Hit by… fear

1013 Words

*Lucas* I’m standing behind Alexander, pushing him on the swing, feeling the rhythm of his laughter as he soars higher and higher. The sun is setting, casting a warm glow over the playground, and for a moment, everything feels perfect. “Higher, I want to touch the clouds!” he shouts, his voice filled with pure joy. “Alright, buddy, hold on!” I push him a little harder, watching him fly into the air, his laughter ringing out like music. It’s one of those moments where the world fades away, and it’s just us. This feels good, this is what I never really realised I dreamt of, being a father, having a real family. I look over at Ashley, smiling, hoping she feels it too. But then, suddenly, everything changes… my dream day turns i to my worst nightmare. Shots ring out… sharp and jarring.
