Malaysia's POV
"I got a pulse!" Brayden yelled.
I was trembling.
"We need to get her to a hospital!" I said,
"Are you insane!" Brayden was shouting at me, "This room is warded! The moment we step over that threshold, we are dead. Her heart stopped beating Malay, so her mates know she died. They would have felt the severing of the bond. We have to stick to the plan."
"But look at her!" I was crying now. I never wanted Jess to be hurt. I loved her. I know it seemed as if I didn't, but I truly did.
"We are sticking to the plan, Malay. I think she reacted to the wolfsbane and the witches' brew is all. Who measured her dosage?" Brayden asked,
"She didn't tell me how much to give her, I just guessed!" Zane yelled.
"Oh, I didn't give you the instructions?" Jason pulled them from his pocket.
"No, you i***t!" Zane punched Jason in the arm.
Now we were all yelling back and forth because we were all scared.
"Okay, everyone just calm down. Brayden is right. Now her mates know for sure she is in trouble, we need all to change, so we do not have her scent. They will come looking for her. In the meantime, we keep her alive. Right? They can search our land. They won't find her. We are good. I thought of everything but her dying. We are good as long as she doesn't die."
"Malay is right. Let's get out of here and change. We will stick to the plan, and we are good." Brayden assured everyone. Jessica looked pale but she was breathing. I hated that I had done this to her. She was in a deep sleep from the sedatives.
We had everything we needed here but one thing and that would be easy to get as long as she stayed alive. We all checked into a hotel room, showered, washed our hair from head to toe, and then we met with Yana, the witch that had been assisting me, "now you remember what must be done?"
"Of course, I know what is at stake," Yana said to me,
"I don't like this," Brayden said, "She could double-cross us, and we would have no leverage."
This was the only hole Brayden saw in my plan. Seeing, everything depended on Yana because she was going to comb our minds and remove the memories, so if the council got involved or Tru, they would get nothing from us because we would not remember the kidnapping ourselves.
"I won't double-cross you." Yana assured us,"I have as much to gain and to lose as you do."
"Besides, I took care of that too, in a way," I confessed, causing everyone to look at me.
"How?" Brayden asked,
"I left something, a clue of sorts. That will be delivered unless I stop it, which I won't know to do if Yana double-crosses us and in that case, we both go down." I explained,
"Malay you didn't," Brayden looked more concerned.
"Look, I'm not stupid, and you're right. There is the possibility that Yana could get greedy. So if that is the case, I left something behind that points the finger at us both. And she may not fear us, but I don't think she wants Jessica's uncle on her neck. According to him, he speaks with the Chosen still." I gave Yana an icy glare.
"Are we doing this or not?" She asked,
"Let's get started," I said.
I was hoping this did not backfire. We basically kidnapped a doctor who would watch over Jessica. She was human and scared shitless.
"If she dies, you die. If she lives, you can return to your life when this is over." We knew we would have to take this slow. At least until we were not under suspicion. We left a lot of responsibility on Yana, but she was the only one that could carry this out because no one had reason to suspect her. It was too late to go back now and so it began.
Tru's POV
3 days after Jessica's disappearance
I looked at the Dragon King and frowned. He had a scowl on his face that surely was deeper than mine. We were once again standing in the lobby of the council. He had put up a reward of 1 million for Jessica's safe return. Now that we felt she was alive, we were both functioning a little better. However, her safe return was at the forefront of both our minds. We had been nearly joined at the hip the last few days chasing down leads together. We were trying to be diplomatic, but we were agreeable regarding Brayden Blood. His days were numbered.
"I know this is a sensitive subject for you," Polonius looked at us both. He was the officer put on Jessica's case by the werewolf sector of the council. He had already stated he was tired of Nasir and my antics. Times had changed, and we were not supposed to be investigating things ourselves, but he knew we would, and he also knew that with the power I possessed and the power of the Dragon King together, it would be easier to work with us.
"That son of a b***h knows something!" I growled.
"I am getting impatient. It has been three days, and you have done nothing. I think it's time Queens Mountain handled this matter," Nasir roared,
"No! King Nasir, violence solves nothing." The man looked toward me for help. Was he serious, I thought?
"Polonius, let me be clear. If my mate is not returned by nightfall, I will be claiming Blood Moon. We have been patient, although we know that pack is involved," I pointed out.
"You have no proof! Alpha and Luna Blood have had their minds combed. They were not involved in this. You want someone to blame, but you're barking up the wrong tree. The damage the both of you have done to that pack already should be enough." I looked over at Nasir and, for the first time, a hint of a smile appeared on his face.
"What are you suggesting?" Carter, Nasir's brother, asked Polonius.
"We have our theory, that we are working just be patient," Polonius pleaded,
"And what is that?" Nasir asked, "This theory,"
"We think Jessica's disappearance may be tied to the murder of Alpha McClain. No money was taken in that case either, and there was just no reason for it. Everyone knows Mrs. Roman is the Queen and no ransom has been demanded. We might have a serial killer on our hands."
"Jessica is not dead," Nasir coldly stated,
"Now but you both felt the severing of the bond which meant she died. This person could be new to this. Maybe he or she is experimenting. We don't know, but we do know that Alpha Blood is not involved."
He sighed heavily, looking at both of us. "We have searched the grounds she is not there. Killing him will solve nothing."
"I disagree. It would make me feel better," Nasir said,.
"I disagree as well. If nothing else, I would feel better and if I find out he is involved, after I let him live I will torture him slowly."
"Burn him slowly," Nasir said,
"Toss water on him,"I said,
"Then burn him again," Nasir concluded.
Reggie cleared his throat, "I hate to interrupt this moment." He looked at Nasir and I and shook his head, "but is the seer's word not proof enough?"
"What Seer, you have yet to give us a name?" Polonius asked.
No one said anything because the person that had given us that bit of information was Vladimir. At the moment, we knew nothing other than the vampire's gut said Alpha Blood was involved.
This was enough for me. In truth, I didn't particularly care nor trust the council, but I trusted Vladimir and, to most, the relationship between wolf and vampire may seem odd, but Vladimir had earned my respect. He was a close confidant to the Chosen and when we were a part of the Mystic Moon pack he was often seen coming and going. He had a very close friendship with the Black's which is how I came to know him. That and the fact that Krishna had always been close to Vladimir's family. He had once been best friends with his son. He had always spoken highly of him.
As if worrying about Jessica was not enough, Krishna had set up a meeting with the Black's to discuss the death of the two Alphas. The entire thing was wearing me thin and the only thing I had to focus on was the fact that Vladimir felt Brayden was involved.
"I want the case files," I said to Polonius.
"It's an open investigation," Polonius began. I lost it. Colt came forward, flipping the table over, "You can't get me answers. I will get them myself!"
"Alpha control your wolf! If you cause any harm to Alpha Blood, we will be forced to intercede," Polonius threatened,
'Calm down Colt,' I said to my wolf, but there was no use. Colt was out for blood and nothing more could be said.
Three days ago, Nasir and I had burned the pack house of Blood Moon, down and in the process, the Alpha had lost an eye and an arm. I was not usually cruel, but I wanted to know where my mate was. It was only after combing his mind did I release him. I could still hear the cries of his mate. Nasir and I had then gone to the council to question Kye Grimes when Vladimir approached us, "Alpha Blood deserved it. He is behind this. I can't prove it, but I feel it. I'm calling Krishna." He said, "Please keep this between us."
Now here we were day three and my mate was still missing.
"Pull it together, Alpha Tru, it's my understanding that you are already in hot water. I don't think you need any more trouble." Polonius said,
"What is he talking about?" Nasir asked me,
"Nothing," I snapped, "I need some air," I walked out letting the door slam behind me. Where the hell are you Blaze...
