Oh, my Goddess, I was all over the place. I was acting like a slut. Pull it together, Jessica. "Oh," I stepped away from him. Embarrassed as hell, I said, "Kye is Malaysia's brother."
He looked at me and nodded, then looked away. What was he thinking? He looked back at me, "look Blaze I don't like complications and" he looked strained when he said, "your plate is full, with your mate and lover."
My eyes narrowed, "how do you know Kye is my lover?"
"You just admitted it," he said nonchalantly,
"Did you comb my mind?" I asked,
"Yes I did,"
"Uh, that is so rude!" I snapped,
"No ruder than kissing a man when you have a boyfriend and a mate," he snapped back. I bit my lip looking away. He had me there.
"Look Blaze, I think you're a nice girl that has had some hard breaks, but your situation is toxic as hell. I have a pack to run. I don't have time to be fighting dragon Kings, pissed off Beta,'s or scorned Alpha's so this is where I must bow out." He stepped back and bowed,
I wanted to punch him, "So you're rejecting me?"
"Let me be clearer, I alpha Tru Dalton of Eclipse Moon Reject you Jessica Martin Roman of... Roman." He said flatly,
I don't belong anywhere. I laughed nonchalantly even though inside I felt like my soul was being snatched from my body. I held my head high even though the pit of my stomach burned. "You need to accept my rejection Jessica,"
"Of course," I said, the break of our bond felt like it was tearing through me. Finally, I could keep my composure no longer. The hell with appearances, I thought this s**t hurt. I stumbled back a little and shifted into my dragon without thought. I took to the sky. I felt like I was dying. I hadn't seen Nasir since the incident. I didn't know how he would react. If he would turn me away. I halfway expected him too. I landed on the balcony outside our bedroom or his and Dyna's now, I suppose. The door pushed open and he saw me. Bent over in pain, crying. He scooped me up carrying me inside. Dyna lay on his bed with a baby in her arms. He looked at her, and she picked the baby up. Passing by us, I noticed her face had claw marks on it. Deep cuts, scarred for life, 'b***h won't try me again,' Nova huffed,
"What happened baby, talk to me." I lay my head on his chest and cried. He rubbed my back tenderly whispering sweet words to me. "I met my wolf mate, Nasir," he did not tense up but instead kissed the top of my head. "This is not the one you were with, no?"
"No. That was Kye. I'm sorry for hurting you." I said to him,
"I hurt you first," he said. I looked at him and saw nothing but forgiveness in his eyes. Where was his anger? "I have had some time to think and the way I see it is this situation is unorthodox. Dragons are meant to have one mate and the fact that I have two, well, it doesn't make since really unless,"
"Unless what?" I asked,
He sighed, "Jess, I can't let Dyna go. I know it hurts you, but I love her as much as I do you. I can't breathe without being connected to either of you. I know that this will never work, and I can't expect you to accept this, so I think I need to adjust and adapt to the current situation."
"Meaning what Nasir," I asked, my heart swelled, "are you letting me go,"
"I'm releasing you. You will always be mine, but I can accept that with that we will have to live separate lives. If you want to live on Earth and pursue this relationship with that man," he cut his eyes at me, "I can accept that, but you have to mark him, Jess, betrayal is painful."
I let out a deep breath. "You can come to me when you want or need me. I will always be here. I only want you happy."
"You could live with that, Nasir?" I asked him, confused.
"I have no choice. It pains me to see you suffer and, although I have given it my best, I failed you first with Marika and then by not being truthful about Dyna,"
"Oh yeah her," I rolled my eyes and he chuckled,
"You almost killed her. I had no idea you were so, powerful."
"You did kill him,"
"Yes, but I also used a little not so gentle persuasion to bring him back,"
"Nasir, you asked Vladimir to turn him,"
"I did, and apparently it's difficult to say no with a dragon king and a demigod on your neck." He stroked my hair,
"But why would you do that for me?"
"I love you and I could see you love him." He looked at me and suddenly I felt guilty.
"You don't love him," he asked,
"I thought I did. Then he touched me and it was like nothing else mattered." We both looked up as the door opened. Dyna peeked in, "I forgot her bottle." She quickly walked in and grabbed it.
"Marika had her baby," I don't know why I asked. I already knew. He signaled for Dyna to bring the baby over. Dyna looked leery, so I stood and walked over to her. I stared at Dyna eye to eye a moment and then, as I suspected, she bowed in submission. "Where is Marika," We had unfinished business. Nasir could get mad all he wanted, but that b***h was mine,
"Dead," Dyna said, looking back up at me.
"How?" I asked. She gave me a steely look.
'Okay, this b***h might just have potential.' Nova said. To my surprise, she reached over, touching her face. Healing her scars, 'Why Nova,' I asked,
'Because of her, we will have the best of both worlds. She is no longer an enemy, she is an asset.'
Tru's POV
"So what happened?" LUNA Blood asked as I walked by. She was sitting on the hood of the transport vehicle. I shot her a look, trying to keep my distain from my voice. What she had done to my mate and her best friend was atrocious.
"Luna Blood, with all due respect, stay the hell out of my affairs." I said firmly, nodded my head and kept it moving. I had very little time and energy for certain types of people, and she was one. Her mouth dropped as soon as I said it. I would be a liar if I said I didn't understand Alpha Bloods' plight. The Luna was beautiful and she and my mate were night and day. Luna Blood looked like she should grace the cover of someone's magazine. She had flawless skin. Her hair hung to her waist, she looked about 5'7 with soft brown eyes and voluptuous breasts. She was a beauty, whereas my mate was closer to 5'9 tall, slender and very small framed, she walked very gracefully. Long legs, a delicate neck, she had high cheek bones, doe-like eyes and pouty lips, her long fingers made me wonder if she ever played piano. I walked into my office and slammed the door so hard the damn thing rattled. I heard the door open and immediately began yelling, "Damnit, don't you know what, a closed door-" looking up, I saw Krishna and sighed heavily. He walked over and had a seat. "It went that bad hmm?"
"I rejected her." I knew it was the right thing to do for me and my pack, but I felt like crap.
"How did she take it?" Krishna asked as he kicked his feet up on my desk.
"My guy, you need new kicks already. What the hell are you doing with them?" I groaned,
"Don't try and change the subject, Tru." He glared at me,
"Look, I get that she is your niece, and you have a soft spot for her, but aye there are way too many poles in the pot for me,"
He shook his head at me, "its hands," he corrected me,
"Whaaat,"
"Hands Tru, too many hands in the pot, that's how the saying goes."
"Well, hell, that too," I said,
"For Christ' sake your as annoying as your great great great-"
"Don't do that again," Krishna was a Demigod granted eternal life by the Chosen. Although he was in great shape, his memory sucked. The last time he spent about forty-five minutes doing the math on his fingers before I finally did it myself.
"Tru, I am simply saying it never works out for the best when you deny your Chosen, I honestly think it pisses off the Moon Goddess that you think you know better than she does." He said to me as he studied his sneakers. Krishna had gotten relaxed over the years and I couldn't blame him. He was over 3000 years old. He didn't care for designer clothes, and I didn't care about things like that either, unless I was hosting or attending an event. I, however, did hate to see raggedy sneakers. It was a pet peeve for me. "Krishna seriously, that girl attracts chaos. And she has no control over her temper or abilities. She is a walking disaster." I pointed out,
"So was Catori, but at least someone was there to guide her somewhat, but this girl had been dealing with circumstances that truly were out of her control. I mean I get why she would lean on the Beta. He has been her only constant person. Is this about the dragon king? Are you afraid?" He was testing me and I knew, but Colt could be a little easier to influence. He came forward glaring at Krishna.
'Don't let him goad you,' I said to Colt. He huffed,
'I will mop the floor with his ass' Colt said,
"Why do you insist on provoking Colt?" I poured myself a drink and gave him a wicked smile, only because I enjoyed pestering him too and Krishna over the years had developed an intolerance for many things. I opened my desk drawer and pulled out my stash of sweets. He preferred chocolates to I decided to indulge.
"You cold-hearted Tru Dalton," Krishna said to me. I laughed as he stood, "not about to sit around and watch you shorten your life span, I thought dogs were allergic to chocolate,"
Colt growled at him, he despised being compared to a dog,
"What are you going to do with Queen Chaos the 2nd?" I asked,
"She's not too bad. Kids just in love." Krishna pointed out, his eyes fell on the picture on the wall. So many times I'd walked in and found him staring at the picture of my ancestors, particularly the white witch with flaming red hair. Instantly I frowned because I thought of Blaze's hair of fire the first day I met her.
"She was with me the longest," Krishna mumbled, then he abruptly turned to go pausing at the door, "She was raised in shame. Always told to keep her true heritage a secret. It wasn't her fault, none of theirs really. The shame, though I thought maybe you could relate. I have traced her family tree back and sent an invitation to her brothers to join the Silver Crescent Moon pack."
"How does Shameera feel about that?"
"Oh she is fine, it's Lance that may have an issue, but when I mentioned it he just shrugged me off. I think the people that would have cared are dead and gone."
"Well, at least they have that," I sounded bitter when I said this, and I was not, likely because I was not alone, I had people around me that cared. However, outside the pack I was raised in and my very own, I did get the occasional side eye. You see my
Ancestors were gifted with abilities beyond most. Over time, they diminished, but it seems for some reason, I was born with these powers. As if we had refueled. This was the cause of a lot of talk because my ancestors came from the Goddess Akoshka, the one who nearly destroyed the Earth and would have had it not been for the Chosen.
"Krishna, it is done," I said to him,
"Very well, just a heads-up. I'm sure you will be seeing her around." He walked away, and I leaned back on the plush cushion of my chair, hoping against my better judgment that I did see her around. Already my heart ached.
