CHAPTER THREE

MY PSYCHO BOSS Andorra’s POV Ruby didn’t only eat the kids’ food, she made sure they had the food plastered everywhere, on the couch, the kids' mat, the wall and even the door handle, as I held onto it in disgust. Looking at the messed up place in awe, the only thing playing in my head was, forget everything and go home, but I was here already. “Welcome Anni” they said in unison as they ran towards me, with their tongues hanging out and their milky mouths coming straight for my dress. Oh no, I joined in the messiness, as I felt their dirty mouths become clean on my well laundered dress. Hello Sunshine and Moon, how are you guys today? I asked, as I watched them move in excitement, which only occurs when Ruby is there. With me, they’re always sleepy. “We just ate dinner Anni, Ruby fed us” Sunshine said in excitement. “Yes honey, I can see that” I replied turning over to Ruby, she pouted her mouth in a very funny way as she said “welcome Anni” trying to imitate the kids. “You’re as good as dead when psycho finds out you’re here again today.” I said, knowing that will provoke her “to save you! Sorry ass babe, you’re welcome” she said curtly. Secretly happy she was here despite the rumors, I replied “Thank You my gracious Luna”, bowing my head towards her. “Yeah Anni, someday I will be treated graciously, Zula is going to adore me” she said. “Mm…. Hmmm, but you said it yourself. The twins have just found their mate.” I replied “she can’t be, they haven’t even met their wolves and their mate. I only said. Alpha and Luna presume that Arrogant Amira is their mate.” She said “Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed for their eighteenth birthday. I heard it’s in a few weeks. “I replied “remember we are Omega’s, only VIPs are invited” I added. “That’s never a problem, we’ll smuggle in, like the pirates smuggle out gold” she said, smiling, so brightly I began to wish Zula will choose her to be his mate, but it’s only a dream. “You know, Zula isn’t so different from Amira” I said “Yes babe, I know he’s prideful, but I am drawn to him” she said. While we discussed, one question was planted in my head, “how can you tell which is Zika and which is Zula.” I asked honestly because they were so identical, that differentiating them came off as a headache. “That’s right honey, but I smell Zula, and my instincts tell me.” she said. “Now let’s talk about you.” She continued, pulling her hair. Almost feeling moody at the thought of it, I knew what she was driving at. “I do not want to think about it or worse, even talk about it,” “You’re saying that to your future Luna? She said, raising her brows up in a questioning gesture. I smiled a little, resisting the urge to laugh at her funny actions. “I really cannot explain what happened when Zula brought the letter to me” I said. “What letter? She asked, looking a little bit confused about what I was telling her, so I decided to tell her the whole story. After explaining the much I know to Ruby, she all but looked distant, like she was in deep thoughts. “Ruby! Ruby!” I called out, slightly regretting why I didn’t hide making out with Zula’s, her fantasy. Ruby will hate me for this. Slowly regaining her attention, she said “Did you happen to peep in the letter and see what it’s all about?” she asked honestly, looking concerned. “No, I didn’t. I said totally disappointed it was only the letter she’d be interested in asking about. “I just handed it over to. my…OMG! I forgot to give it to my dad, and we’ve been talking for the past twenty minutes. I haven’t done what I’m here for” “I hope you haven’t misplaced it?” She asked. Prompted to check, I zipped open my bag and searched carefully, gently making sure the loosened thread of the bag would not get one of my books torn. I still didn’t find it. As I slipped my hands into my sweatshirt pocket, while searching my brain for answers, I felt something like paper, I pulled it out of my pocket, and I found the letter. Breathing a sigh of relief, I sank into the couch beside Ruby. Quietly organizing how I would present this letter at this point to my father, my gaze moved towards the kids who bathed themselves in their mom’s make-up. “What the hell! Ruby, let’s get to work before she arrives” Just as I said it, the unmistakable click of Mrs. Nibs heels on the floor took all the color from my face. Panic set in as we sprang to our feet, our movement frantic and disjointed. I ran towards the kids, yanking them both at once as I ran to the bathroom to wash off the makeup and the dirt from their bodies. Ruby lunged for the misaligned curtains, yanking them back into place with a speed that left them slightly crooked but more presentable, after which she hid behind the curtains to avoid being seen by the psycho boss. The footsteps grew louder, more deliberate, each one a reminder of the strict expectation I had failed to meet. Damping their bodies with the towel, I got them dressed in a nightwear. Brazing myself. I walked to the sitting room, behold Mrs. Nibs in the doorway, so close to the curtain Ruby hid. Her piercing eyes took in the scene -the make-up scattered all over the place, the unpolished surfaces and my flushed face. “Good Afternoon Mrs. Nibs” I managed to speak, my voice trembling slightly. Mrs. Nibs' expression remained impassive, but her eyes spoke volumes. “This room is not up to standard,” she said, her tone measured and cold. “I expect better.” I nodded slightly, trying to show boldness. Getting myself together, I replied, my voice firm, as I tried to defend, “feeding the kids was rigorous, most of the time was spent on feeding”. The curtain in which Ruby hid ripped open, shooting a stare of disapproval at me in a very hilarious way. I bit my inner cheek with my teeth so hard not to burst out laughing. Mrs. Nibs, who seemed very disappointed, backed the curtain in which Ruby stood quiet. The moment she saw my eyes fixed on the curtain, she lingered a little bit longer, turning towards it, she scrutinized every inch of the curtain through her heavy concave glasses. “I’d have been madder if I had seen that friend of yours” she said as she slowly walked into her room. I hope the kids are fast asleep, so by the time she finds out, I may have left. I thought to myself. Peeping several times to be sure she hadn’t come out, I quickly opened the door, so Ruby could leave. As she left, I pecked her on her cheek, appreciating her for saving the day. I lingered alone in the sitting room, pacing the corners, as I pushed aside the thought of how angry my dad would be if he found out there was a letter for him and I didn’t deliver it quickly. I got the brush to tidy up the mess, so I could dash home as soon as I was done-and the day was gradually fading into night. I watched Mrs. nibs walk slowly towards me in lazy strides as I brushed the floor, her hair which was always in a ponytail let loose. She let out a deep yawn as she said go home Anni, you’re dismissed.” Baffled, I asked to be sure if she was firing me, or she was relieving me of my duty “For the night?” “For the whole time, I’m done with your bullshit, You’re fired” she said walking back into her room in the same stride, leaving me devastated.
