We had just finished our meal at Millie’s Diner and were standing outside Madison’s car. She offered Olivia and Hannah a ride home.
“Our house is nearby. Hannah and I will just walk home,” Olivia politely declined.
“Are you sure?” Madison asked, a touch of concern in her voice.
Olivia smiled and nodded. “Yes.”
Madison nodded in response, then turned to me. “What are you waiting for? Get in the car, or did you bring your own?”
