When the call finally ended, I climbed back into bed. I pulled the blanket over my head and tried to make sense of what I had heard. The ache in my chest wouldn't let up. Even the man who shared my bed had conspired against me. My throat tightened, and I had to fight back a sob. I replayed the years of our marriage over and over. I had never wronged Lucas.
