah, Lawrence, has always been in that pack but hasn’t always felt good about it. Things really changed when Mrs. Moras came to live in the pack. So many things had to change in such a short amount of time. Being able to shift was a luxury, and they always had to be mindful of what they said. No one ever knew where she would show up, and they were told not to let her hear them say things that would cause her confusion.
Though Mrs. Moras isn’t a ranked member, she is a good person. She has always treated the pack members with respect and dignity. She’s the type that will help a pack member out with their task rather than feel superior to them. Learning the kind of person, she was helped him and his mom decide that they had to help her.
No one knows anything about her or her past, and she doesn’t either. She appeared out of nowhere and spent years in hospital lockup. When she finally got out, she had to remember how to complete basic tasks. She didn’t remember anything about herself. Alpha Alexi commanded that we tell her nothing about her arrival. We were to refer to her as his wife, and we were never to reveal what we really were to her. No one dared question Alpha Alexi, though many had their doubts.
They aren’t the only ones who want to see her free, but his mom is in the best position to help her out. Trying to do this behind Alpha Alexi’s back has been a chore, but the opportunity presented itself tonight. With him off pack lands, they are free to move around a bit more, but they must still be careful. Those loyal to the Alpha will not hesitate to act in his stead.
The plan is simple: get Mrs. Moras to the bus station two towns over. Make sure she has money and a fake ID. Spray her down with a scent blocker so he won’t be able to track her. As far as those who helped, they will lose their memories. They were able to find a witch who made a potion that, when ingested, they will forget the last 12 hours.
The plan is to take the potion in the morning because Alpha Alexi isn’t due back until the afternoon. When they are questioned, and they will be, they will be able to honestly deny any involvement or knowledge of Mrs. Moras's whereabouts. It’s a good plan, and it has to work.
Alpha Alexi isn’t a good man, and the Gravemoon Pack is harsh at best. It isn’t a place for someone as bright as Mrs. Moras. She deserves so much more, and her family deserves to have her back.
He stops a little behind the bus station and gets low on the ground so she can dismount. His legs are tired, but he’s determined to get back to his pack tonight. She stands at the edge of the woods, looking around. He nudges her with his snout, and she walks forward. He waits until she’s far enough away before shifting into his human body. He grabs clothes that he stashed there days ago and quickly dresses.
Lawrence rushes forward and goes around the building. He must get her on the soonest bus so she can get as far away as she can before her absence is realized. He walks to the front of the bus depot from the parking lot. She’s off to the side, looking around frantically. “Mrs. Moras?” He waits until he’s closer to her to make sure no one hears him. He didn’t scent any wolves on the premises, but one can never be too careful.
“Lawrence?” He nods and embraces her quickly.
“The bag mom gave you has money and the necessary identification to get you far away from here. Take a bus to wherever you want, just make sure it’s far away. Spray yourself down again in about two hours.” She looks bewildered, but he can’t help that. He’s under a strict Alpha command and can’t say anything that would allude to who and what he really is.
“Is all this necessary? I can’t take your money.” Sh.it! Mom warned him that she would be like this. She’s too kind-hearted for her own good.
“Trust me, it’s very necessary if you want to get away. That money is yours, from your account. Please, you need to hurry.” He looks around, scared that they have been found out. She turns to the list of destinations and shakes her head.
“Where do I go? I have no idea what the right choice is.”
“Look into your heart and trust your gut. It won’t steer you wrong.” He gives her a quick hug and then rushes off with his head down. He staked out this place days ago and saw they have surveillance equipment. He disabled the equipment earlier today, and they aren’t going to get it fixed until tomorrow around noon. She’s on her own, but she should be fine. He can only hope she’s able to get very far away.
