Minutes later after several teleportations, Ushar and Aria materialized on a misty mountain peak and Aria released a tired breath which turned misty on contact with the cold air around.
Ushar could notice slight exhaustion on Aria’s face and he patted her back before speaking, “You tried.”
Aria had indeed done much work, the location of the portal according to the map sent by Linda was on a mountain located along the southernmost part of the Andes range and Aria had brought them here through a series of teleportation from her home which was over ten thousand kilometers away in the Mexico city.
The portal was not on this mountain but on another mountain in the distance, Ushar could see a powerful swirling wind which signified its presence.
Along the mountain sides however, he could see several mechs patrolling around.
“There are humans around the portal.” Ushar spoke and Aria raised a brow, “we will have to sneak in, then.” Aria said but Ushar gave a wry smile in return as he looked towards the sky.
“Uh, what are you looking at?” Aria asked, following his gaze to see fluffy white clouds above.
In Ushar’s keen sight however, a few tiny drones could be seen flying right towards them and he sighed, “We have been spotted but don’t worry, you can rest while I deal with them all.” He said and Aria nodded as a chair materialized below her on which she sat.
It was day but even still, Ushar was quite confident no human or their invention could stop him. He looked back at the mountain to see the mechs all getting into some strange formations.
Suddenly, they took into the air before blasting right towards him with their dark beak shaped turrets aimed straight ahead while blue flames spurted from their tail like engines exhaust, they were in fact shaped just like birds with sharp blades extending from their sides and rounded cannons extended from where their feet should have been.
Ushar couldn’t smell any humans from within them, hence, he concluded they were robots or remotely controlled. However, he still wasn’t worried, that only meant they would be suicidal and easier to destroy.
[New Quest]
[Destroy all Laser Birds without Aria’s help]
Now, Ushar was really fired up, at least, he would get something out of this boring endeavor or was it boring?
Suddenly, Ushar saw the cannons on the closest laser bird turned back like a pair of propellers before blue flames spurted out from it and the bird’s speed tripled in an instant.
[Bone amour activated]
[Strength: 30 (+7)]
The bone had barely covered his body when the laser bird slammed into his chest and Ushar felt terrifying force picked him off the mountain sending him slamming into another one behind.
Aria looked at the scene for a moment before sighing and disappearing into thin air.
Ushar’s body impacted the mountain behind with great power as he felt great pain races through his chest, looking there, he could see a burnt depression on his chest and this did not only affect the external bone amour, rib cage had been cracked and the pain was almost overwhelming. Pain was however something Ushar had been forced to grow with.
[Will of stone activated]
[Perception: 130]
All distractions disappeared from Ushar’s sense in an instant, the laser bird’s motion turned so slow that Ushar wondered if he had somehow gained the power to slow down time. Only now did he understand the effect of great perception, even the colours around him had turned clearer and more distinguishable.
Springing up to his feet, his hand calmly grabbed into an incoming laser bird beak before sending it flying into another laser bird by the side, with such strength and precision that both crashed into the ground before bursting up in flames.
Ushar immediately shot off his place and where he been, three Laser bird simultaneously crashed and another cloud of flame bloomed in there.
Ushar landed some distance away before leaping into an even greater distance and his punch collided, head on into an incoming laser bird. From the laser bird’s beak however, a column of bright white ray shot out, and Ushar could see the bones on his hand melting it collided into the beak and he was sent flying back into the distance.
“Damn, what the hell.” He cursed looking at his hand which was smoking with the whole skin scalded off, he wondered what exactly that white ray was but did not take long to arrive at the answer. Laser, this birds specialty was not their instantaneous acceleration, nor their lethal precision but their unstoppable laser attacks which melt through his bones like they were nothing.
Ushar suddenly ducked back and a laser bird passed just over his head but before it was gone, his hand had grabbed into its propellers before pulling back, Ushar skid back as the laser bird’s momentum overcame his pull for some moments before it eventually came to a forced stopped before he slammed it into the ground and the bird went up in flame.
With calculate and lightning quick reflexes, Ushar made quick work of the laser birds and soon, the battle had come to an end as he stood in place huffing with tattered garment amidst a scene of great destruction.
[Will of stone deactivated, can only be activated after a day]
“Looks like you are done, we should leave quickly.” Ushar heard Aria say just after the system prompt and he could not help pause in place. The girl’s voice did not sound excited in the least, it seemed like all his show of strength had done little to impress Aria and Ushar felt irked, with a low groan, all the bones on his body disappeared as he turned b ack to Aria, nodding.
Every injury on his body had disappeared, except for the burnt arm but even that was almost entirely healed.
“Don’t resist.” Aria said before Ushar vision warped and he appeared in front of the portal.
“You don’t need to repeat that every time, you know.” He could not help say with an amused smile.
“What?” Aria asked with raised brows.
“You don’t need to say don’t resist every single time, I wasn’t going to.” He explained and Aria face stiffened for a moment before breaking into a cheeky smile.
“Indeed, I really say that every time. I will take note.” She said and Ushar nodded before they stepped into the portal.
