Chapter 13 Wanted

2005 Words
Jalen's POV It's been a few days now since the little boy got back home to his parents. And of course, everyone knows about the demand we received. But the day after the phone call, the parents of the twins began to attack Octavia verbally. We've put them under a "house arrest" of sorts. I hate it, but it's the only way I can best ensure everyone's safety. And now, because Octavia is so scared and guilty, by conscience, I'm having her followed by Preston and Samantha. On another note, Elder Brock is reminding me not to be too careful and keep anything from moving forward at all. Samantha says she can fight fairly well now. She's been testing Octavia and Xandra's strength. And both are getting stronger. Right now they are having lunch upstairs with Amanda and Little Thadeus. The baby seems to make Octavia shine a little despite her throwing up this morning. Locklan walks in and sits down. "We may need to talk. Samantha says Octavia seems very sick. But Samantha says she can't get her to go to a doctor." "Yes, she got sick this morning. But, I'm sure it's just a bug. Give it a day or two, and I'll call the pack doctor if I have to. Also, yall need to go back to her pack home and check out the finished Citadel." "I'll see if she is up to it in a day or two." "Fine." I clicked out of the website I was on, slid back from the desk, and barried my face in my hands. "Dude, you alright?" "No, this thing with Pete and Octavia and everyone else has me on edge. I'm just ready for this to be over." "Ok. I don't know what to tell you. But,..." Samantha busted into the office, "Alpha Jalen, Octavia has passed out cold. She is not responsive." I shot up and ran to her. "She still in the master?" "Yes, sir." I ran up there as fast as I could. Amanda was over her like she was expecting Octavia to jump up any second. I grabbed Octavia and lifted her up in my arms, and took off to the pack infirmary. The doctor immediately directed us to a bed and started asking questions. "I don't know. She just passed out. I wasn't there. She did throw up this morning." "Hmm. Nurse Fallon. Bring me the ultrasound machine, please." "Yes, doctor." He checked her vitals and pupil response. "Her heart rate is a little fast. But she seems ok." "Here you go, doctor." The nurse came in with the machine. The doctor pulled up Octavia's shirt and squirted gel on her stomach. He grabbed the wand and went to work. "Oh, there you go, Alpha. You and the Luna have a pup growing." I had no words. With everything going on, I wasn't expecting that. "Wow." Just then, Octavia stirred. "Hmmm. Huh?" She was squeezing her eyes, but also trying to focus on the light. "Infirmary?" She shot up and looked at her stomach. Then she noticed the computer screen. "What the Goddess name. She said this had happened." I was confused. "Excuse me, she?" "Selene, she's been talking to me in my dreams. And she just told me I was pregnant with a prince." "It's a boy, huh." Octavia nodded her head. "We will take her words by faith then. I can't actually see genitals yet anyway. But, you need to rest. Go home and get in bed." We finished up and left. When we got back, I carried her to the bed. It was only then that we noticed Amanda was missing, but Baby Thadeus was sleeping. Octavia was changing and started to panic. "Jalen, the blade. The blade is gone. It's gone." I walked into the kitchen and noticed a note on the counter. 'Sorry. I stole the blade and intend to trade it for my husband's life. Please understand that Thadeus needs his daddy. As do I. Amanda.' I handed it to Octavia. "What?" She was so confused, and I could see that. I linked the guards and Locklan. And went to my office to notify other packs. But I did NOT tell them about the blade. I simply told them Amanda isn't in the best state of mind, and I needed to be notified as soon as anyone saw her. Octavia's POV What if they kill her? What was she thinking? I have to go get her. But, no one's going to let me out of the pack house, and I'm on the third floor. I got dressed in a simple house dress and walked downstairs to the office. To look innocent, I had a blanket and sat on the couch. "Octavia, you need to go back to bed and rest." "I am resting. On this couch, with the book. and I just linked the kitchen to bring me some herbal tea." He glared at me. I didn't back down. I read the book and listened to everything going on. Locklan came in and reported anything he had heard from the guards. Then he turned to me. "Hey Luna, you up to visit your home town pack tomorrow? "Yeah, shhh..." "No, she won't. You and I can go. Octavia needs to rest." "What she's sick after all?" "She's with our pup." Locklans jaw noticeably dropped open. "You're kidding me." He looked at me and smilled, but I jumped up. "Jalen, I'll be fine. I need to rest, but it's also not good to just be a potato. I can rest in the car and do what I need to do and come home." Axel came out, "No, my beautiful mate." Jalen yanked back control, "Absolutely not. It's dangerous for you to be there. Especially if the Alpha really is connected to Pete." "Jalen, that fact didn't change from my first visit. And I need my mother for this next step in our life. This is something to tell her myself and in person." He growled. "Fine. But, do me a favor and stay the night with your parents so you don't strain yourself or the baby. Then come back first thing in the morning." Locklan looked at Jalen and said, "Of course." I started to run upstairs before I remembered I was pregnant and just walked quickly back up to our room. Samantha obviously had the baby now. So, I packed and prepared myself for the trip. Maybe I could slip away and find Amanda or Pete myself. I remember hearing about the mountains. Maybe I could get to those mountains and decide what to do from there. Suddenly, the door opened, and a guard escorted a disheveled Amanda in the room. Samantha was behind her with the baby. Amanda took him happily but her face fell when she saw me. "Sorry." Samantha came running to me. "Congratulations, Locklan told me about the baby." Amanda looked up and seemed ashamed. I smiled at her. Of course, I understood how she felt. "Thanks." Suddenly, I realized how tired I was. I was just climbing in the bed when Amanda gave me back my blade. She looked down and returned to her room. The next day, we left for High Moon. Locklan came with me. When we got there, we first went to my parents' house to drop off my bag and have lunch. "Tavie Baby, I'm so proud of you. You've become such a strong Luna." "Thank you, mom. Speaking of. I have Luna Queen duties. Let's go, Locklan." We walked around to the pack house to greet the Alpha and let us know our intentions. He said "fine" and asked what we were doing afterward. "I'm going to stay the night with my parents." "Cool, I'm sure they will enjoy that." I shook his hand and headed out to the Citadel. The outside had been painted. A large banner was up and read, "Reopened and renovated!" We both got out, and I walked regally into the citadel followed by Locklan. Old members now recognized me and knew about my status, apparently. They started to smile and bow their heads to me. I started to strike up conversations on how they felt about the new citadel. "It's awesome." "So much more funtional." "Way better." "Actually is more useful than running alone." "I honestly feel stronger." After a while, I decided I'd seen enough. So, I decided to head back to the house. My father was there this time. So, I had them sit down with me before dinner. "Ok. I've got news for you." "What is it?" "I'm pregnant." My father took second to register what I said before having a dazed happy look in his eye. But, my mom was quickly over joyed. "Oh my Goddess, I can't believe it." She jumped up and hugged me. "Oh my. I'm making your favorite dinner tonight." I smiled and said, "Tacos?" "Yes!" And we set out to cook dinner. Locklan stayed in the living room while we had family time. After a few minutes, I got dizzy and told them I was going to sit outside for a second. I went out the back door to sit on our old family swing. While swaying slowly, I rubbed my tummy and started saying boy names. "Arthur, Blaine, Corey, Devon..." I made my way through the ABC's. And was starting again when an unfamiliar voice chimed in at the G. "Garett!" But, before I could see who it was, I was grabbed by four different people. And two people were tying my hands behind my back. One was putting tape over my mouth. The last one was putting something over my wrist. Despite struggling and fighting, they were too much "Sorry, your higness, but this is a charm that will keep you from transforming into your wolf." They carried me to a van while holding a cloth to my nose. I blacked out. In the darkness again... "Ok, well, Octavia, here it goes. I will be with you. And, don't worry. I gave Jalen a vision of the snatching. He's already called and alerted everyone. You can do this. Use your power." "But, I don't know what my power is." "Use the knife too. My judgment will be swift, but your judgment will be undeniable." THUD! OW! My head. "Dude, she fell off the seat. But, she still seems asleep." So, they think. I need to get these bindings off my arms if I'm going to use the knife. But I have to do it quietly. There's only two people in the seats upfront. But, I try to quietly struggle the ropes off my arms. "Hey, we're here. Turn here." Wherever here was had gravel. I could hear the sound as the tires drove through. "Ok, let's get her to Pete." They got out just as I finally slipped out of the bindings. I grabbed my knife. And stood the way Thadeus told me. I heard the handle be pulled, and as the door opened wide enough, I lunged. "s**t! Help, she's loose." But, it was too late. Selenes blade went through his shoulder. It was a spot that shouldn't have killed him so easily. Yet he dropped dead. I jumped out and tried to run away. But someone must have dived at me. Because they grabbed hold of my feet and made me fall. And in a quick movement, I kicked them in the face. I prayed my prosthetic would hold. I stood up, and someone was coming at me. I took both hands, and at the level of their chest, I simply pushed and hit hard. At first, it appeared that I knocked the wind from their lungs. But, their body glowed with a green aura, and an equally green light in the form of a wolf appeared to be ripped from their body. The man screamed. In shock, I stood there for one second too long. Cause I was grabbed and knocked back out again.
