Chapter 9

Chapter 9 I did not have to take any belonging to the Magic Academy of the Flyers I was told, everything will be provided for students. Come to even think of all that magic is, and after my grandfather informed me that my new body as fitted by the Iglobins for my reincarnation is magic in itself, I realized the truth. If magic is the paranormal, the supernatural, the mysterious, or miraculous, then, I can see the reason I am to spy on my opponents’ strengths than not seek again to study magic since I am magically fitted to exist. By my mere thought, I conjure impossibilities to happen; I appear or disappear at will and cause others to do the same by thought. With the nature of my body, I take control of the forces of nature and also to seek the truth and keep away any danger to my person. I went to the academy with this knowledge and when I arrived all the students seem to arrive at the same time and immediately I recognize Princes Radia and Bosakia without introduction and I doubt if they too do recognize me. They, all along mocked and sneered at one they have not known, only have heard of, and that was my early advantage over them. I will do the introduction myself, but first, the lovely environment of the academy is impressive. The academy is built in a wide expanse of land, all buildings appear in the storied form, some four, others six, and some appear to be skyscrapers, I mean, their heights seem to reach to the skies from afar, but on a close view, it is a mirage. By the west side of the academy is a river gently flowing and to the north is a thick forest, while to the east is a range of mountains while the south houses the dormitories for students. The administrative and lecture halls are situated centrally with green grasses as a form of carpet that covers the entire ground. I was allocated a dormitory closest to the lecture hall which is shared by all one hundred and twenty students which include three Princes from the kingdoms of Sun, Wind, and Water, this was the announcement made by the head of the Academy, a man who introduced himself as Jon Dyer, a short, balding fat man, but with a pleasant face and a smile that never fades. The first impression of magic we had as students were the appearance of Jon Dyer, he came walking on the air, his feet were not touching the ground, and soon, an assistant came and put a single blank white sheet of paper in his hand and that paper instantly was shared to all our hands because we students found ourselves holding the same sheet in our hands. I smile to myself, I know that by my thought this could happen, but I was warned to avoid pride and learn all that I could learn while I focus to know my enemy better. ‘You cannot destroy the enemy you don’t know’, my grandfather said. ‘Welcome, students to the Magic academy of the Flyers. It is a world of possibilities where nothing is out of your reach. The academy shall mold you into someone who can command nature to serve you for good or bad. When you leave here you shall be your own master and a master will always have people serving him, so prepare to take dominion and to conquer’. Did he know our mission after leaving here? For it is precisely to dominate and conquer. I stole a glance at the two princes who had yet to recognize me and I suppressed a smile. ‘In your hands’, he continues, ‘is a sheet of paper, on it is written’, as he made mention of written a black ink began writing on the white sheet in our hands, ‘your course work for the duration of your stay here.’ All the students’ attention was riveted to the sheet of paper as the black ink writing listed four courses for our study, that is, the four magic domains; the magic for appearance and disappearance, the magic for the control of the forces of nature, the magic carpet and the mystic magic. Soon, a tall, lanky, handsome man, was introduced to us as the head of the Academy, followed by a coterie of staff numbering about ten, all looking weird, their appearances transports the normal person to the paranormal existence and is freaky to the ordinary eye, however, knowing that this is a different world makes all the difference. We were dismissed to our dormitories and told to report for lectures from tomorrow at ten am. Perhaps, so it seemed, my appearance did conjure up a different image of me for the two princes the moment I made the introduction. The expression on their faces was one of astonishment and wonder. Did they expect to see a petite, little man for a prince Jokhara? Because like my grandfather, and probably like the biological son of king Agorim, I am in height six feet four, quite an imposing height. My height is matched by a well-developed body, biceps, muscles et al, that makes one look intimidating. My black hair falls to the middle of my back, eyes crystal clear blue, a long nose, thin lips and a long square up chin and I have attracted no small stares anywhere I appear physically. So when I approach the two princes who appear to be good friends, I did not miss the shock on their faces. ‘Hi’, I said, and both spin round to face me,’ I am Prince Jokhara, from the kingdom of Water, your rival, I guess’.After the initial shock that lasted in seconds to find a different Jokhara of their imagination, Prince Radia adjusted quickly and responded, “Hi, Prince Radia of the kingdom of the Sun’, ‘Hi, Prince Bosakia of the kingdom of Wind, nice to meet you at last Prince Jokhara’, he added. Both trailed my height and stature. Prince Radia realistically measures up to six feet one inch, looks strong and charming, beautiful to say the least. His tan skin was gold, his hair rich brown, and dark blue eyes shining, his nose a moderate size long, almost full lips and long chin. He should be in command of beauty not preparing for war. His counterpart, Prince Bosakia wasn’t all that glorious in looks. He is about five feet nine, an average height, average build, thick short curly black hairs, a round face, and brown little eyes that seem to pick up every movement. Such are dangerous fighters, but Radia’s innocuous looks most not serve to deceive one, for he is the most dangerous among the two. I have been warned not to underrate anyone, so to me, the two are dangerous enemies. The combat we face does not have friends, on the field these good friends will be at each other’s throat for the crown and I can only imagine how they will fare as friends in a battle of life and death. ‘How prepared are you friend’, Radia asked me. ‘As prepared as you are, Radia’, I said. ‘Every man to his preparation, how can you be as he is?’ said Bosakia. ‘Preparation is everything you do to be ready, and whatever you do, for that which concerns us, then perhaps, I should think towards that as well’, I said. ‘I see’, Bosakia said. Immediately, I see that Radia is the type that says less, another sign of the strong, rather he was watching me keenly, it is certain that the Jokhara he has heard of, who is lazy, afraid of fights, protected by his father, could all be fake, but he was admirably composed. ‘Welcome to the challenge then, Prince Jokhara’, Radia said. ‘My pleasure Prince Radia’, I responded. But curiosity still lingers in the mind of Bosakia, as we walked towards our shared dorm and he asked, ‘How did you know us, for we have not met before?’ ‘ Prince Bosakia, in the challenges we face in life going forward, coming to know somebody for the first time should be the least of challenges, right, Prince Bosakia?’ ‘I guess so, knowing one is the least of them’, said Radia, who I have said is wondering if all he has heard of me is worth it any salt. ‘Glad that we have come to know ourselves before we face each other, and that can only happen here.’ ‘Sure, sure’, Bosakia concurred. ‘In the combat, we know no friend’, I said to rouse him to the reality of the danger of friendship in combat such as ours as we near our destination. We dispersed to our different rooms and thereafter never saw till the next day at the lecture hall. Meeting me has let out of the bag the proverbial cat with nine lives to roam in their dreams and imaginations.
