“I won’t fool around anymore, Aria. I… I think I like you, I don’t know if you feel that way as well, I don’t know if you feel this overwhelming longing as much as I do but I know you also feel something, or else, there is no reason you would have saved my life so many times. Actually, I am not sure how exactly I measure up against you and I certainly don’t want to fight you but you can’t take out your frustrations on Linda. Some humans may have killed your father but Linda wasn’t one of them so I plead, spare her or… fight me.” Ushar stated, looking at the floating girl who glared at him for a moment before disappearing.
“So that was why,” Linda spoke from behind Ushar, and he looked at her with raised brows. “That was what?” he asked.
“That was why you rejected me, because of the Witch?” Linda asked, looking up at Ushar’s face and he frowned.
Ushar suddenly felt anger flaring up in him, he couldn’t believe Linda was really asking such a question after they just barely skimmed past death.
“No, I didn’t reject you because I love her. It is because I don’t love you”, he replied irritably and Linda eyes moistened.
“Why would you choose another over me? I sacrificed my time for you, my everything! I mean, you only knew her about some weeks ago. What could she have done for you? Nothing, absolutely nothing!” Linda’s outburst was accompanied by raw pain which stunned Ushar as he momentarily grappled for words.
“I am sorry Linda, and I am indeed grateful for all you have done for me, but, there is nothing to argue about in this.” Ushar said, before staring at the burning mountain in the distance and, a murderous glint shining in his dark eyes.
“They destroyed everything, everything we have worked for, Linda, it is destroyed.” Ushar said before turning towards Linda, “leave Linda, all I have been was a burden on you. I can’t even give you the only thing you want so go and continue your life like any other normal person out there, I think I have been soft for long enough.” He said, before turning away but a hand had gripped him from behind and he looked at Linda with a questioning face.
“It doesn’t matter, Ushar. I don’t care if you love me back or anything. I will still stick with you, I mean, I don’t even have anywhere to go.” Linda said with a sigh.
Ushar frown slightly, as he turned back to her. “You do know what I am right, a vampire? You and I are not the same, our paths do not align. The troubles and enemies I will face are too strong for you, you will only get hurt even more if you keep following me, Linda.”
“No Ushar. You are a vampire but you are also human or maybe something in between the two. As for your troubles, I have been sharing them with you for over half a decade now. I am the one behind the creation of the synthetic blood, only me, Ushar and now the government has destroyed everything. Even if I leave you, do you think they will spare me? You have always had a dream Ushar, to make the synthetic blood and free all humans, until I help you achieve that, I am not leaving. This is not only a service to you Ushar but a service to humanity as well.” Linda said. Her face hard as she stared up into Ushar’s dark eyes.
Ushar put his hand on his head for a moment before sighing. “I am sorry Linda, you are right, they will indeed come after you since you are the only one who can produce the synthetic blood. But, I am going to the probably most dangerous place in the human civilization, I am paying a not very friendly visit to the Presidential Villa. Are you really willing to accompany me on this?” He asked.
“Presidential Villa!” Linda exclaimed raising her brows, before closing her eyes and giving a sigh, “I guess it has really come to that – there is no other person we can hold accountable but the very leader of the whole human race. So tell me, how do you plan to achieve this?” Linda asked staring off into a distance.
“Uh, plan? I guess I will just sneak in at night, you know, the usual way.” Ushar said shrugging.
Linda stared at him for a moment before shaking her head with a sigh, “now, I am glad I really decided to stick with you, you could have gotten yourself killed otherwise.” She said chuckling.
“Uh, what do you mean? I am quite hard to kill.” Ushar said with a smirk.
“Indeed, but I saw you went flying off by a single explosion from a self-destructing jet, the president got hundreds of those.” Linda said and Ushar face froze for a moment before he gave a wary chuckle.
“So what is your plan?” He eventually asked.
“First, I think we should pay a visit to your girlfriend. She has quite a peculiar set of skills that might prove useful to us, as well as enough hate for humanity that we could probably get the best version of her for this project, as long as we aren’t stopping he from killing anyone.” Linda spoke and Ushar raised his eyes for a moment.
“You suggest we visit Aria?” He asked with a rather unsure face.
“Yes, is there a problem?” Linda asked back, raising a brow.
“Uh, no, no problem at all, that actually sounds like a great plan. Yeah, definitely great.” Ushar hurriedly replied, watching Linda gave a brief chuckled before asking, “so, how do we get there?”
“Well, my specially customized speed car are not around anymore so I don’t really think there could be any car nearby as fast as my legs. Shall I?” he said putting his hand out towards the girl who gave a shy nod and again, she was in Ushar’s arm in the bride’s style.
“I can’t wait to see the look in her eyes when she gets to see this again.” She said chuckling and Ushar stiffened.
“Why am I feeling used?” He muttered, before looking up the sky. Now, the sun had entirely disappeared behind the clouds and a large grin climbed to his face, kicking off the hill, his feet shot off like an arrow in the dark sky.
