CHAPTER 8: ALPHA JEREMY

ALPHA JEREMY POV Ivan and Callista get out of the car. She grabs her bags, turns around and immediately stops and stares at us mouth agape. Maybe she’s nervous or something. Or maybe she just thinks we’re hot, because obviously, we are. I don’t know which it is but what I do know is that she is the most beautiful woman I have EVER seen. Stunning. . . And that body! Da.mn! I have to bite back a moan just thinking of all the creative things I could do to those curves. My wolf, Cerberus, licks his chops in agreement. Too bad that she’s only seventeen and about to be our step sister. She would be more appropriate for James, well, if she weren’t about to be our step sister, that is. But da.mn! Too da.mn bad, that’s what it is. She finally got her nerve up and walked up to say hello to us after her father called her over. f***k me. My eyes practically roll to the back of my head. We could instantly smell that she was turned on. Her sweet arousal was all I could smell. I knew that she thought we were hot. . . I wonder which one of us got her going. . . ? Nope! It doesn’t matter because she is about to be family and she is seventeen. My younger brother James mind links with my brothers, my cousin, and I. “Do you smell what I smell?” He shoots a small smirk our way. Jesse rolls his eyes. He acts like he is too smart to think with his d***k, but if you’ve met his girlfriend, Olive, then you would know that he sure as he.ll is not with her for her brains. Jackson links back so we all can hear. “ Don’t. Even.” James answers back. “Ok, ok. I won’t. Geez!” Jackson throws a look my way and links again. “You either.” Connor just stays quiet and leaves us to our bickering. He’s more of the strong silent type. I scoff into the mind link. How dare he? “I haven’t even done anything!” “But you will. . . “ Wow! What a stick in the mud! Jackson is always so serious. Won’t even take time to stop and smell the roses. See what I did there? SMELL the roses, get it? Because that is exactly what she smells like, roses and peonies. So sweet. So, so sweet. . . I wonder what she tastes like. . . James answers back with a scream into the mind link. “Dibs!” I have to bite my lip to stop from laughing. Cerberus, however, doesn’t find it a bit funny and lets a low growl rumble in my mind. “I said n. . .” Jackson doesn’t even get a chance to finish his sentence before James cuts off his mind link. Basically the werewolf version of hanging up on someone. He’s going to be in trouble later. . . We look at James and he is already introducing himself to Callista with a huge grin on his face. The one that the ladies love. I would know because we have the same smile and it’s my secret wea.pon. Gets all the ladies’ panties dropping. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. With that one thought, my mood instantaneously sours. Now I’m thinking of Callista dropping her panties for James. It stirs something ugly inside of me that I can’t quite put a name to. Connor leaves after he introduces himself and now it’s just my brothers and I. We have to give a tour of the ground to Callista while my mom “shows” their room to Ivan. Gross. Let’s just get this over with. . . . . . . . . We are almost done giving the tour of the grounds to Callista. James has turned his charm up to eleven. Real subtle, baby bro. I’ve noticed Callista looking around with her brows furrowed and her eyes narrowed. Occasionally, she will bite her lip in thought. Cute. We’ve made it through the entire area and now we are showing Callista where the panic bunker is. If we are ever under attack from another pack or from rogues, we send all of the women ( those who are not warriors), children, and elderly down into the bunker for safety. There is also another bunker inside of the pack house and two more on the other side of the pack. That way our people will be safe no matter where they are. Jackson opens the panic bunker and I hear Callista let out a small gasp. Her eyes go wide and then she slowly spins around and starts walking away. Um. . . Ok? What is she claustrophobic or something? She seemed fine a minute ago. . . I look over at my brothers and they all seem just as confused as I am. So what else do we do but follow her? Right? I see mom and Ivan up ahead by the pool house. It looks like Callista is heading right for her dad. At this point she’s full on speed walking. This chick is weird. She finally reaches her father and grabs his arm. She is gripping him so hard I bet it will leave a mark. She leans in to whisper in his ear. Too bad she doesn’t know that we are werewolves and have enhanced hearing and we can hear everything she is saying. She isn’t moving her mouth like she is afraid we’ll read her lips? “Dad! Don’t say anything! Just ACT. NATURAL.” He turns and looks at her with a puzzled expression. Same, guy, same. “Ok. . .” “Shhhh! Listen, we need to get out of here! We’re in danger!” “What. . .” She cuts him off with another shush. Where is she going with this? Why does she think they are in danger? “Shhhhh! Dad, this is some sort of freaky dooms day cult. Lydia’s sons are the leaders. They probably used their beautiful, sweet mother to lure us here! It’s a trap, how do you think so many people got here!? Just, BE. COOL. Ok? We’re going to walk very slowly to the car. . . “ What the hell?! “Cal, this is not a cult. . .” He whispers back to her. I’m seriously dying, I don’t know how long I can hold in my laughter! She thinks this is a cult? I share yet another confused look with my brothers. “Yes it is. Can’t you see it? There are huge gates. . . Are they keeping people out? Or us in. . . ? There are guys with guns everywhere. They have like a whole farm to live off of. . . Oh! And a fu.cking dooms day bunker, Dad! A bunker! And people are bowing and “yes, sir”-ing. And jumping all over themselves to get things for them. . .” Ok. When you put it that way, it does kind of sound like a cult. “Princess, you have it all wrong. . .” She sl.aps her hands over her mouth and gasps dramatically. Her eyes get impossibly wider. “Oh no! They got you, too! Didn’t they?! Daddy! I’m frightened. . .” At this, I can’t hold it in any longer. I sputter out the laughter that can no longer be contained. I guess Jax was right that she shouldn’t be here. It was a bad idea for them to bring her here. But this? I could never have predicted her thinking that we’re leading a cult! She snaps her head towards me at my sudden onslaught of laughter. Her mouth is hanging wide open like she’s just seen a ghost, which sets me off even harder. I guess I forgot that we weren’t supposed to be able to hear her. Soon my mother, Ivan, and my brothers ( all but Jax) join in unable to help it. The situation is just so absurd. This poor girl thinking she is about to be fed poisoned Koolaid. She is looking around at all of us like we have fully lost it. She and Jax are the only two not laughing, maybe they will actually get along. I’ve tolerated this for the sake of my mother’s happiness, but Callista may prove to be fun to have around after all. . .
