MARTIN AWOKE TO THE strident sound of the Emergency Broadcast System Alert klaxon on the Flat-screen television in his bedroom. He focused his eyes with difficulty, trying to make sense of why the broadcast was playing. Finally, the alert signal was over, and the information dialog began.
"This is an alert from the Federal Emergency Broadcast system. Due to an electronic withdrawal program malfunction, all Banks and financial institutions will be temporarily closed until this malfunction has been corrected. As of today, March 30, 2018, all contracts, agreements and payment schedules, which require the transfer of funds, are null and void during this emergency. This has been a Federal Emergency Broadcast."
