FALLEN

“Boss” Ushar called after some moments of silence. After releasing a couple more puffs, the masked Boss eventually turned towards Ushar. “What the hell was that, Ushar” he asked and Ushar groaned, running his hand through his hair for a moment before sighing, “I don’t know.” He answered. “You’ve fallen in love.” The masked Boss declared and Ushar stiffened. “You know that is impossible right, I am not someone who can handle such emotion as love. And… I haven’t even imagined myself with a human, not to talk of a witch.” He denied shaking his head and walking towards a side. “Apparently, you did. After all, you had the target right there in front of you and decided to let her go, if you weren’t smitten then tell me what the hell happened back there.” The masked Boss calmly spoke, releasing another cloud of smoke which was now exiting through his mouth and nostrils as well. “Damn!” Ushar exclaimed through gritted teeth as he slammed his hand down on a car; and it jerked up while its front frame slightly caved in from the terrifying force. Ushar ignored this as he turned towards the masked Boss, “I am not in love. I am not allowed to fall in love.” He stated before leaning back on the deformed car with a hard face. Calmly, the boss walked over to his side giving him a couple of pats on the shoulder, “you can fall in love Ushar, it is not your fault but you can also choose to remain fallen or stand back up, remember it is a fall.” He spoke before walking over to the front of the car and caressing the deformed surface, “great men have always fallen either to Greed or Love, according to human record – the first man actually fell to both.” The masked man spoke. “That first man must be incredibly lucky then, I don’t even have the right to choose.” Ushar said chuckling and the Boss turned towards him. “Yeah, you don’t so what about this. The target is needed by the government; we are getting a hundred billion for the mission. Once you get the girl over here, you are getting half of that, what do you say?” The Boss asked. “Fifty billion?” Ushar muttered raising a brow. That was quite an unreasonably large sum considering they were only going against a single target but again, if the government had to hire the Seer Mercenaries. It meant their agents had already tried without success to get the target and the girl had really proved her ability by killing one of his teammates so she was indeed worth the price, “I… I will do it.” He spoke looking into the distance with slight frown. “You aren’t even decided–you are fallen boy.” The masked Boss said sighing. Ushar closed his eyes for a moment before opening them and speaking, “I just need to rest my head and get over this. I will deliver her tomorrow.” Ushar stated firmly and the man nodded, patting him on the shoulder again. “I trust you, Ushar. You are my best man after all.” He spoke before walking back to his car and the platform beneath his car rose lifting the car off the underground garage. “Thank you.” Ushar said looking into the distance for some moment before turning back. Hours later… Under a black starry sky of the night, Ushar stood at the precipice of a very high skyscraper, his hair and long dark coat fluttering to the strong winds while his eyes were constricted, piercing through the dark night as he gazed into the clouds. At this height, many people wouldn’t even be able to keep their balance at the center of the skyscraper, not only due to the wind but also the dizzying scene around, the ground was so far away that even the cars moving on it had been reduced to tiny specks. Ushar however stood at the very edge of the building and with a slight frown on his face, “What exactly is she doing awake all night?” he muttered with a frown looking up at the horizon. the eastern sky was now dyed orange heralding the sun’s arrival. It was dawn. “Any news yet?” He suddenly heard the Boss’s voice in ears. “She was up all night” Ushar replied before rapidly scaling down along the skyscraper. “She was up all night, then why didn’t you break in and get her?” The Boss asked. “I don’t want to. She might get hurt if I do that and I don’t want that so I will get her in the gentlest way I can.” He replied. “You should keep up your watch then, she will probably sleep in the morning since she was up all night.” The Boss spoke. “Well, she actually seems to be on move already.” Ushar replied, before suddenly pausing in his movement down the skyscraper. “What is this?” He muttered with bewildered face, he had been standing on the skyscraper all along just because the girl who was his target actually lived somewhere within this gargantuan construct. He had begun to scale down the skyscraper after noticing some movement from her but right now, he could not fully understand what had happened, the target’s presence had vanished.
