Chapter 10: Peculiar Yuki

Lyla POV I grabbed my black cloak that had short sleeves and fell down to my mid thigh. Getting out of the underground tunnels was always a long process. Due to them having been once served for mining, one wrong turn could result in getting so completely lost that not even your wolf senses could help free you. As a result, we brandished small colored dots throughout the tunnel that could only be seen if you knew where to look. Red dots indicated which corners to turn and green indicated the wrong corner. In the event that someone could find the dots, this threw them off. I got through all of the corners before I found the door I needed. It exited into a hidden, deserted alleyway. The door was enchanted to only be accessed by those that uttered the correct phrase. It was something Yuki had come up with back when my parents found the tunnels. My hood now covered my face and hair and I pulled up my face cover. The black, fabric face cover went around my neck, over my ears and covered to under my eyes. A precaution in the event that my hood came down. The last thing to do was to shape-shift of sorts in order to shut off my scent. I closed my eyes and centered my mind. The soft murmur of power began to pulse through my body as I pinpointed each gland and halted its excreting. Once completed, I opened the door and made my way down the alley. I paused at the corner of the alley accessing my surroundings. It was quiet at this time of day and the people of this part of town probably wouldn't be waking up with their hangovers until after midday. Once I was satisfied that no one would notice me, I slipped around the corner and followed the shadows down the street towards the outskirts of the town. The town ended at a large expanse of forest. That was where Yuki's secluded hut was located. After 30 minutes of trudging through the town, buildings were replaced with large trees and overgrown brush. I took a deep inhale of clean oxygen, relishing the beautiful scents that filled my nostrils. "I wondered when you might drop by for a visit, my lovely Lyla," the soft whisper of a male's voice tickled my ear. "Pfft does he really think sneaking up on us is going to make us head over heels for him?" Lyria chuckled. "Maybe not for you, but it certainly does something to me." I giggled back in my mind. "Yuki, it's been a while, old friend, how's your back treating you?" I sneered at the voice. I knew if I turned now I would see nothing but open air. "Tsk, you know I don't age Lyla. Much like you won't," his voice was thick with amusement. "You can't know that for sure. Joking aside, Yuki, I need your help," I turned serious as time was something I did not have much of. "Hmm, I'm intrigued. Very well, meet me at my hut," with that his voice disappeared along with his presence. I turned and headed towards this ancient oak tree that stood high above the canopy. Once there, I whispered "dul isteach" three times and turned to find a quaint cottage sitting in front of the oak tree. Its roof was made of straw and oak planks held the structure. "You can come in," a voice called from within the cottage. I walked up the steps that led to the green-colored front door and entered. "Yuki?" I called. "In my work room." "I must say, you definitely are a man of habit. Everything appears exactly how it was when I was last here," I muttered. "Yes, why change something that works perfectly the way it is?" "Hmm, perhaps, but a new picture, or different flower pot might be nice," my nose scrunched as I inspected the flower pot in the front of his study door. "Quit judging my creative decor and come sit down and tell me what you need," he huffed in annoyance. Walking into the room, I was struck by Yuki's handsome appearance. His silver hair hung in long messy locks on either side and was heavily layered. Ice-blue eyes stared intently at me as I admired his chiseled clean jawline and pointed nose. He was wearing a loose fitted white tunic and black fitted jeans. I knew that beneath that shirt was a perfectly sculpted tan body. He was not bulky but rather a lean, muscly build. "Are you done checking me out?" Yuki stated blandly. This was one of the many qualities that attracted me to Yuki. He was hot and cold and was the epitome of unpredictable. "Feeling self-conscious?" I giggled. "Never, but it's rude to check someone out when you, yourself, are completely covered," he pointed out. "Woah, Yuki. Are you asking me to undress for you? That's very ungentlemanly of you. The least you could do is offer to undress me yourself," I seductively whispered. Before I could move to remove my cloak, two hands grasped my upper arms. "Tell me Lyla, is that what you desire?" his cold voice sent shivers down my spine and straight to my core. Yuki was different to Trent. Trent was always aggressive and dominant. Yuki, on the other hand, was a wildcard. He changed along with his moods. I never knew which Yuki I would get. "Answer me Lyla." "Yes."
