Chapter 12: Combat System 1

My grandfathers’ appearance seems to delay my flight to the Mountains of Bubama, a strange name, and place, never heard of, but the combat system directed my flight to the location were before I got there my rivals were already on the site hanging on mountains, but I went straight to the ground and begin firing arrows at them. What were they waiting to engage each other knowing that in the field friendship doesn’t exist? I didn’t have to wait long to have the answer as I saw gigantic serpents, some measuring in length about twenty feet long rumbling towards my direction, could this sight have scared my fellow combatants? I flew and hung in one of the mountains while the serpents flooded the ground.

How do the Mountains of Bubama look like? The scenery itself is scary with plentiful high and low rise mountains and mounds scattered in an expanse of land approximately one thousand hectares in length and width and largely inhabited by serpents and other dangerous reptiles. As I contemplated the scenery I saw the color codes of my rivals flashed and soon mine also flashed and instantly we engaged each other in fierce combat. The three of us, fought from mountain to mountain, flying in the air, in a sword fight and when we drift far from each other we use bows and arrows. It seems we all have the magic to conjure up arrows because I saw each combatant’s arrow holds filled with them.

The serpent colony has noticed the invaders of their territory and so in what is to be better imagined than real, I saw the serpents in a formation numbering about a thousand in my estimation as I thought it out, and leading them was one that is the king, with a kingly crown and in the middle, well guarded was the queen, with her queenly crown and in her belly is the jewel to be retrieved by us the combatants now fighting ourselves while the target of our mission prepares for battle. I decided to test my rivals individually in the combat so I targeted Prince Radia, and isolated Bosakia. We engaged in a sword fight, my Green flashed which is for attack and his Dark red flashed, and immediately my body system told me that is his attack. So he surged forward, and he is wonderful with his sword and together we dance the sword fight dance, fenced, paced and engaged fiercely and after the battle that saw none of us having the upper hand my Red flashed which is to destabilize him and get him confused and out of sight and in that case, the only saving grace is to use the counterattack flash which he flashed, the Purple color and again I noted. But I was out of his sight seeking Prince Bosakia, who seeing us engage ourselves was out to get the prize.

But when I found him my Green flashed and I attacked him furiously, instantly his yellow responded and our sword fight was even fiercer for he was desperate, appeared angry and rugged all in his attempt to overcome. All that never moved me, I followed him up with precise timing to counter his strikes, strike back and have him driven into a large pit and then flashed my Red to destabilized but his Blue for counterattack also flashed, and that saved him from the serpent infested bit. I made myself invisible while I watched the line of serpents as they now formed a circle around the queen, she was in the center of large and fiery serpents that seemed to have known the mission of humans among them. My rivals also went invisible and we saw ourselves planning the attack on the serpents to get our prize out as fast as we can.

I have copied the attack and counterattack color codes of my rivals. Prince Radia’s Dark red for attack and Purple for a counterattack; Prince Bosakia’s Yellow for attack and Blue for the counterattack. It there means from now on I can preempt their attack and counterattack codes and consequently move against them to my advantage. None has used their destabilized code so I will provoke them long enough in battle to get that copied as well and once that is done I am having the upper hand in subsequent combats. It is my fitted system giving me the advantage.

Even as we plot the fall of the queen serpent for the prize jewel we fought with arrow slings at each other because the earlier one of us dies the easier the combat becomes, for two is already a crowd let alone three. Among my rivals Bosakia is the king of the bow and arrow slings for every time his arrows come, one needs special skills to avoid them. The wind especially guides his arrows with precision like a radar system to its target and I have to track them with my system to deflect them. He was equally good with the sword, fierce and aggressive but likes the finesse of disciplined swordsmanship. Unlike Bosakia, Prince Radia is a skillful swordsman, discipline, tough on the sword, relentless in his strike at the enemy, and with a confident deceptive smile. His arrow slinging is average but never to be underestimated. Having gauged my rivals’ strengths, I was to look out for their weaknesses; there will be my killing point.

 Now that the serpents know our mission and have arrayed themselves in the defense of the queen serpent, I thought out the best possible option to get the jewel from her belly. It will be impossible to break through the ranks of those serpents; they certainly have mysterious qualities because even as we all disappeared they stare us right in the eyes as if we were physically present. So I transformed into a giant eagle and I flashed my Red to put my rivals in a destabilization code while I carry out my maneuver. I caused a thunderous sound to be made and all the serpents responded to the direction of the sound and since I saw the confusion it causes, I made for more and in that distracted state of the serpents I flew in on them in my eagle form and with my large hook talons hooked the queen serpent and flew off with her and immediately I saw the unimaginable as all the serpents sprout wings and began to fly after me.

While in the air the queen serpent also sprouts wings but my talons were too deep in her body and held her like a vice catch and as she struggles in her large size and marvelous strength the vice-like grip held tight and seeing the horde of serpents after me, led by the king, and besides them were my rivals who had by now recovered from my destabilization, with their arrows making their way to me, I made my way to the Seventh Heaven and went straight to the wicked side and all the serpents too made their way there but before my rivals could show up I have departed the wicked side of the Seventh Heaven to the kind side, while the horde of serpents and my rivals search there for me I was in the other side tearing up the queen serpent with my sword to retrieve the buried jewel in her belly.

Before the leaders of the kind side will gather I was almost through but on getting to her belly there were many little jewels just as my grandfather said, and it will take a good time to sort this out so I relied on my body system to sort that out. And I focused my eye on the many jewels until the one with inscribed circle sign with a dotted star came to view and as I reached out my hand to pick it my rivals burst from the wicked side and to have delayed picking it up could have been disastrous as I will be struck from behind easily but the moment I touched the jewel all combat codes system were neutralized and readying combatants for the next combat zone. I have found the jewel and won the round. Reading on our bodies was “code System two, transport immediately, code system two, transport immediately”

The people of the kind side gathered around and tremble at the size of the serpent I have brought to their kingdom and on the other side, the serpents were battling my rivals after not finding me there until the wicked people came out with a foul odor gas that drove the serpents away and my rivals running to the other side to discover me a champion on the first combat challenge. The leader of the kind side whom I recognized at once and whom under no account will recognize me approached my rivals and I and asked,

‘Who are you, strangers?

How were you admitted to our kingdom?

‘What is your mission?

‘Where do you come from?’

I laughed to myself because I remember that this is the pattern of their questioning but as I wanted to give him answers to his inquiry, Bosakia shot in,

‘How can one answer you all at once, old man?’ As we stood talking, his people began to gather around us and I sensed the tension and I said,

‘Alright, we ran here for safety, and we shall leave here in peace as we came. Thank you.’

‘Who are you and how did you come here?’ the leader insisted.

‘You are interested in knowing who we are, man?’ Radia asked.

‘We are people from the earth, three princes from the kingdom of Sun Water and Wind’, Bosakia said.

‘We are in a combat challenge and the universe is our battlefield’, he added.

The leader moved backed and whispered to another elder and then said,

‘Certainly, one of your princes was once here, but he chooses to go to the wicked side and he was destroyed.’

‘Why was he destroyed?’  I asked.

‘Because he made the wrong choice; when you make the wrong choices in life you will sooner be destroyed as well.’

‘But what if his destruction was his benefit?’ I pressed him.

‘Then, he shall be the king of the universe’, he said.

‘You have well spoken, leader. We shall take our leave. Thank you once again.’

‘What about this? He pointed to the dead serpent.

‘Destroy it, it made the wrong choice’, I said.

And Radia turned to me and said, ‘Jokhara, you have proved us all wrong, you, your father and your people.’

‘But I knew he was the slime in the combat all along’, Bosakia added quickly.

‘You knew all along, and you fell for it due to your ego, Prince Bosakia.’

‘My ego acted wisely. You can’t steal the crown by deceit, you slime’, he said.

‘Nor will you steal it by untainted arrogance and cheer force’, I returned. We were squaring up with our swords unsheathed.

‘See, that which you seek’, I dangle the jewel that is yet to leave my hand as we are told before his face to taunt him, ‘I got it. Your life shall go for it’, I said to him.’

He came close with his sword drawn and soon we were in a sword fight watched with curiosity by the people of the kind side for what they have never seen in all their lives. He is short and faster in fencing, his strikes and counterstrikes even faster but he has only just met his match as I met every one of his strikes with a deadly counterstrike and further strikeouts and as the fight gets tougher and at that moment when I was going for blood our combat code systems made a buzzing sound at once indicating time up for the next challenge and we were pulled towards our second combat zone in far, far away Eastern regions of the inhabited lands of the earth where exist cannibals and there, in the underground of an ancient Temple once occupied by a terrible king has hidden the second jewel of the crown of the universe. Combatants must destroy dangerous traps on the road to get it. And before I knew it the piece of jewelry has gone from my hand to where it belongs. The next is combat is up.
