~Cherish~ I think I’ve gone deaf. I swear there’s talking around me, but I can only hear the blood rushing through my body. I close my eyes, hoping I can calm myself and my racing heart. It isn’t just my heart that has me off-center. Aphrodite is raging in my mind. She’s bucking to get free, and I’m struggling to hold her back. I get it; I do. I get that she wants to take control but now isn’t the time. Joy may have done a lot, but I’m not convinced that they want her dead. I take a few deep breaths, making sure to let them out slowly. My heartbeat slows, and I can now hear the room around me. Joy is breathing softly while I’m breathing heavily. I slowly open my eyes and look at Joy. “Please tell me that you’re joking. Tell me that you were just testing the waters, pushing boundaries.
