I LEAN BACK IN THE chair and scan Ms. Gloria Stossel, M.D., Ph.D., Psy. D., as she prepares to ask the next question on her little prepared test. The humans back home didn't trust us Frankensteins without adult supervision. They decided that they needed to send a shrink in storage to psychoanalyze the Vanguard crew at the midpoint of the trip to Alpha Centauri. They were not sure if we would be properly motivated, and if we could be trusted. I do not know what remedy they thought they could bring to bear at that point, should their suspicions prove correct.
