Chapter 22:
Ananya's point of view:
Aayush came pretty late that night. I mostly messaged him. I know he promised he wouldn't snap, but I somehow didn't have the guts to call him. Not because I was scared he would yell, because my ego came in between. But he himself called me once Harsha left and chatted with me for a while. I told him that Harsha had visited and he was happy that I was mingling with people in the building. He actually told me that when Harsha and his husband Veer first moved into the building no one was welcoming. They all kind of judged them and treated them badly. Aayush was the one who welcomed them into the building without treating them like an outcast. That's why Harsha and Veer are grateful to Aayush and love Diya whenever she comes here with her grandparents.
Diya had her dinner and was asleep when he came home. I heated his dinner. I made paasta from Harsha's recipe. He had a simple one which gave me confidence to try out something new. Aayush was happy to see me try new things.
"Umm, it's really nice. But my pasta is better though", he teased me. I punched his arm in retaliation. He chuckled and continued eating. He was telling me what all happened today in the office and how their project worked. I actually got great insights from his experience as I'm a fresher and have no experience. I did do an internship after my first year of masters, but actually being an employee in a company is very different from that. After his dinner, he was exhausted and I too spent the day studying some concepts on the internet today, so my mind was also fried. We thought of getting some sleep.
We got into bed and to me the whole kiss from the morning came crashing down. I wanted to kiss him, get a taste of him. When he pulled me closer from behind and cuddled me, I knew I had to act. I have no idea, since I became this desperate. I turned around in his arms, he looked at me with his eyebrows raised. Being this closer gave me tingles all the way. His warmth was amazing along with the AC's cold air blowing our way. I snuggled more into his shoulder, not meeting his eyes. I never knew I was this much of a wuss.
Maybe because you like him, said my inner self.
My lips accidently touched his neck and I heard him inhale sharply. I had a sudden urge to give him a hickey. He backed away a bit and raised my chin to make my lips meet his. I took control within seconds. My body had been starving because of this since morning and I didn't want to waste this opportunity.
We kissed for a while, our tongues got introduced to each other, it was messy and completely hot. My panties were ruined. His hands were roaming around my body without any restrictions and I loved it. We broke the kiss panting, heaving for breath.
"God. I want you so badly" were his words, which made my already pink cheeks turn red.
His forehead against mine.
"Have you ever-" He left his question hanging. I know what he wanted to ask.
I opened my eyes and looked at him.
"No, I have not". I basically told him I was a virgin.
He nodded in understanding.
"Not that I would have a problem if you had. Everyone has a past. I just wanted to know so that we don't rush into this until you are ready" he explained softly, and my smile grew bigger. I'm thankful that he is this understanding about this.
"Thank you" I whispered.
"Hey, you don't have to thank me. You're mine to treasure", he said, pecking my lips, making my heartbeat skyrocket.
I hid my face in his chest and we fell asleep after that.

Next morning when I woke up, Aayush was in the washroom and Diya was on her walker happily walking around the room. He had baby-proofed the whole apartment so it would be safe for her to wander around the room. I actually woke up at her yelling "Ann". Smiling at her, I got down from the bed and picked her up. Peppering his face with kisses, I wished her a good morning. Her giggles filled the room.
"Good" she said with a soft 'd' pronunciation. I was surprised when she said the whole word.
"You're such a smart girl baby, good job" I appreciated her and she giggled and started chanting 'good'. Chuckling at her enthusiasm, I placed her back on her walk and was about to leave the room when Aayush's phone started pinging like crazy. I frowned, looking at the phone. I didn't want to snoop around on his phone, so I asked him.
"Aayush, you're phone pinging continuously. Do you want me to check and tell you?" I asked him, banging on the washroom door.
There was a few seconds' silence.
"It might be company. Could you please check it?" He yelled from inside.
"Okay" I said before walking towards his phone. I picked it up to see so many messages from some unknown number.
'You can't keep me away from her'
'I'm her mother'
'She's my daughter Aayush!'
These were the last few messages and instantly I knew who they were. It's from Diya's mother. I thought she wanted nothing to do with Aayush or Diya, at least that's what Aayush told me. Should I tell him now or let him come out of the washroom?
Why is she contacting him now? Or have they been in contact ever since they got divorced?
Shaking away all the negative thoughts, I sat on the bed holding his phone in my hands.
"Ananya", he yelled from the washroom.
"It's your ex-wife" was all I said. Within a few moments, he came out with a towel around his waist and a guilty look on his face.
