I had underestimated, which was unusual for me, how many layers of documentation were involved in properly transferring authority of a company the size of Carter Group. The shareholder agreements alone required three rounds of legal review. The regulatory filings were complex. The board communications were delicate.
I did most of it myself with my team, which was the way I preferred to work on anything that touched the core of the company.
